  1. Base from my experience with old FF games and a fair amount of WoW pvp I can say that Monks doing big damage to low armor classes makes a lot of sense.

    In WoW warriors do pretty much the same damage to both paladins and mages due to resilience.
    In Warcraft 3 armor played a huge role on tanking physical damage and this similar concept was present in many old games like in FF.
    Monks have high HP and burst physical damage so they are great vs Black Mages but not so much vs White ones because they have armors and heals to live trough the burst. Knights would defeat a Monk but that heavy armor means they are a slow target ready to take bursts from Black Mages or other ranged burst classes … and so on.

    Wow somehow escaped this natural advantage and became skill button rotation vs skill button rotation.

    Now don't get me wrong, natural advantage does not guarantee victory in good old games, it just means you have to change your regular most effective strategy according to your enemy class and talents.

    In WoW it's just rotation vs rotation.
    Have you noticed how the best pvp combos there usually have mostly caster classes?

  2. It's really fun. I'm not sure if free trial players can do it though, people might want to confirm that. They disabled PvP for trial accounts last year because cheaters were creating free accounts and teleporting all over the map, then would create a new account if they got banned

  3. I am a PvP sweaty and I just hope it doesnt feel like the old pvp because zerglings arent fun to play with. So tired of aoe metas and proc metas that involve 0 skill as you get hard carried by the other 10+ people in your group. (Speaking about all MMOs in general not just the old modes on FFXIV) I doubt it will be what I'm looking for but at least it's a step in the right direction and gives you more chances to play in a reasonably populated setting.

  4. Melee isn’t playable in PvP which is the real problem. Melee is super fucky with players moving out of their melee range.

    So basically in melee duels it’s just the two people strafing against each other and cancelling each other’s animations until one of your hands cramp up and they stop strafing then literally just die.

    If you fight someone who isn’t spam strafing you just steafe circles around them and you will literally take no damage.

  5. I'll explain the first clip of what the monk did. He used an ability called Enlightenment, which is a knock back, and immediately followed up with the Monk Limit Break, which is a gap closer. However because of the server tick, the limit break animation started, which locks both the Monk and the target in place, before the knock back happens, so it appears on BOTH screens really, that they are pummeling you from far away.

    Tldr: server tick makes it look dumb.

  6. I spent 8 hours on patch releases utterly immersed in this new pvp mode. It just reminds me of how much I loved overwatch…but its in Final Fantasy 14 instead. I want more 😈

    So WoW players who also play FF, how's this mode?

    I'm a lowly peasant at pvp, pve scrub here. But I hear WoW's modes plus world pvp is awesome, like GW2

  8. As a player since Heavensward it's unreal to hear so much praise about FFXIV PvP. I haven't tried it yet because I want to clear the "spoilable" content first, but I'm really looking forward to trying this.

I'm addicted to the new mode, so glad I can enjoy farming pvp now and get stuff I've been wanting for a long time, as much as it sucks, My favorite part is when you find out you are doing amazing by how much of a threat you are that they try to swarm you as soon as they can, most kills I've gotten are 3 but all mine are on assists since I enjoy playing it as summoner I make sure our dps has a nice juicy kill waiting for em

  10. Its so fast paced and quick I can just pop in for a 5min match and then getting stuck there for 6 hours lmao. You are right acco yoshiP is definitely greedy he wants to appeal to all type of players

  11. Warrior is so fun of a job for pvp. I'm over here screaming the Scorpion line, "GET OVER HERE!" while I yank a player away from the crystal and stunning them, god it's so satisfying

  12. I'm a pve only player. I've tried pvp in other games before and found that pvp in general just wasn't for me. I tried out casual queue Crystalline Conflict and loved it. I think the fast game time and lack of player chat really lessens the pressure and just lets me enjoy the game.

  13. standard issue elixir is good for when your team is on the backfoot, and your healer is dead, and there is no possible way for you to survive, you run back behind a pillar and pray to god the enemy team doesnt notice you trying to heal yourself.

  14. what i like with the new patch is they revamp the skill for pvp and gives every job it's own identity and gimmick
    especially (at last) each job has their own Limit Break
    so far i used samurai, dragoon and dark knight
    my favorite is samurai limit break which could be a game changer if you do it right
    dragoon has an actual jump attack (my favorite on frontline)
    drk also has a very powerful limit break too, can't wait to try other jobs

  15. You get MNK combo push back>LB that cause DMG+8000(Yes, it's suppose to be like that), MNK literally strong 1v1 or last shot HP<32,000(without barrier or reduction dmg) but on group DMG or SUM DPS its suck, truth is MNK LB is the weakest DPS LB and hardest to play.
