  1. This is the second Boss of the current raid tier and its clear the devs had a lot of fun with it. The Raid itself is basically a Wrestling Tournament with people having an animal as their powerup, in this case a Bee. Since Raids are optional content this doesn't really reveal anything about the Main Story either. This song do be buzzin ๐Ÿ˜›

  2. Cultural context: something important to remember is that this boss is the stereotypical Japanese Toxic Idol who hides her insecure, vindictive personality beneath a veil of cloying sweetness. This is what her lyrics are referring to, and it's a lot more apparent in the Japanese dub of the boss fight (where her in-combat voice lines do a complete 180 from cutesy to nasty). The bouncy bass and percussion also remind me a lot of a Ska beat, which is probably why so many people are comparing this song to a track from Splatoon (which also draws heavily from Ska, Dancehall, and Dub).

The funky chord you were referring to also makes me think of Weather Report and Jaco Pastorius in particular, who were both huge influences on late 1980s Japanese funk and jazz.
