After scaling the mountain after endless waves of sin eaters, we had finally arrived at the apex of the mountain to face the king of sin. Pompous as ever, he makes his way down from his throne to face us whilst demanding our submission allthewhile. Our stance unwavering, we prepare ourselves for a battle to the death against the epitome mockery of holiness. The fight was proceeding rather swiftly in our favor as we ravaged his form with blades, arrows, magic and the like. Until, that is, when he succumbed himself entirely to the Light that resided within. Doing this, he had transformed to a higher, truly grandiose being deemed only as âInnocenceâ.
The fight had evolved to another layer of ferocity as we pit all of our past experience to overcoming Vauthryâs newfound power. In the end, we once more emerge victorious as the final Lightwarden of Norvrandt had been laid low by our might. Even so, there was still one more arduous task to be done: absorbing his aether.
With our aether already reaching its breaking point, we steel ourselves for the most difficult absorption of them all. As we proceed in the task, we see a vision of Vauthryâs beginnings. It presented a brief tale of a wealthy, selfish, and possibly politically powerful man cursing his populace for not being more grateful for his leadership. The setting of this tirade was alone in Vauthryâs room in Eulmore, with only his wife as company. Through his ramblings, we gather that he may have led a sizeable portion of people out of a calamitous situation, but not without great sacrifices made in the process. During this, we hear a familiar voice intruding with supportive praise towards the man and his decisions; fueling the furnace of entitlement within him. Surprised, the man and his wife turn towards the new person, and we find that it is none other than Emet-selch in his Ascian attire. He approached them whilst offering a gift of power by means of transferring the essence of a Lightwarden into the womb of his wife, so that their son may be born as a god to rule over the lands for eternity. The man seemed to show no hesitation, and jumped immediately in favor of the idea. The vision flashes forward in time and shows that the sin eaters had obeyed Vauthryâs presence ever since he was born due to this splicing of aether.
As the vision ends, we begin to aÌžÍÍsÌžÍÌcÌ”ÍÌșeÌ”ÌÌnÌ·ÌÍdÌ·ÍÍ and feel the aether inside begin to brutally erupt as it proceeds toá¶Ì”ËĄÌžá”ÌŽá”Ì·âżÌ”ËąÌ”á”̶ eviscerate us from the inside-out. It á”Ì¶ÊłÌ¶á”ÌŽá”Ìžá”̷ʰ̔á”ÌžËąÌŽrips through our soul and ʰ̞á”Ì·á”ÌžËĄÌžËąÌ·tears our mind.
I hear voices call out to me. Familiar ones. Close ones. Theyâre faint. Itâs hard to hear with all the noise. I wonder if I try to listen more closely⊠or maybe I shouldâŠ
We see the Exarch. Things become a bit more clear now; a bit less fuzzy, and the bleeding hurts less. He proclaims using the power to teleport away to start a new life on a better world. Something about using us this whole time for a selfish purpose.
Heâs always been good at keeping things secretive, but he seems pretty bad at lying.
With our senses coming back to us, we get a better grasp of the situation. We are put alone in an aetherial ring along with the Exarch, and he is channeling the light aether from us unto himself. Perhaps with the power of the Crystal Tower, he could actually successfully harness it safely
âŠBut then we overhear the theories of our friends, and the conclusion that the Exarch means to teleport himself into the rift after taking all of the Light into himself. In doing so, he will die with the purpose of sending the corruption hopelessly adrift in the rift.
What about the adventures he wished to go on? The memories heâd like to make? The friend he so wishes to be with again?
During the channeling, the tempestuous air blows away his cowl, and that is when we see him. We remember him. The man who took the burden of sealing the Crystal Tower alone to keep Eorzea safe from power-hungry tyrants getting a hold of its technology.
We call out his name, and in response, Gâraha Tia thanks us for believing, and fares us well for the last time-
There is a gunshot.
He dropped his scepter.
Heâs collapsing.
I see him⊠the one behind him.
Emet.

I love how the Chrystarium theme really conveys hope. And the "Tempest" one conveys nostalgia.
I adore how they used so much of the past story, even the raid side stories, to tell this story. It's so rare in MMOs. And makes me so excited to see what they're going to do in Endwalker wrapping ALL of this up.
Here I am just trying not to get sniffly again to the previously on segment and then BANG! What the heck Lucron!? Seriously such a punch to the gut. Good job man. Feo Ul visiting us and teasing us with the option to go full Frey and say screw it and spend the rest of eternity inside the castle is so touching. Poor Urianger, keeps on ending up in situations where he has to put on the best poker face and withhold stuff from his friends all for the better good. Dude deserves a hug. I'm glad you've done enough side stuff to understand how exactly one can go about teleporting a huge building through time and space.
WHO'S CUTTING THE ONIONS DURING THE INTRO
We've all seen the story countless times, but whenever someone gets to the end of ShB, the hype just always comes back fresh
That guitar twang at the end is still euphoric… Next 3 episodes are going to be WOWZERS.
You should still try to finish up omega raids if you still can let's just say it made me feel I was rewards for doing the optional content for one of alot of people's favorite moments in shb.
Damn it Lucron, the use of Eternal Wind in the intro had me worried I'd go back into work with red puffy eyes x'D
I'm so happy we're on this ride with you and every episode is a treat. You continue to brighten my week with every upload đ
Always tearing up at that flashback
Wow! Your intros and outros once again are amazing! I love how you timed the gunshot with your WoL waking up. It absolutely fits with what you think afterwards, "Was it all a dream?". I thought it was pretty interesting how Graha's "Mankind is finished!" line is exactly what Emet-selch says to you after Vauthry's trial, which could mean he saw Graha's memory.
One life for one world… such was the bargain, and you the coin, though, it were not mine to spend.
Man, having Urianger drop the flowery language is so intense.
"What. Price."
Another great episode. Gods I canât wait for the next one. For the record, I did not manage to finish the omega raids until after Shadowbringers. Whatâs worse is I donât always âgetâ all the subtitles and what not. Itâs easy enough to spot it in hindsight! But in the moment… I think Iâm just to deep in absorb mode to Really GET what Iâm experiencing. Thats probably why I enjoy watching these types of streams. I can devote more to truly understanding whatâs going on. And to hear others reactions and ideas does help expand my understanding beyond what I might have discovered on my own. Plus itâs also really nice to get some validation when seeing others react to scenes similar to how I did. That being said, your âstyleâ on how you are presenting this journey is really great! I think itâs my new favorite. Seriously! Thank you again for putting these out!!
The end is nigh! And more tears also approach on my end.
It's been a blast so far to watch you play through this expansion, and don't you worry about those moments where there is a lack of talking on your end, those moments of self-reflection are what make this series so damn enjoyable to watch, if that makes sense.
I remember my first time playing through the expansion and really enjoying how fleshed out the characters felt now.
But this sequence was the moment where I realized that what I was really noticing is how much all of your friends (The Scions, the Exarch, Ardbert, Feo Ul, etc.) love you.
They love and care about you in so many different, deep, meaningful ways.
the outro scene reminds me of sin from ffx
damn why i cant time travel to the next week
Fantastic editing as always. Watching your playthrough has been a real joy.
He always play full to mode, it's pretty nice.
Uncle Uri is the man who takes the burden of making the hard decisions. No matter how much they hurt. No matter if… the world may call him a villain.
His path is unchanging. His creed, sacrosanct.
Man your voice acting is on point!
You must be awesome at D&D!
the cactuar at 44:31 is my favorite little bit
Wait is Lucron done 5.0 msq now and we are just waiting for him to edit? That's sick if so, hope you enjoyed and looking forward to your thoughts on the expansion after you're done.
Ah yes…. The tempest!
A zone completely bereft of real fighting unless sidequested to do so.
You are really close Lucron! Keep going! And once you came far enough there is a good chunk of lore set into certain blue sidequests that are definitely worth taking a look into. But you play how you want to! I'll still watch you go through the tale of the tempest and it's secrets
GOSH that introduction, the feels..
YOU CONTINUE TO HARM ME WITH THESE INTROS ;C;
If there's ANY music theme I would recognize ON THE SPOT… it's Ultima. Putting that theme in the outtro is very well done. Well, time to travel to the depths. Just a little longer… a little farther…
fuck yeah new lucron video lets GO
