Playing Final Fantasy XIV in First Person : Part 1

Can you beat Final Fantasy XIV while stuck in first person mode?!
…yeah probably.
But it’ll be fun to see how an idiot fares at the dumbest challenge of all time!

  1. i thought of trying to do the same with lalafell cause i think their camera height is generally lower, also on melee lol, but i didnt want to play the entire story again

  2. I'm just 5 minutes in so I'm not sure if you figured this out already but I think legacy mode might fix both the camera snapping and the slow walk when walking back

  3. Final Fantasy XIV and RuneScape in the same video. Excelente start. 👍 Insane, stupid, those are the best kind of ideas. 🤣 So many limits, but first person view? That’s new to me. 😁 Don’t like Dragoon huh? Tsk tsk. 😉 This was honestly fun to watch. Looking forward to the rest. 👍

  4. Love this idea! Extra mobs in dungeons don’t give xp anymore sadly so it’s just a waste of time to go after them. They also give you setheryte tickets that take you directly to horizon now! So you don’t need to do any random teleport then travel stuff! It’s the best qol update I think

  5. Rath games is actually doing an iron man; the amount of prep he needs to do to do a single instance is anything but small. Its nice to see more challenges though, they are a great watch, i hope this one becomes a great success.

  6. Legacy Controls, might help with the back pedal issue. If you use that then if you press back it turns your character without turning the camera. Don't know how it works in First Person, in addition I believe there is a setting to turn off the camera pull on attack.

  7. I've actually been doing this on the side for the while now (tracking my progress at firstpersonxiv on carrd)
    Very cool stuff! My character is "In First'person" on Hyperion. I've gotten to the start of Heavensward, but before I continue the story my goal is to 100% the content in ARR. At this part I only have The Coils of Bahamut remaining.
    Edit:
    You can improve your first-person movement by adjusting the following settings:
    Character Configuration -> Control Settings -> General -> 1st Person Camera Auto-adjustment (and Enable Y-axis auto-adjustment)

  8. I've streamed some of my playthrough in First person with some different additional challenges if you're interested. I haven't streamed in almost a year though.

  9. I’ve done this on accident quite a few times, and have even tried to do full dungeons in first person, but as soon as I see any aoes I’ve noped out of there. Maybe I’ll give it another try, even if only with a trust or something.

  10. The comment about moving backwards. So you can press and hold the left and right mouse click and your character can move in the direction your mouth is facing. So if you just press then and turn the camera around you can move at full speed. Someone also mentioned legacy controls as well

  11. Somehow the thing that strikes me as the most unusual about the way you play in this video is not the first person camera, but that you have Full Thrust on 6 instead of 3. Like, you do you, but it disturbs me at a visceral level.
