It is possible to get a personal house but would be incredibly hard. Fortunately they are adding a lottery system to housing to eliminate the infinite clicking
Buying houses is absolutely the worst thing, and it's like that in part because anti-RMT measures collide with the extreme demand and (at least currently) the relative cost of standing up new servers to contain new wards. I got mine back in 2014 in the days when it was rare to be able to afford the cost of one, and I've carefully guarded it ever since, because the alternative is horrifying.
I'm glad you're liking the game! It was so nice coming from WoW to just be able to define my own goals. I do some savage content but my main thing is glamour and photography, and there are some really welcoming communities that focus on those. Imagine playing a persistent game for… fun???
