Pictomancer is an amazing new addition to Final Fantasy XIV and is truly a masterpiece involving tons of awesome new colored spells and feels remarkably distinct from the other casters and provides a SIGNIFICANT amount of utility that makes Pictomancer stand out amongst the rest of the DPS roster.

If you watch this video you’ll get a strong grasp on the mechanics and fundamentals of FFXIV’s newest job the Pictomancer

  1. Can we take a moment to appreciate that SE actually took a job as niche and abstract as pictomancet and actually made it work in an MMO? I’m just blown away by the creativity. Thanks for the thorough review, Cole!

  2. Green mage was more than just defensive buffs it had poisons nearly all the time magic like haste slow and quick, it had dualcast for things like armor and barrier, petrify void and death

  3. Slight corrections on some of the information in here:

    – subtractive palette doesn't require a white paint ready to change it to black paint, if you don't have a white blob, it will just convert the next one you get.

    – you got a little over excited about Tempera Coat, if you read the tooltip it says you can only use Tempera Grassa UNDER the effect of Tempera Coat, meaning if it's absorbed and you get the 60 sec cooldown reduction that cuts off access to Tempera Grassa, so it's an either/or situation you can't stack the reductions to get 30sec recast.

So basically hit it once and it's a personally barrier and if you use it right you get a 60 sec recast on the next one, OR you can hit it twice and give a barrier to everyone and get a 1:30 sec cooldown (assuming you did it at the right time).
