  1. i think that if u pay money to play this game for raids, u are scammed by yourself 😀 , it is a virtual world and stuff to do around that u cant do in real world, raids are just boring stuff that worths no money 😀

  2. He's right. Raids are time wasting, and have been for quite a few expacs now. Hell, that's probably why Mythic dungeons are more popular, and why most people just go for high keys with them.

  3. This is exactly why Monster Hunter World removing a lot of inconvenience mechanics, reducing how much preparation players must do before departing on quests, as well as reducing the time between quest start and when players start fighting the monsters (and then MH Rise furthering the QoL improvements) was absolutely the right way to go.
Both the sales and player retention further evidence this.

If only more games, such as in the MMORPG and Fighting Game genres, would take a similar approach…

  4. To be fair, Mobs and time wasting mechanics used to be fun in 90's, they didn't have anything to play they don't have any better game to compare to. they did the lan party because they didn't have discord. They suffered together with friends and stuck with the time wasting mechanics. what a good old time.

  5. It sounds like WoW players are being forced to clear a dungeon every pull of a boss. That sounds like actual hell, and having to reapply food every wipe. Like, long duration buffs that just get wiped? Does WoW treat food like pots?

14's raiding is nicely "'beginner'/casual savage raider friendly" and actually fun to learn with the whole "we wiped? Pull again! Let's get [Mechanic] cleaned up!" dynamic of just facing the boss and boss alone outside of add phases where you can actually focus more on boss mechanic cleanup than slogging through trash to start your next pull. Plus not having to re-food for the sorta "passive" buff is such a nice thing, you can hit two every hour and re-food every half hour. You can prog an hour a day if you want and still make real progress to a clear.

  6. To be fair to WoW, it's based on an older idea of what raiding is and who it catered to. Newer doesn't necessarily mean better either, and older doesn't necessarily mean outdated. Some people do in fact like the preparation involved for raiding.

Classic raiding in WoW, where you gathered for a buff that lasts 2h that only appears every 6 hrs (IIRC), went and picked a flower that only spawns every 30 minutes, I knew people that would even enter a dungeon that would buff frost damage for 15m and then log off and raid when summoned.

On top of that, flasks, absorption potions, elixirs, oils, food buffs, resistance gear and the timesink it takes to either grind the gold it takes to pay for these costs, or farm the mats to craft them. They would log off and conserve all buffs hours before the raid actually began.

Some people really enjoy doing the absolute min/max they possibly could for a character and the preparation raiding requires. I'll say it's not suited for everyone, but that doesn't mean people don't enjoy it.

Rather than paint something as superior/inferior, it's preference. I've enjoyed both aspects.

I enjoy in FFXIV how the raids are purely based around the difficulty of the fight, and nothing really else. Just if you can beat the boss and the mechanics. But I've also enjoyed absolutely min/maxing my character in WoW and the preparation and dedication it takes to raid in WoW.

I enjoy the fact that the boss fights in FFXIV are far more longer than in WoW. But on the other hand, I've also enjoyed the fact that raiding felt more immersive in WoW. You really are fighting to progress through the raid and explore it. That's something that FFXIV doesn't have. You're just plopped there, and very little resistance in between.

It's more like the games have different philosophies on what raiding is and should focus on. Both have their own respective strengths and weaknesses. Fighting games have both 2d and 3d variants. Is one superior or inferior? Or is just preference?

If Asmongold prefers FFXIV, he should play FFXIV. I don't know why he praises it, then doesn't play it. One of the biggest reasons that WoW went down isn't because it stagnated. It's because it kept trying to reinvent the wheel of what it is. I understand changes are necessary, but you can't even recognize the base game from where it is now. There's about 4 different versions of WoW players, each because of how drastically the game changed.

  7. WoW tends to want to distinguish its elite players based on how much time they have. Other games are interested in distinguishing their elite players based on how well they play the game.

  8. My biggest complain about WoW raiding is that alot of mechanics require certain classes to efficently clear. I raided mythic at Legion and was totaly burned out because i played enhancer shaman and most of the bosses required ranged classes to do something while all i could do was deal dmg and watching my teammates fail one mechanic after the other which resulted in an instant wipe which i could do nothing to prevent.
FF14 on the other hand requires every player to do something and personal mistakes arent forced on every player. Group wipes because one player made an mistake is frustrating nothing more and should be removed from the game.

  9. i think the trash as fine, they just need to implement a shortcut to the boss once you get passed the trash the first time. One of the things i always hated about raiding in WoW is just that you always had to run back to the boss which wastes a good amount of time depending on the size of the raid.

  10. I think part of the issue that makes ffxiv raiding so good that even I do it as opposed to WoW and other's is people are understanding and kind they aren't gonna destroy you for a mistake here or there nor are they gonna jump on your case for being new nine chances out of ten people are understanding and try to help you out…I'd NEVER admit in wow I was new….You'd get lambasted and insulted.

  11. I haven't played Ffxiv or lost ark but I agree with Asmon plus everytime I open my desktop and see WoW Icon I instantly feel tired even thinking about playing WoW is making me tired.

Raiding in other games are better honestly, Elsword and Grandchase is a pay 2 win no doubt but doing their raids is much more enjoyable than stressing out your Raidcomp in WoW

  12. When I started playing classic, I liked the idea that it had quests that took you around different zones, and for a while I enjoyed how the extra travel made the world feel bigger and more open. But then I got to 40-50, and I was repeatedly expected to travel between places like Booty Bay and Gadgetzan, and taking the same flights and boat rides over and over, and it just felt like the game was looking for ways to waste my time.

And speaking of time wasting, there's the arbitrary super low drop rates for certain quest items, which was especially bad in classic. In FFXIV, when you're told to get X by killing Y, you're guaranteed to get one with each kill. In fact, they've completely done away with corpse looting, and any appropriate drops just appear in your inventory. Oh, and I've reached level 50 and not once have I been expected to cut someone's head off and carry it around in my bag. 👍

  13. Most of us have lives. So raiding that takes 2 plus hours…just makes no sense. There's bunch of things they can change to make it easier for EVERYONE ELSE thats not a "top guild" clear it. We all deserve to hit those end game feel goods
