  1. Regarding the choir/chanting layers on multiple songs: I'm pretty sure it's been stated (probably by Soken himself) that Square Enix spent some time making a sound font just for chanting voice backings with all those variations, and he's been using it since ARR. So… yeah. Some SERIOUS mileage out of it.

Regarding "Tempest" and Tsutomu Narita: The funny thing with Tsutomu Narita music is that it really just does this a lot. If you check out his work in Granblue Fantasy after listening to these tracks, it's VERY MUCH this type of thing. Stuff like "Vs. Yggdrasil Omega", "Paradise Lost", "Order of the New World", "The Ultimate"… almost every boss theme in GBF just has that kind of multi-part old synth meets new style feel. If I had to guess, I'd presume that he was inspired by Uematsu and kept that mark with him.

Also, yes. It is very much a long fight when done originally, and the song(s) are kind of supposed to be multi-phase messes, but… it kind of fits to condense it this way because the two halves are very different AND because they have two separate loops.

Also, personal pref. for me are "Thunder Rolls", "Through the Gloom", "Tempest", "Faith In Her Fury", and "Primogenitor". I've listened to these for SO LONG in the soundtrack.

  2. 1:21:18 Good King Moggle Mog, long may he reign!

2:59:45 I feel like that "Footsteps in the Snow" is more Shiva's theme majestic and terrible, where Oblivian is Iceheart's theme, once we've been able to break through her icy mask and see the angst beneath. (I emphasize Iceheart because I feel like Heavansward Ysayle entire arc is synthesizing her identities of Shiva, Iceheart and Ysayle)

3:36:38 Primogenigter is probably one of my favorite ARR themes. I use it all the time in my ttrpg to represent contact with the magestic or awe inspiring. The gentleness and lack of concern really shows how insignificant the WoL is compaired to Midgardsomr at that time.
