  1. My first thought when I realized that was a rice field along the bottom was: "wait, Menphina's zone? Are we taking Zero to the Alliance raids?"
A bit hopeful because I would like it if they made the alliance raids more than just purely side content. I know they each add a few sentences to dialogs throughout the game but I would like it if they were more integral to the MSQ, like Crystal Tower.

  2. The story has already been decided, so if there is any character development for Zero, they can't just show her off in the Dawntrail trailer until the story is covered in the next couple of updates.

Personally I'm hoping to see the female hrothgar in the full version of the trailer.

  3. What about the camp I'm in that has no faith that Zero will live beyond the next patch? So far her story arc has seemed to lead towards a very cliched ending where she realizes that sacrificing herself to save her friends is the epitome of humanity or some such nonsense.

  4. she is getting the ryne treatment. If dawntrail is all about new new new then bringing her along wouldnt make much sense. She is an okay character but Krile is suppose to be getting more screentime and having both would be too much.

  5. This might just be hopium, but I think Zero is being positioned to a central role in the story going forward as a 2nd protagonist alongside the WoL. She comes into the main story with a clean slate whereas the WoL knows everyone and has done everything already. She has a lot of MC energy so it's a good way to make everything fresh having us act as mentor & guide.

  6. I had held out hope that the balancing out of the 1st and 13th would cause a final rejoining, and the final calamity would have been the last gasp from what the fallen Ascians were trying to accomplish. It would have also given them a chance to pull a Cataclysm, and remake the world without the limitations from the PS3.

However, after seeing the Dawntrail trailer I feel like it's pretty much out of the question. I feel like your theory on the 1st and 13th balancing each other out feel like the kind of resolution that causes everything to just kind of work out (which seems to be the MO of Endwalker tying up lose ends), and I feel like Zero will probably be relegated to background character who takes care of the world we left behind, similarly to Ryne in the 1st.

  7. I'll be really surprised if Zero doesn't join us as a Scion – the entire post game story has been about her. When she first showed up, that's just what I wanted. I thought she was great, interesting, with a lot of potential. At this point… eh, I feel like they've gone rather far into the 'what is food,' 'what is trust,' 'what is friend' angle, & it's getting somewhat annoying, & repetitive. I do not want to watch her eat again.. They've overdone the hat tip thing to the point I started counting how often she does it. But I fully expect her to remain. As for sacrifice, I won't be surprised if it's Julius (blue haired Garlean) who dies for her somehow, because they've given them some sort of connection which I'm not sure feels all that earned. I think she's going the G'raha route, but in his case, there was a long build up & in this, not so much. I like her character model – I guess that's something.

I'm not honestly feeling the post main story game as much as I hoped to – I think that's why I'm watching this video! I want to catch your enthusiasm for it. But the Dawntrail trailer had the effect of making me realize that nothing we do here at the end is going to matter, & it's just a vessel for adding her to the story permanently. And I wish that pleased me as I thought it would when she first appeared, but it doesn't. I hope we'll get more about shards, who's who, etc, but it seems like each patch ends about where the previous one did (and I do not care about the dragon sister, as cold as that makes me. – dragon-sister's voice actor reminded me of ARR Minfilia, and that's not good).

I'm also guessing our shard is the pre-golbez, as our echo is in his POV rather than 3rd person. It would be funny if 2nd Golbez/Durante of the Fabio Hair was Zenos's shard, but I'm too terrified they'll being him back, & that would be the utter end for me. Having us flash back to Zenos when Zero was doing the 'what is trust/friend' bit with Jullus was ominous enough. (Not one of my characters – I have 3 – would think of him for a second after I left in him the vast 'wherever.') But maybe we'll somehow get that crystal Zero dropped and be rejoined again? Not sure where that's going, or if that part of the story is over, but… oh well. We're clearly going to fight Zeromus, who I remember from FF4 (which was the first game I ever played, so I should love this) – but he's so nothing here that I don't care, and worse, there was something truly comic about his first appearance, with his wavy little hands and little beak.

I like the idea of a Corsair class – I've never been able to get into the Ninja, though I've leveled it up twice, WANTING to like it (and also wanting the Amaro, more importantly – and then the… weird little feather hat? Got that! Put it on a squad member, poor thing…) I like the armor style that would come along with it – less fantasy, more real maybe. I hope. I just wish I was feeling this part a bit more.

  8. while i obviously trust the devs to do what’s best, at this point i think it’d be pretty foolish to not bring Zero on as a full time member of the team

especially with the lighter tone of 7.0, there’d be near limitless opportunity for character development and comedic relief

ultimately it just seems like Zero is closer to Estinien than Ryne or Gaia when it comes to being a “main character” or “side character”, which is why i think that shot with her and Ryne in frame is a nice little bait and switch

  9. Is the First still "drowning in light"? It was my assumption with the defeat of the Lightwardens, the return of darkness/night, and even the resolution to the Eden situation, the First isn't drowning in light. Rather, if we had to provide a metric assessment to it, it is just leaning more towards the element of light, but not nearly as dangerously as it was by significant degrees. It's possible it has an overabundance of light, but not "drowning" which is what Emet was trying to accomplish there.
