  1. The thing with the trust is that it forces the player to play out a dungeon the way the dev designed it to play out. I'm excited to level all my jobs has I level my trust.

Most of the criticism of dungeons is born of the rushed play style that we use to complete them. I enjoy running trust even if they are slower.

  2. I like prae and castrum the way they are. No changes needed there, except they need to make them harder by reducing the item level it syncs to. IMO. Only change they need to make to cape westwind and the two 8 man dungeons is to make em sync to close to minimum item level. Make em harder fights instead of just making it an instance.

  3. I'm wondering if this is going to affect using the squadron too? They still use the old skills that don't even exist anymore in the game, so if the dungeons get altered too what kind of impact that will have. I used them to level most my classes to 50 as chill content, that also means i am totally ok with toto-rak changes the AI does not like that dungeon haha.

  4. I'm hoping this also adds more dungeons to MSQ roulette… like Kugane Castle? The Aery? The Vault? Those also had some story impact… but if the Vault was unskippable for scenes… I'd cry every time watching Haurchefant over, and over, and over…

  5. I'm one of those who relishes the solo content. When I do things I want to do them at my pace, at my convenience without having to worry about a group that just wants to bumrush the place, because they have done it a thousand times.

The trust system is fantastic and honestly, it's how I do dungeons for gear for trade ins for seals with the GC. It's how I level characters beyond 71. It's how I work on my rotations, because the dummies can only do so much. If I want to try and heal or tank, because I don't do either…I'll try it out in a trust first, no question.

And to hear that it's a system that is going to be even more significant in the future, I'm super excited for that.

  6. When I started playing FFXIV last summer, I did have a bit of anxiety going into the required dungeons in order to progress the story. However, it was such a positive experience that I no longer have that anxiety when doing my daily roulettes. That little push gave me more confidence as a player.

That being said, I am looking forward to running 2.0 dungeons with trusts on alt jobs. I’d like to try out a tank job and a healer job. Doing it with the trust system means I can relearn the fights and not frustrate other players who want to plow through the duty as fast as possible.

  7. Don't like the direction torwards a solo player experience. It really feels like a waste of resources when it could be used for other innovations for XIV. The magic of playing a mmo is experiencing the content with OTHER people in that world.

I'm all for Quality of Life for old content, but spending so much time to revamp a system that is 10 years old for people to do it by themselves for the "solo experience" is just a lost for what "could be" in xiv.

Maybe sell a different copy of XIV where it's only a single player campaign and no one else exists in your world. Or just go play a single player game all together.

  8. It really is nice to see them making this change finally. Bit surprising to see them jumping from working backwards from ShB to starting from the beginning with ARR, but a good thing for them to do all the same. Still curious just who the trust members are going to be. Randomized NPCs? Your squadron when you have one? The Scions? Maybe Hoary's or Ocher's group?
In any case, I can certainly say this is something I would have used a lot when I started playing, never being one who's terribly comfortable jumping into group content with completely random people, and personally still prefer to run content with friends over randoms even now. More so depending on what role I'm playing at the time. Super easy to not worry as a dps, and I'm quite comfortable with healing, but still get tankxiety with randoms. Pity the trust is generally incapable of handling 2 group or wall pulls, it would otherwise be a nice way to practice doing that sort of thing without fear if they could.
I totally agree it needs to be more flexible then it is currently though, with allowing you to go in with a group of 1 or 2 other players as well. Was numerous times in ShB that I was playing with my brother, and we'd hit a dungeon and switched to our trusts for the little bit of added story going in with the scions gives, but would have loved to have done it with just one less scion so we could stick together instead.

I also think, like Brian stated on stream, and I know I've commented in comments before in the past, they really need to ALSO do the opposite of this leaning more single-player friendly change, and change all of those solo duties to multiplayer capable instances that scale with the number of players in it. Or, if that's too much of a hassle to do, at bare minimum make them so they do not need to leave their party to go into them.
And lastly, they really need to add a way for people to open-world level sync themselves down to a low level party member. For those who just don't have any classes in the level ranges of a friend who has recently started, but you want to play with them and NOT one shot everything for them alongside eating all of their non-quest xp. As little as mob kill xp may be, it's still rather boring to just bulldoze everything for a friend. And really doesn't let them learn to play properly.

  9. Since ShB, I always do the first run of a new duty with the trusts. Not only for the extra bits of story they provide during random chitchat, but to understand what I should be doing when playing with others after the fact. Even while I have been main’ing a WAR and I don’t know what queues mean 🤣 but for DPS classes, they are a godsend. At times it is faster to run a trust with no AoE than sitting on the queue alone waiting to be called! Plus, with most all-human duties, folks join quiet and leave muted, so it is actually worse than the trust.

  10. Regarding Trusts, don't forget a HUGE thing.

We basically now have a practical organical Hall of the Novice and Hall of the Intermediate, since Trusts will make you learn all mechanics.

    I cannot wait!

  11. I can relate to anxiety during group content. However, I’m a player that exceeds my skill level by putting myself into that anxious situation. If I force myself to group up, then I leave myself no safety net for mistakes which makes me focus and play better.

  12. I got a lot of thought about this. FFXIV is one of the best Final Fantasies. I think top 3, some will say best, some will disagree. I'm not quibbling about a ranking. It's really good. But the fact a large chunk is mandatory multiplayer is hurdle. I love that they're doing this because there are hardcore FF fans who will love this story but wont' play it because they are hardcore single player people. Some will transition over to multiplayer and we welcome that. Other will just play the story and bail. And they should be able to do that, because again, one of the best FF stories.

The timing is great for me. MSQ roulette is amazing XP for jobs more than 10 under level cap, where you have a 100% armory bonus rather than the 50%, and I'm about to get my last DPS job to 80. Feel sorry for people who come after me though.

These are the kind of major changes that caused a call for WoW Classic. I hope that doesn't here though. 14 doesn't need that kind of split thanks to level sync

  13. Cape Westwind… The FC guided me to an online guide, move here and at 80% shift to there… Then of course the entire fight ended before Ieven targeted the damned npc… Laughs were had all around… I was so confused… 🙂

  14. I started FFXIV ARR late last year and played straight through the Endwalker campaign. The introduction to the Trust system when I got to Shadowbringers was amazing. One of my biggest complaints prior, was hitting a story dungeon and having to wait in a 15-20 minute queue. Really broke the flow.
