Dark Knight just feels worse than the other 3 tanks (Paladin, Warrior, Gunbreaker) available in the Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker Expansion. In this video Xeno goes to Reddit to read and react to what people have to say about the state of tanks and Dark Knight in particular. Literally make DA like Euraksia but on its own OGCD. pop it and you get a 30 sec buff. reduce the MP cost of the edges and make both DA and edges cost 2k MP. make TBN 2k as well and at the end of the duration you get MP back AND it gives you one free edge to use regardless if it pops or not. itll be like soul survivor (after they buffed it) back in HWs. theres no chance or probability it will pop, its guarantee. i dont mind it being on a mp cost cuz its just to boring having all your def CDs just be like all the other tanks, 1 short self/party CD, basic def CD, big def CD, party mit and invul. its just all becoming to similar.

  2. I love this. DRK IS MY MAIN. Doesn’t mean I never play anything else, but I prefer DRK for higher level content. yes there are some weaknesses with tbn. But I’ve always looked at tbn as my addition to my usual mitigation for busters and various raidwides. Tbn is used often yes, but I only use it if I know it’s gonna break for my edge proc. It’s funny to me that everyone is complaining about a job that they probably can’t optimize in the first place. Literally, like any other tank job, hit your mits at the right time and avoid the vuln stacks. That’s the best advice I can give to an early DRK player.

  3. Give tbn a stack with its dark arts (or whatever). If you get two stacks, not only do you get two free edge of shadows (or w.e) but you also reduce the colddown for his other abilities like unmend.

  4. Honestly, I think DRK should go full shield tank. Meaning as often as a WAR has heals ready, a DRK should have a shield up. TBN should have an off ability if it doesn't pop, like a refund of MP if the shield isn't broken. So that way, regardless of the outcome, a DRK still wins.

  5. While i agree with the MP cost making no sense being left on it anymore, a lot of the comments saying its still obscenely good for lower skill groups and prog are correct. Sure, fights arent designed around needing TBN off cooldown every cooldown…. but not dying every time you or someone else fucks up certainly helps.

    Its the same reason some people say blood lily is garbage where others say its absurdly good; If you only heal with oGCDs, its not going to be used. If you or your group arent experienced, blood lily literally refunds a lot of damage you otherwise missed out on by hardcasting heals. It could be designed better so everyone gets to interact with it at all spectrums of play, but its definitely not in any way bad.

  6. And all theory WARs and DRKs should swap their mitigation styles. DRK should do all the Lifestealing and crap straight up sucking the life force from enemies. Warrior should straight up deny dmg, Like straight up just say naw F that DMG. Here is some Shields and being purely angry to deny dmg.

  7. This is the kind of shit that makes me wonder what the hell is going on the class designers' heads. They give ALL THREE OTHER tanks great self sustain, and yet the one with Living Dead gets none. All the other tanks get a good extra cd (Thrill, Passage, Camoflauge) and drk gets one that works 1/3rd of the time. All the other tanks get good traits between 80-90 and drk gets fucking enhanced Unmend again. And the biggest insult of all is their snap cd not only does not heal them, it also risks a dps loss. I don't know why Yoshi P is so damn adamant on saying drk is in a good spot when anyone who has more than 2 braincells can figure this shit out if they think about it for more than a half second. XIV is a great game but they need to get their shit together when it comes to class design.

  8. Xeems, would you rather bring a DRK or PLD in a savage raid? Genuinely curious because me and my friend play tanks and we're always debating on DRK vs PLD in savage. The points we bring up are job design, DPS, self-sustain and degree of liability, and usefulness in a raid. What are your thoughts on this?

  9. They should re-work ALL jobs at 7.0. As YoshiP said, adding new stuff on top of present job design is clunky and obviously not working. Adding more oGCD abilities are not gonna work. Even if we have to sacrifice new jobs at 7.0, I rather have re-work of all jobs now that they have better experience of creating the game design.

  10. I gotta disagree with one point, “they don’t design raids around class when in P3S macrocosmos is a cheat code for death into life’s agony. It could be a one off, yet if you take any other healer without Astro you’re gonna GCD heal while spamming oGCDS or using healer LB3 to cheese that mechanic,

  11. We have a Healing tank, We Have a combo tank, We have a Self Sustain Tank, Wouldn't the next good choice be having a counter Tank? Having TBN break and then Procing Edge of Shadow really did feel good, I think they should Rework DRK around this kind of Mechanic, Cut Mana Cost and maybe have something like when TBN breaks within 4 sec, your next edge of shadow has increased damage, High risk High reward right? Take damage and dish out more damage sounds like what DRK should be.

  12. Honestly if they aren't gonna fix the issue with TBN at least make the TBN procced attacks be 100% direct hit and crits. So the few times you do use it well it feels good cause big numbers.
