  1. End walker is basically the avenger level end game. In one new expansion, they'll conclude 10 year story. FF14 is quickly becoming the most well written game ever. It even rivals the titans of classics.

  2. Looking forward to watching your journey.
Final Fantasy 14 is an MMO with the writing quality of a top-notch single player JRPG; which puts it squarely far and above the competition in the department of its plot and story.
It's secretly the biggest JRPG ever made and it's still growing!

  3. You've got a decent grasp of what's happening, yeah. Even we who've played the game for years don't really know the details quite yet, other than Endwalker is an expansion about the apocalypse, ending the first arc of the game that started a decade ago. The community as a whole is really hyped for what's to come; welcome to Eorzea!

  4. Always nice to see new player excited about playing a game that I very much enjoy playing.

The game feels a little "boring" in the initial stage (level 1~50 zone).
This is due to some history of this game being a disaster on its launch. (Version 1.0)
Since then, the game's director has changed, and he decided that the game can't be saved, and needed a complete revamp.
And the game was rushed in development (2.0), thus the game feeling something lacking throughout the initial revamp.

Once you get through that 2.0 stage, you will start seeing the game really pick up pace with Heavensward expansion (3.0).
So, if you feel a little disappointed with 2.0, I highly urge you to stick with the game and try to at least make it to 3.0.

I say this as another player who came into FF14 late, and almost dismissed it without reaching the good stuff.

Since the days when I started playing FF14, I know that they have implemented some changes to 2.0 stages to help new players get through it better, but I don't think it has fundamentally changed (just reduced overall filler quests from what I gather).

Hope you stick around and enjoy the game as I do now.

  5. Welcome to final fantasy 14. The entire story is just amazing. So few things to point out. The man with the armor, sword and shield who defended Alisaie from a monster (and later appeared on the moon) is the player character in the paladin job. They use that model to represent the character we play in cinematics.
The twins are Alphinaud (male in blue) and Alisaie (girl in red), you actually first see them on the boat, carriage, etc into eorzea but don't interact with them until later in the main story
The other 2 characters you see in the trailer are spoilers, I'm not going to go to deep into that, cause they don't appear for a long long time in the story (think 2 expansions. The free trial only goes up to the first expansion [heavensward] while these 2 are in the second [stormblood].) That is all I will say other than do not skip cutscenes.

  6. if you go the full distance in your playthough and make it through shadowbringers to see you revist this teaser but by then the full cinematic should be out at that time. welcome to the fold I hope you have fun!

  7. If you watch any of the other trailers (which I highly recommend) make sure to wait to watch them after you’ve completed the the previous expansion, especially wait to watch the Heavensward trailer since it contains spoilers for the end of A Realm Reborn.

  8. If this is how you reacted to Endwalker teaser trailer, I could just imagine what your reaction would be to the other expansion trailers… like that of Shadowrbringers

  9. So the guy with the shield is the stand-in for the player character. The model is the default male "hyur" (human) model, and was used as the stand in for the main character in trailers going back to the beginning of the game. Which means you can play as him if you wish.

  10. Your astonished gaze following the whale across the screen was just perfect, it's a real pleasure to see such genuine amazement 😀

Good news is, that's not even the full trailer : as always, SE will release longer and longer versions of it across the coming months as they reveal more and more about what's awaiting us.
To compare, current expansion's trailer (Shadowbringers), ended over 7 minutes long :3

Also, each expansion grew better in terms of story-telling, animation and cinematic design, Shadowbringers ending up being a real emotional rollercoaster ; yet it's Endwalker that will have to conclude the main story started a decade ago in what everyone expects (quite logically) to be an explosive and gigantic finale. No need to say that the hype is dangerously accelerating, for better or worse…

As for the game itself, as many said, it starts slowly. ARR, the "base game", was rushed, a bit corny and a lot average, because of harsh circumstances that are nowadays unknown to new players. Heavensward, the first expansion, corrected that masterfully, and the rest followed these steps.
But the best advice would be : enjoy and explore at your own pace, you'll catch up anyway. Oh, and do your Main Story Quest in priority 😉

  11. The main character being on the moon is a reference to final fantasy 4 were the final area was on the moon and the final fantasy 4 protagonist being a paladin like the main character of the endwalker trailer. The parallels go further due to the final fantasy 4 protagonist starting the game as a dark knight weres the final fantasy 14 main character ends the shadowbringers trailer (the dlc before this one) as a dark knight

  12. Masayoshi Soken, the composer for FFXIV is one of the best video game composers out there, he is definitely filling Uematsu's shoes well and easily comparable to Keiichi Okabe, NieR's composer. There is a collab between NieR and FFXIV and Okabe has made so far 2 masterpieces by mixing Soken's and his own music, however do yourself a favor and wait with looking it up.

  13. Long time FFXIV fan, and it’s great to have you along for the journey as a new player. You’re gonna love it! You got my sub because of your speculative nature on things (love lore) and your thirst. Haha!

  14. Man, when you get the chance to get caught up (gonna take a few months), i suggest rewatching this just to appreciate the fact that this is the twins' first appearance in a trailer, finally

  15. Glad to see someone new joining the FFXIV fray! Watching this trailer first has got to be crazy confusing but at least it doesn't have a bunch of spoilers in it. I would personally avoid the other trailers as they do have spoilers in them about what came before. Also, people mention that 2.x is a bit slow but compared to other MMOs it's not bad at all since they've gone back and tweaked it a bit in 5.1, I believe. The only thing that I will admit is truly slow is getting really cool abilities for the early jobs in the game. Once you get past 50 and start approaching 60 the uniqueness of the jobs starts to show a bit more. To that end, don't be afraid to experiment with multiple jobs as you don't need multiple characters to do so.

  16. Fantastic video, love your energy and cheeriness! If you haven't already, I recommend you watch the other expansion videos too! ♡
Welcome to the game, I hope you have a great time with all of us. ^_^

  17. you shouldn't watch trailers before getting there cuz you've already spoiled a fair few things here
square enix are famous for spoilers in trailers of course, and hell there's a minion in the game that's a major spoiler just walking around

edit: the writer for shadowbringers and endealker is really good and she's staying on for a while so don't spoil yourself

what you saw was a new job that is dedicated to friend of yoshi-p who recently passed away whom loved this game and he loved gundam

  19. I hope you're still going through the base game. It will grind you down. But once you get into HEAVENSWARD. You will rewarded for your time. Once you get to Shadowbringers. You will be rewarded for your effort.
