New Final Fantasy XIV Player's Experience After 168 Hours (WoW Classic to FF14)

Warning: Contains spoilers up to the beginning of Stormblood

After playing 7 days in /playtime on FF14 in the past month and a half, I wanted to share some of my thoughts about it after coming from WoW Classic. Is “A Realm Reborn” / 2.0 as bad as people say? Is it a weeb game? Is it fun for a Classic WoW player? Yes.

  1. Just use ACT dude, just don't talk about dps with your group(unless you are with a group you know).
Everyone who cares about endgame in FFXIV basicly use ACT(dmg meter)… honestly you can use FFXIV launcher and customize your interface, reshade/Gshade to improve graphics etc. As long as your modifications don't affect others noone will ban you for that, however don't speak about those things in game because it might get you tossed into GM jail. The only reason why SE need to be hard on 3rd party is because of the laws in Japan, but they won't scan your files or anything.

So yeah, go mod crazy just don't talk about it or use stuff which changes how the game function such as bots, mechanic changes(mouseovers), or automatic scripting etc.
Even Esfand use FFXIVlauncher for speech bubbles, Pyromancer use Gshade, most top raiders stream with ACT etc.
