The first cinematic was related to the 1.0 version of the game, which was shut down and replaced with A Realm Reborn, it takes place 5 years before A Realm Reborn =D
Its a feature of Final Fantasy 14 that you can play every Job (Class) with a single Character. You can change anytime you want. Thats why the "main Character" is a different Class in every Cinematic
And yes, Heavensward and Stormblood are included in the free to play version of the game
You get your Mount at Story-Level 20. If you did not had it, you certainly were not in the Endwalker-Area… in this game every Expension-Area is locked behind the Story-Level (in this case 80+)
Can you let me back in your server bro? It's been 6 years
Here Is My Twitch If you want to follow my journey https://www.twitch.tv/heavenlydruyt
"Can you actually wield that brush in the game?" – Yes. The class is called Pictomancer.
"Is that the girl we were training with?" – No. Also earlier when the same person was in the heavy armor at the beginning of the shadowbringers cinematic with the Katana? That's the same guy. He's the main villain of that expansion.
"I feel like I was there before" – No, if you're only level 30 or so then you were most definitely NOT in Sharlayan yet, trust me. And that city is called Old Sharlayan.
"Is there power scaling in this game?" – Well there certainly seems to be, but the theme of all Final Fantasy games is that a group of unlikely allies band together to take down the big bad of their respective game
for example in 9 a thief bands together with a princess and a knight, as well as a mage going through a crisis of identity and a journey of self discovery, as well as a mercenary that was originally after his head, and a very young summoner…. As well as a… Qu? Which is a large creature that learns skills based on what it eats, but all Qu's favorite food is frogs.
Additionally the very first cinematic was for FF14 1.0 which was scrapped when the game had to be entirely remade because of how colossally it failed due to the company making it with such horrid coding and scripts and without features most MMO's very commonly had. Realm Reborn was 1.0's remake into the game as we see it today, so Realm Reborn is referred to as '2.0.' Then every expansion onward is referred to the next higher number as they go on, so currently the game is in 7.0 or 7.1 due to the raid patches and whatnot.
On top of all of this, there is no need to make alternate characters to play a different class, as one singular character can learn and level up to max every single class in the game if you want to, so you aren't restricted. On top of this, you can visit the aesthetician to change certain limited looks, but if you wanted to altar your characters looks entirely you can buy a phantasia from the mogstation.
FF14 has some of the greatest songs ever committed to a game
"stormblood looks chill" he says, referencing the one expansion that has BLOOD in the title…
Good luck with the stream if you do that. It's a long journey, and try to enjoy the story along the way. My guess is you are mistaking that city in the trailer for Limsa Lominsa, one of the starting cities that also has a lot of white stone and is on the water. Anyways, have fun on your journey.
FFXIV 1.0 – soo bad they replaced the director and producer with one guy who then said "we're going to burn it all down and rebuild it, and make it canon"
ARR- really slow burn with a focus on world building that seems tedious but trust us "it get's better in heavensward" 😉
Heavensward- Estinien!!!!!!!! (He's the Azure Dragoon!) also it did get get much better
Stormblood-feels like it could have been 2 expansions, with a slow first half but picks up in the second half of the base expansion. also "PS3 died for this"
Shadowbringers- "Welcome to Shadowbringers" and where the Emotional Vampires are chomping at the bit for streamers to hurry up and get to 😉
Endwalker- Where everything comes together and is the great feeding ground for those Emotional Vampires.
Dawntrail- time for a vacation and some simple adventuring but you know it's never simple
shadowbringers goes hard. Also no that's not the same girl lol, that's a guy
Few tips without spoiling:
The angel-looking creature wasn't a god, but something else.
The person in the armor that gets slain by us in the trailer and the girl you train with are not the same person.
Also, the different Auras are just a visual thing. There is actual auras used in game for certain abilities though.
The red Aura on Samurai is in game, for example, as an ability called Meditate.
"do the gods come after us now?" Well technically we go after the gods since level 21 or so like we really dont like them
FYI, you get your first mount from the Main Story Quest at around level 20 or so. If you did like me and leveled well past that doing side quests and stuff, you need to go back and progress the MSQ until it gives you your first mount.
Find a good clan to join. Also if you have a few stream watchers you can usually use that as a way to get people to play with you
shadowbringers is my favorite expansion story wise
The 'powerful guy' who shot the dragon in the Heavensward animation isn't a guy at all. If you look, it's a squad of dragoons slamming into the dragon with spears and bringing it down. The specialty of dragoons in Final Fantasy (or lancers, in some games; in FFXIV you start as a lancer) is the ability 'Jump'. You leap into the sky and slam down to destroy your enemy. Dragoons in FFXIV can jump like superheroes and convert that kinetic energy into devastating attacks.
So the dragon was reeling as the dragoons were levering their spears in its flesh to finish it off faster.
The auras don't really do anything but represent ability usage. Dark Knights wield complex passion to evoke a type of eldritch energy which broils and yearns to lash out. I would go into more detail but it'd spoil their job quests.
Basically, the purple aura you're seeing is Meteor evoking the energy. They actually end up with a powerful attack later called Shadowbringer that deals that wave attack which killed off the light being. Without spoiling anything, the Dark Knight's source of power is incredibly meta and surprisingly prophetic, as nobody in the universe understands them until extremely late in the game (and they don't make the connection between their power and the source of their power at all in-character).
Power scaling Final Fantasy is knowing among the likes of Gods (like the dragon in the second trailer you saw that fought the old man) Disneys donald duck is unironically on of the strongest mages in final fantasy history.
Glad you liked the game hope you play more of it, the music only gets better. Always cool to see more FF cutie players on twitch 🥵
