  1. I legitimately love the sound it makes when I smack someone with my book. Hyped to try out new Summoner, but I feel like I'm in the same boat as far as play style, if summoner is a bust, Bard seems promising!

  2. I'm kinda disappointed in smn now. I'm like you, want magic dots and pets. Ill level it just to get to 90 as well as scholar to 90 for free and think that will be it for that class now.

  3. Luckily for you, I'd say that Bard is currently as its best. Not only does song management feel less of a hassle, DoTs easier to manage, but also their utility offers so much especially with dmg buff. They might either tweak them or nerf them in the future but currently they're the best range dps. Imo

  4. If you haven’t been paying attention to information from the recent live letters and media tour then I would imagine you’d be completely lost with the new Summoner. Hell, I ate all of that info up including the patch notes and it STILL took me a good two days to fully wrap my head around it and set up my bars. That being said, as a long time Summoner main who’s seen every iteration and change over the years I absolutely LOVE these changes. It feels a little weird not using dots after so long but your abilities all SLAP HARD on Summoner now. Plus, it has really good utility not only with a raise but with a personal shield and an excog-like HoT from Phoenix which you can put on anyone you want.

  5. I always wanted to try Summoner, but it didn’t really feel like it. When I think summoner, I’m thinking of Yuna from FFX. Now with the new changes I just might be able to live out my fantasy.

  6. I like the new Summoner, but I also liked the old one. I made the point that Dancer is actually half of what Machinist used to be back during Heavensward and I hope they take that old play style and rework it into another job in the future. I know a lot of people didn't like the old Summoner, but to be honest, I didn't mind it and I really enjoyed it. Thematically, it didn't fit Summoner and I get that, but no longer having a DoT class or a pet class feels bad man. They do have job themes they can draw from such as Beastmaster (FF5) and Puppeteer (FF11). Without being tied down to what Summoner should be, I think it would be easier for them to build a new job around the old concept without being bogged down with the specifics of what a Summoner actually is.

  7. I tried relearning it on my 80 but it was still confusing so I made a Lvl 1 ARC. It can be a pain having to do MSQ again for unlocks but it's not too bad. New muscle memory is starting to kick in. An FC mate used POTD to relearn some of her jobs since it starts you at lvl 1. Haven't tried that yet.

  8. I agree Cob, I just logged into my summoner tonight and was like WTH?!?!

It feels like a whole new class. You got me thinking about ff10, but in ff10 her summons were permanent weren't they? They didn't just swoop in, take 1 swing at something and sod off.

I mean its super flashy. And it's more like destro now than affliction. But I miss having dots and having a variety of summons that can be kept out permanently. Being stuck with carbon carbuncle as your only perma pet doesn't feel great to me. And having to build up to summoning them. Definitely an interesting change

  9. I've only tried smn briefly its my main job but the reaper has been calling so…but from what I've tried I'm actually loving the faster spells and damage I was never one that did affection spec in wow mine was demo and destro so for me this is like a hybrid job now can't wait to get stuck in soon and I also have been fighting the login raidboss 3 hours and 4 crashes yesterday so I know the frustration Sophie is feeling keep up the content cob always entertaining .
