  1. The Squadron part is that you can do dungeons with your squadrons. They do lots of dps and able to use a certain limit break they share. So I think for them having to work on trust seems a bit off, considering the trust is a downside version of the squadron system

  2. The reason they made tanking and healing easy is because of all those r/xiv players who are like: HELLO EVERYONE I HAVE TANK ANXIETY AND TODAY I QUEUED UP FOR SASTSHA AS A MARAUDER FOR THE FIRST TIME AND IT WAS VEWWY SCAWY

yoshi P should start putting DPS checks into normal content so we can start inciting some DPS anxiety into these babies as well

  3. I agree the state of healing is way too easy at the moment (dropped healing in Shb due to one button spam being miserable, picked up Sage which alleviates it some), but I think the point of the damage down comment was that healers were punished for a DPS’s mistake, not the dps that made the mistake. It was awkward design and meant the healers had to put in extra mitigation and healing to keep that person alive while that person doesn’t do anything different, basically meaning healers were punished and dps weren’t.

  4. My only reason for disagreeing with the Vulnerability stacks is because 70% of the savage mechanics just oneshot or combo you within a second, long before you can get a GCD heal off anyways. There's no point to having the healers being burdened with mistakes if the important mistakes are just gonna wipe the raid outright. I want harder raids to have better room for error during their peak moments first, cause it doesn't work as a meaningful consequence otherwise.

  5. Im pretty sure ultimate will come out in the next patch. Yoshi is aware that most people are done with savage and with new games came out like lost ark, he wants the players taking break to go back and do ultimate, that will keep em busy for 1-2 months. I also love the idea of duels in any map like against sady in azim steppe, it’ll make the maps busy and yes very mmo-like. They should implement stuff like that and use the old maps for new contents instead of making a new instance.

  6. Gilgamesh and Sadu duels would be AWESOME. That would liven up the Azim Steppe a bit. As for Gilgamesh, maybe his spawn location could be in a completely random zone. That would fit his character since he's always stumbling through dimensions!

  7. I disagree with giving them critique for not pulling in another dev team to work on the squadron system, if its only for the squadron system. Wouldn't be cool for the programmers to have a 3-4 month project and then sent out the door. If they had enough smaller projects that could be chained together, then yes, i would agree that it makes sense for Square to pull in some programmers to work on it.
But the problem might not even be solvable wether or not they wanted to, since as far as i can understand, the cofifi situation in japan is rather grim, and even hiring people might not even be a reasonable possibility.

I REALLY want to heal more as a healer. Its quite sad that the content you heal the most in and might actually use your GCD heals, is dungeons 😐 but since the current philosophy for healer is to be more a supporter then a healer, this might never really happen, until they decide to change their philosophy.
Its quite the luxery that the healer is using their "oh shit" buttons as a resource to have dps uptime, rather then as a "shit just hit the fan" helper. 🙁

Why not give both damage vulnability AND damage down? I only get mildly annoyed by the dam vuln stacks as a healer, but the dps doesnt care about their HP unless they are dead, make them care more by ripping their e-peen so they might actually start to learn the encounters and MOVE OUT OF STUFF. And yes, i am shitting on the army of shit-for-brains melee damage dealers i have to deal with in any type of content.
To add to this, make some tank specific mechanics that gives the tank a damage vulnability AND a healing down, so they have some more stuff to think about, instead of having the option to just straight up tank privilege most mechanics. If you want to make tank invul cheesing less appealing, add in that 20 seconds after using invuln you get a damage down.

  8. My only issue with the vuln stacks was DPS ignoring mechanics then blaming the healers when they died to unavoidable raid aoes from having too many vuln stacks. It became less of a "burden" and more of a mentality that a death automatically equals bad healer.

  9. Came back for Endwalker and incredibly dissapointed this successful game that spends TONS of money on ads and paid reviews still hasn't stepped up the endgame content quantity at all. Guess I'll be unsubbing and find a game where the profits aren't all moved to other games from the company.

  10. My take on the damage down was the responsibility of not getting hit is now on the dps. To many dps will eat a vulnerable stack just because they don't want to lose dps. Now they don't have a choice.

Could always go with both vulnerable and weakness.

  11. Healer is already the hardest role to play in Savage/Ultimate content. They don't need people getting vuln stacks on top of already having to heal/rez their fuck ups. Healers arent "babied", they're thought about more often than other jobs because any difficulty increase regardless of whether it's AOEs, tank busters, DPS checks or any other type of mechanic ultimately falls on the healer.

  12. The Squadron system is the 1.0 of Trust system. I assume Xenos isn't aware that your squadron serves as the "trust" system for level 50 dungeons and under. It's a nice system for anyone who doesn't wish to queue up, or would just rather play with NPC's. It is easier to level and tweak your squadron compared to levelling the Scions — and the Squadron also isn't using the 'time-based' clear-speed of the Trust system, so squadron runs are very quick. It's not as bad in Endwalker, but when Trust was released in ShB, getting all trust members to level 80 was a boorish slog. Squadrons? You can send them out on missions or physically join them in dungeons, and they level up pretty darn quick.

  13. I don't mind that healers get burdened with healing, but basically vuln stacks punish the healer and in many cases people just ignore vuln stacks. Theres many fights where the strat is "ignore the mechanic" because the vuln doesn't matter, the vulns need to be made more powerful when they appear. I was doing a fight as dps and I had 6 vuln stacks at one point. It just didn't matter for me OR the healers really. I would prefer more RAW damage than vuln stacks.

  14. Well, changing vuln to damage down debuffs will at least help PF groups because trying to heal through a group of people with 5 gamer stacks is the definition of hell for a player.
I understand that when you're playing in a static it makes it more challenging to have the vuln stacks because eveeyone more or less knows what they're doing, though.

  15. Thank you so much for calling out the healer treatment. I feel like most FF14 content creators don’t address how us healers are in some ways coddled and in other ways completely ignored, and it’s refreshing to hear someone call it like it is.

They took away our DPS buttons because they want us to heal, but then we get fights with so little damage that no healer parties have already cleared them. So which is it? Are we meant to focus on healing? Or are we support DPS that sustain HP on occasion? It makes no sense that we’re given baby toy DPS rotations that are all exactly the same but then not given any damage to heal.

At least go hard on Sage being the DPS healer so I at least have the option to do something more engaging. Make it the Gunbreaker healer, not just every other healer but with +1 button, and also fix Toxikon. Give it a cool down at double the potency and it would be way better.

  16. I really like Gorilla and Car gimmick in alexander. Sure DPS is lower, but these people are the one which control if you will wipe or not. Without gorilla, you will die due to bomb, without car (and how to use it efficiently), you won't be able to kill hard(something) goblin before they explode, enrage, tank will be dead due to you are too late to kill doll. And seriously, I would like to see gauntlet again in raid.

For dmg down debuff, I think it is to shifting responsibility. Vulnerable debuff = responsibility only with healer, dmg down debuff = responsibility in all player (heck I wish they put healing debuff too). After all, with vulnerable debuff, most of the time, you need only 1 adloq (at that time) to safe the person. (ps: you know what debuff is the best ? PERMANENT TWICE/THRICE OF RUIN).

Healer DPS rotation is the fucking bad joke which I always read. Let them gives you 10 dot, now you call that rotation ? Seriously, all of those people does not even know what they are talking about, what they want is actually a busy activity like what AST have. (Well if what they mean is healer from WoW which basically DPS > free stuff, then they need to remake all healer).

  17. I heavily disagree with the take on healing.

Not that i am against having the healers do more actual healing, instead of just hitting their oGCDs and CDs and just keep spamming their Damage Button. Vuln Stacks alone don't improve this at all. A good amount of mechanics in fights just kill you when you have Vuln and aren't a Tank. This won't increase healing, only rezzing.
If you want to keep your Vuln stacks and improve healing, you would have to lower the base damage of all enemy attacks to make more room to fit non-lethal vulns in. And also lower all healing values. Failing mechanics will then result in more healing work for the healers, but will of course change nothing when nobody fails and incourages ignoring mechanics, since they don't kill you (:

I clearly prefer the damage downs, and running into the Enrage over and over while people optimize their play and get less damage downs in time.

They could also just add in a stacking healing down debuff. So people are more difficult to heal when they f up.

  18. 8:33 that mentality is non-existent. I've had healers straight up refuse to rez with SMN (not RDM) in party because they deem their 1 button rotation to be more important than a dps turbo drifting their stuff. This is after a raidwide where there isn't shit to heal and one healer can easily top the group up in the 10+ seconds of downtime while the other rezzes.

  19. 9:40 this whole scenario is why I MUCH prefer XIV boss design over WoW's. Some bosses were entirely timer based, but a lot of phase transitions have been percentage based where you sometimes get disgusting overlaps if you phase at the wrong time. It wasn't that uncommon for groups to do "too much" damage and then have to sit around doing literally nothing for 10-15 seconds in order to not have a mechanic overlap whether it be immediate or down the line.

Azshara phase 1 is the one that immediately comes to mind where in the transition you have to do effectively simon says with soaks and other stuff. In phase 1 though she periodically shoots a lingering instant kill laser to cut the arena in half. Turns out it is really hard to soak something when there is a laser going through it for the duration you have to soak it so the solution was if that mechanic started you just stopped damage and….waited.

  20. To be fair, what do you want a shit Ultimate Raid or a good one? The fact that a year ago they apparently said they were finished and just doing the finishing touches, it might just be that they weren't too pleased and wanted to change some things, possibly found maybe certain mechanics were too simple or not really working.

  21. Dude 3rd party shit for hunts means fuck all.. How you gonna try and call Yoshi P out? The difference between that type of "3rd" party program and ACT is, one is used for toxic players who probably had shit dps and needed a parser to improve.

  22. we know what's happening behind the scenes they have stated they have open hiring on all the time cause square takes the money this game makes and experiment with making shitty games like Balan wonderland that don't sell

their still doing this with how shitty Babylon's fall is looking so fuck any hope of the 14 team getting budget to do crazy cool stuff and not the same stuff then cripple into delays when they actually try to do cool stuff

  23. They try to change combat system and the contents at the same time. It’s possible that the Ultimate isn’t ready as the party wipe so many times without a clear.

Aside, most battle designers and ppl that work on XIV are in their senior now. You can’t just pull someone have no knowledge how the contents are designed in let them making FFXIV. Even Yokotaro has trouble with Nier raid he made that cause players to log off the game if they don’t dodge certain mechanics and XIV team remove that. So pretty much it’s all about efficiency since the game need to be developed overtime.

  24. Agree on Bozja Duels, cool idea on Paper but the way to get into them is too convoluted, you need the right Critical encounter to pop, then beat it without getting hit, then get lucky to get into the duel. how are you supposed to practice it that way, and always need to keep the correct bozja abilities just in case you get into a duel.

  25. DRGs usually died to B4B being up during big raid AoEs since that caused them to take extra damage. Ranged phys would die before a DRG does if it's only magic defense taken into account, tbh.
