I guess we all saw it coming, the vocal minority is salty over the fact that a WoW Refugee managed to clear one of the more challenging encounters in FFXIV.

I like how you made this a short video meanwhile gaming kinda made his vid an hour long lol
Can't watch him since i seen him rage on streams, dude has some deep buried anger management issues
It's so pathetic and childish how people take his success as a personal attack on their own struggles and issues. It's fine to feel salty and upset about it, people aren't judged based on their feelings, it's what you do with those feelings that matter, and the people who took it upon themselves to attack him on Twitter and try to shame his accomplishments are just so pathetic it's almost astonishing.
I don't think there's any controversy when the person himself says that there isn't much toxicity really, the main problem of XIV community especially on high end raiders seems to be calling out other ppl as being toxic. I got to say most of the most toxic ppl I've met on chaos have been in fact high end raiders, however they always called out casuals as being the most toxic because ofc it has to be
I am on Chaos, playing tanks and phys ranged, lets GOOOOOOOOO
I've seen lately that people in the 14 community have a very weird and loose definition of what counts as a carry or illegitimate clear, as if only the maximum difficulty counts, and you need to log at least 50+ hrs of prog for an Ultimate to count. Like seriously who gives a shit if he had a party of decorated veterans coach him through it? Rich did his part. He pulled the weight he had to pull, and that's enough. Smells like people are just jealous that he has a cool weapon and title and they don't.
Dude the FFXIV community is super toxic about every little thing
He's been getting free handouts ever since he started playing and now that he does something that requires effort people lose their shit lol
BTW End Walker was already completed before this new surge of players
big deal!? he cleared it. good for him. let him be! They all Salty cuz they cant.
To be fair, the community is happy for Rich and they will be happy for Asmon.
Its only a small vocal minority that's angry about streamers clearing Ultimates.
Let's not judge the whole community by a few selfish individuals.
if these streamers showed me anything, it's how great mmos can be. my problem has always been finding groups for anything. it's the reason why i quit wow ten years ago. not waiting for groups and them actually staying until you finally beat the dungeon sounds awesome.
I ultimately don't really care. But its pretty obvious he was hard carried. The thing is 8 ppl similar to his lvl of play could definitely clear it but they'd take a lot longer even with good strats.
I've cleared Savage fights I had no business clearing because I lucked into a statics reclear on PF when they had one missing.
Sure I cleared it, but at the end of the day I contributed way less to the clear the everyone else in the group.
Currently Prog'ing on Uwu with a premade static with 8 people who have never entered ultimate at all (though a few of us are high teir raiders). WE are somewhere around 50-60 hours, currently on Ultimate Annihilation, and prolly clearing this week if our progress stays true. Rich did his Ucob clear in 40-60 hours, with very good players who knew what they were doing. He probably looked into guides and info during his offtimes as well, as should everyone who attempts this content. Rich 100% did the work for it, you can't be "carried" in an ultimate. One person fails one mechanic = you WILL fail. Ucob might be a bit more forgiving with deaths than Uwu, however unless you are clearing an ultimate while its current content patch, you are being assisted by the work others have put in previously. Guides, strats, the understanding of mechanics, class balance and cheese strats all "Carry" future raiders through the content. You still need to put in the work.
I've seen people get mad when a streamer didn't react to a scene the same way they did (usually after spending the last hour(s) telling them how they're going to cry), so I'm not surprised people are getting mad that Rich cleared an ultimate in a way that wasn't how they wanted it to happen.
it was Brilliant content <3, proud representant of Moogle, chaos DC just got to Shadowbringer, this game is brilliant, absolutely brilliant
It’s like if krillin went into a fight with 7 super sayians that he had on call, and his only contribution is surviving, yes that’s being hella carried. But I’m not sure why people are mad about it. Like has anyone every asked these streamers to help them clear , maybe it’s worth a try .
When I first heard about this I thought it was way worse than it was, like idk him abandoning a group and calling them trash before calling in the content creators. Which if that was it I’d have issues, but in ultimate there’s not proper carries. He was probably the least impactful member of the group yes, but he wasn’t carried, ultimate mechanics can very easily spiral into wipes for a single mistake. If playing with a fresh group it would’ve taken way longer and he would’ve had to dps a bit harder, but he still played very well. (Edit: I’m preparing for my first ultimate soon, once I get the last gear I need for uwu dancer bis I’m looking forward to it, I was interested before this is a slight push)
when you only feel youre someone when others fail, then iam really sad for you 🙁
gods, what a bunch of salty, envious bitches. At the end of the day, it was a fun stream for the viewers, he is a professional streamer/entertainer. Watching noobs wipe for hours isn't fun to watch. Watching pros clear an ultimate is. Simple as that. He created the best possible experience for his viewers, and for a streamer, that is what matters most.
See I think the real drama just stems from two things. The fact that practically everyone else who did a legitimate clear had to work much harder in learning prog and they very reasonably think he didn't deserve to clear, yet he now gets to claim the same achievement like he experienced the same process, and the fact that watching a streamer get carried by top players does not make for fun stream content. Both of those are very reasonable things to be upset about and both of those I'm sure Rich knew going in.
I think if he really wants to make things right with the community he should just do a prog and clear with a group that hasn't cleared, minus 1 raid leader who has.
Am I personally upset over this? Not unless he starts bragging about the clear or belittling the amount of time other players have to spend on prog. That being said, I think that he should appeal to the outraged players just as a show of good faith. After all he is part of the community and will be staying for the foreseeable future, it's best not to create animosity where it can be avoided.
Also as a side note, just my personal opinion but any title that can be paid for/boosted is just never going to be a true symbol of skill regardless of the circumstances of attainment. You want to have a title that proves you're a god at this game then solo PoD or HoH. It's blatantly obvious if you've paid for that title and it's reliant on your own skill and nobody else which makes them the absolute pinnacle of prestige titles in this game. So basically, if you're the type of person pissed off at Rich for getting your title easily, you went for the wrong title to begin with.
One thing should be made clear, maybe not in this particular case, but yes people, it’s not only possible to carry someone to a clear, it’s one of the biggest in game player services and source of a big portion of community drama. People see a group of top players holding Rich’s hand through prog and see nothing different than the same kind of party you would see in a purchased clear. I’d have to watch the streams myself to say if they’re right in thinking that, but it’s definitely the first conclusion most people would draw.
Not only did Rich do the mechanics, but he took the time off stream, and after attempts to learn the mechanics. He spent time with Mr. Happy working on his Machinist rotation. He put more effort in that what was shown. People need to grow up, and lay off. Congrats to Rich. One day I may try to achieve this. Not sure though if I want this one, uWu or TEA first.
totally agree. these jerks need to go to wow and leave ff14 for those who want to have fun playing the game.
