Yoshi-P Announced that Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker is needing more time, and thus had to delay the game by 2 weeks, and this has impacted me and others, so I wanted to share my thoughts on the topic

I am sad and disappointed about the delay. I was looking forward to playing through Shadowbringers with the new summoner changes. Now I have that time off to just get through Shadowbringers.
I've just taken a closer look, is that the 9999 damage Tonberry mug, Brian? Got that as a birthday gift from my friend and it looks extremely similar.
Being a software developer myself, and a father to a young child, I feel your dilemma – it's hard enough to get big chunks of time to do gaming with parenting duties and work deadlines, let alone enough time to really soak in and finish the new MSQ content. As a gamer what helps me is to realize that once Endwalker releases, it's not going anywhere, and I'll have all the time in the world to enjoy it. I really hope you can focus on gaming first, and content creation later. My hope is that you're able to really enjoy the MSQ like a fine wine and make those memories you want to have, rather than freel pressured to go through it quick just to get some content out for us!
Tbf my biggest worry is the servers handling traffic as they have already been bad so I'm happy with the delay to give more time to get them ready.
Who gets upset about things like this?,…
Hey man, even people like you as content creators should do 40 hour work weeks so the Monday-Friday 9-5 so you having weekends off is a great thing to do.
Got a funeral to go to can’t go but it’s fine
I was slightly disappointed, because I always have this rut of not wanting to do anything when I'm waiting for an expansion release. I wasn't planning on taking time off for it but with the delay I was like. "Well might as well take time off for the new day." So it worked out for me.
I’m finally getting back into video games after such a rough toxic relationship and how I was never able to game. I knew something was going to happen with FFXIV. Covid has ruined so many company’s. Even I’m surprised the game has lasted this long and love every expansion that has released!
Luckily I had no problem moving my schedule around.
Two weeks not a big problem. Lost Ark far more frustrating.
They need to take all the time they need to make it right and fix DRK. If they have to delay it again I am fine with that.
I had 4 days off around Thanksgiving and would have enjoyed playing EW over that time but it didn't work out this way. That's fine, I'm willing to wait for a release that Yoshi-P is happy with. This is his artwork and I'm just an enjoyer of it. Plus we only get to play through it for the first time once and having it be more polished is good for everyone.
For me, when a new expansion of Final Fantasy XIV drops, it's all about getting through the MSQ without spoilers. I take my time and enjoy it, but my playtime is limited with a full time job and family commitments (like many others). I need to shut out social media until I finish the story or risk getting spoiled. As much as the new jobs and crafting,e tc call to me, I know there will be time to do those after the dust settles on the MSQ. I'm not into raiding so it's nice to have other things to looking forward to after I finish the story.
I didn't take time off to play the expansion, but my heart goes out to the people that did. I know a lot of people have a ton of unused vacation time as it has been tricky to travel these past couple years, so it was nice to have this to look forward to after a tough year.
As for me, I'm taking a break from the game from the game until the early access, so that I can not be burned out from trying to finish goal X and Y before.
I couldn't take any time off since i work retail, and they basically blackout anything near thanksgiving to xmas. :/ so its not really changing anything for me, but it still sucks, i'll just play when im off work. Glad that Yoshi-P is doing what he feels is right though, and I hope the time will help smooth out the launch as much as possible. I'm going to enjoy the game regardless, and am super hyped.
For me it was always the friday I could take off work, also working in sw development here so moving the day from november 19th to december 3rd was no problem. Guess I will use the extra weeks before launch to make sure I am way ahead on the next things, so that I know that after work I can spend time enjoying the expansion.
I do however know that there are many who can't move around days like me, and I understand those among them that are upset. You had a perfect setup for sitting down and enjoying the story and now that is gone.
i do feel for the people who had their plans disrupted so badly, that just sucks
but after seeing how rushing to meet a deadline has wrecked so many game releases these days i'm not terribly upset with Squeenix. I'd rather them fix an obvious problem THEN release the game instead of release it then hope they can patch it.
big picture wise i can also see why the FFXIV team desperately wants to get this right. All eyes are on them right now, Endwalker has massive hype from all quarters of the gaming world focused on this release. This is really a first for them, and they pretty much HAVE to nail this or it'll do massive harm to the brand and waste a lot of momentum. If they drop a lackluster or buggy product now it could really cripple them going forward. After sinking this many resources and having the biggest stage in the MMO world basically handed to them, i'm kind of glad the people in charge have the good sense not to squander it just because they don't want to miss a deadline they set for themselves.
The delay was definitely a dissapointment, but I think everyone understands that it is sometimes neccesary to insure a good product. Something I found very sad though is how the community is treating each other when it comes to feelings about this. It's ok to be sad, it's ok to be dissapointed. I've seen people calling these responses toxic, which is just so insane to me.
I think people need to respect that this affects some people a lot more than others. Some just don't have the time to game as they used to, and they took leave of work specifically so they could enjoy the game. And those people might not get to play as much now, which is really unfortunate
The delay for extend polish is fine I'm content the ffxiv team just make sure to deliver quality assurance. And I'm fine by that they are role model with mmos for quality assurance that I'm glad about. It I rather play something not broken out the gate vs something that could be a buggy crashing chaos.
Your good boundaries and your practiced empathy have made you one of my favorite content creators!
I was bummed out at first but I realized I can use the time to do more stuff to prepare for Sage and also get some RL stuff done before Endwalker.
POCKET SAND!!!!!
Thanks for the video Brian. I think your message is great, and although I'm bummed out, I know I can use the extra gap in my time now to spend the holiday time with family after all the tough times recently. I hope others do the same
FF 14 players : ff14 delayed 2 weeks not so bad!
Also FF 14 players : I pre order to get early acess!
Honestly the delay made it so i could take time off. So it worked out well for me
With the holiday, I was off 19-26. Now, I'll only be able to take 3rd-6th. Similar to you, I am going to have a crap ton of work to come back to, and my department is currently down 2 people, so my vacation was going to be rocky anyway. Everyone else has had their vacations this year. If I don't use some of my days, they are forfeit. I won't be able to do everything I'll want to do, but I do get a few days around Christmas and New years.
Thanks to my position at work, I have a more flexible schedule, so I was able to move my vacation forward two weeks, which is great.
I am disappointed about the delay, but I do trust in the decision if it helps to polish off the game/launch. A buddy of mine is very angry about the having requested time off and no longer gets to use to enjoy the game. His main frustration outside of that is the game being delayed only 2 weeks out. He felt as though it should have been obvious if the game needed delayed and should have been instead of waiting so long. I view it a bit differently, but he remains unconvinced and has lost his hype.
The thing is I believe it would have been perfectly fine because the time that was wasted was on little story changes some of which Yoship say only he would be able to tell the difference and that's not a reason you should delay it.
"Impacted".
It's two weeks dood.
If you cannot play at release because of something that is a good thing, you can play week or a month after release. The game is not going anywhere.
For me, sadly I can't play what seems to be the greatest MMORPG of all time and the ending of a masterpiece that will never be replicated again in the industry, at release, and have to wait until 21 December.
Tough luck. It's better for this amazing game.
No one is validated to have "feelings".
It looks soooo God btw, can NOT wait!!!!
