  1. something interesting about the singularity reactor, theres this tier of raids called "ultimate" which is basically the hardest tier in the game, and basically is a "what if scenario" with bosses you already fought, theres curently (as of april 4th) 3 fighs on this tier and the next one is scheduled for april 26th and is based on king thordan and some other bosses from heavensward

  2. @Grinding Gear on a sidenote to the Bismark fight, if the island breaks you have a whole little cutscene for that before you get the FAILED screen

  3. The leviathan fight was a part of the game that the team was a little nervous about doing because of the earthquake and disaster at the Fukashima power plant. I think they wanted to do more but that event made them draw it back. This is a team that really has their hands checking the pulse of the community and while they had the fight and wanted to put it into the game they were unsure if they should. The fight could have cooler but they themselves drawled it back in response. I think it will stand as a memorial to those who lost their lives and I think the fights do a good job at that. I had to comeback after The Chrysailis and say you were in the middle of a lore bomb going off.

  4. I highly, HIGHLY recommend doing most if not all of the trials in the future on extreme just to see the new mechanics and stuff. And in fact, there's an incredible one in the knights of the round EX fight where you all have to stack in front of the healer with the tank in front to block a certain attack, and you're all given a debuff where you can't heal and its tool tip just says "There was nothing you could do" and that… FUCK that's a good part. But yeah most of the EX fights introduce something cool in there as well, especially the final bosses of each base expansion.

  5. Correction: Leviathan's patch, "Through the Maelstrom" was patch 2.2, which was the first part of ARR where they had more time and money and voice acting drastically increased. In ARR 2.0 and the patch 2.1 with the moogle king, they had to rush to replace Leviathan because a Tsunami was happening and it wasn't very appropriate to release that. So the original release 2.0 ARR and 2.1 ended up having almost no voice acting. But from 2.2, the amount increased drastically all of a sudden.

  6. At first Good king moogle mog was planned to be an optionnal trial and leviathan was planned to take his place but the Tsunami hitted Japan shortly before the patch so they changed it in the last minute to delay Leviathan because, well it's was not a good timing to release him

  7. Y'all didn't do the Ultima Weapon trial? I don't mean the Praetorium one, you pick up a quest in Mor Dhona (I think) to do that trial at an appropriate difficulty. It's not an extreme difficulty-wise though (maybe if you do it at min ilvl).

  8. So the story about Thornmarch. Initially they were going to do Leviathan, but then the big tidal wave happened, and SE decided late in dev that it would be insensitive to have a tidal-wave threatening primal right after a big tidal wave killed a bunch of people. So this was made in its place.

  9. Yes please do a Wall of Music…..gonna be really long list though. Also you guys need to make sure to do Urth's Font (aka Odin) because it is EASILY THE BEST OF THE ARR TRIALS, The Dragon's Neck and the 2 Relic Reborn Trials(although i have a pretty good idea where these 2 will end up). Keep it up guys!

Also some trivia about Thornmarch, when it originally came out back in 1.0 it was right after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Sqaure Enix didn't want to do offend or give people nightmares with the Titan or Leviathan fights so they instead wanted something happy and fun and so 1.0 got Thornmarch.

  10. Steps of Faith, pre-nerf, was the Roulette Killer. People couldn't do it, and those who'd already cleared would drop out as soon as they saw what they were doing, taking the penalty because they knew it would be less of a time waste than sticking around. You HAD to use the cannons to kill the adds, stun the turtle, use all three dragonkillers on the boss (and hold the boss in place with the chains to stop him dodging the second two), and even with all that the DPS check was tight. The real problem was that, even when it became obvious the run was a failure, you couldn't just wipe. You had to let the whole thing play out to the end before you could retry, which would take a while. If it wasn't for that I'd call it one of my favourite fights, and I'm still glad I managed to clear it pre-nerf with a good group. I kinda wish it was altered to be a bit shorter and emphasize the mechanics a bit more, because there are mechanics, they've just been made irrelevant between the nerfs and power creep in skill potencies and gear.

  11. You guys get a lot of comments which is awesome so I apologize if you've already been told this haha. Each of the ARR primals drop a horse that plays their boss theme by doing the Extreme mode. I did all of them solo at about level 72 with my Dragoon so it's pretty easy to get them all, took me about an afternoon. I spend a lot of time just hanging on the Garuda horse. Also once you get all of them you can do a quick little quest for a super horse that is really cool.

At the very least Garrett should get the Garuda horse so he can listen to her theme while traveling about.

  12. The Thornmarch fight is there because initially Leviathan was planned but there was a huge tsunami hitting Japan so they thought fighting Leviathan would be insensitive so they put in Thornmarch instead.

  13. My experience with Good King Mog was very different. That was my "this might be the best game ever made" moment, and I obviously sang the song like a Muppet for a full month, which made me 10x more attractive to my GF.

  14. 28:23 its probably important to point out that you are experiencing a vastly changed and nerfed experience from the original released version of this trial wich was way more interesting involved and much less forgiving, the current incarnation is kind of ajoke now compared to the original experience wich i really enjoyed

  15. Cape Westwind, a trail so good, it was removed in favor of a solo duty.

Also: You will need to make a new tier list for Stormblood, Shadowbringer, and Endwalker. As I think the Trials get better than these by a significant factor.

  16. The thing about steps of fate is that it was so hard it gate kept people literally from getting into ishguard. Which sucked when we just got heavenward. Now the fight is just boring and it was a godsend and curse

  17. You have to retcon the newly separated Porta Decumana/Ultima Weapon trial into this list, and preferrably in Epic tier. And trials continue to be a high, high point of each expansion.

Since you (probably) fight the trials in ilv way above the minimum it's sort of expected that a lot of them get steamrolled, and the mechanics tickle even less, so it's a shame some of the fights are neutered (so I think also considering the extreme versions when available would only be fair). The normal mode of Thordan is shamefully tank & spank, but the Thordan Ex is a blast.
