It's nice to see that the game devs are finding creative ways to mess with established mechanics. And that they've essentially gone "Look, you've been doing this game for long enough (barring story skippers), you know how we play things, it's up to you now to react to it because we're cranking up the speed of things." because things are definitely hitting faster in this expansion than they have in previous ones.

"The Dark Knight Cecil raids Mysidia with the Red Wings airship fleet to steal the Water Crystal for the King of Baron. The Mysidians are helpless and put up no resistance, but are nevertheless slaughtered in great numbers by the attackers. Later Cecil washes ashore near Mysidia after being attacked by Leviathan, but the inhabitants of Mysidia, unforgiving of his actions, cast spells on him such as Toad, Pig, and Poison when he returns.

It's not that he's gonna Dalamud the 13th. He's planning on opening up a big enough Voidgate to send every single Voidsent through. After a fashion, this would be a Rejoining, all the souls returning to the Lifestream. But the dead world will remain dead, but now empty. Remember, the story is he was gathering a lot of Voidsent, but now he's only having his Voidsent eat others. You don't need individuals to come over, if everyone's soul is stuffed into people sized clown cars.
If you want to ruin (not really) the theme of the trial forever search "hyadain four fiends" in youtube. The first result with the blond girl (barbariccia) in the thumbnail is what you're looking for. Edit for added clarity: uploader is "fruity bum bum"
they're all named after characters in dante's inferno, hence italian names.
6.3 was very subdued compared to other .3 patches. Rather it has been built up. I don't know how high they're gonna take this built up because I am so eager to know what Golbez is trying to do. I've heard by 7.0, something big is gonna happen and I just can't wait to find out. I was screaming NOOOO! When it said it will continue at my end of the MSQ chain.

While I can't be 100% certain, the crater on the moon in the 13th appears to be identical to the one on the source. Additionally, as everyone on the source was sundered by Hydaelyn, so was Zodiark. Considering that the 13th became ruined beyond the chance of a rejoining, that would mean it's possible that a fragment of Zodiark remains in the 13th that Golbez may be using as a power source.

I suggest you do bonus quests for the four archfiends. It's in Thavnair and it's really, really good & emotional and gives depth to them and Golbez!

lore dump, in final fantasy 4, the lunarians, to which cecil and golbez are a part of, come from the red moon, seeing this version, a future after cloud of darkness of the 13th, one where ff4 is now the focal point, and see that it actually has a red moon, good callback

the cagnazzo fight with the Mag roader mechanic from Stormblood cranked up to 11. its actually fairly easy if you just follow the lines with your eyes since theres usually several small spots that remain untouched as he ping pongs around.
yes an easy way to combat the compass spin mechanic in Rubicante is wait til he dashes with your toe on the line then stepping over as soon as the center is safe, because he dashes two more times. the safe space is always the center once the first dash goes off.
It's very subtle but there are themes of suicide in this MSQ especially with Golbez's plan. If you go back to the death of Cognazzo, you'll see he says something like, "Finally, I join the great flow" which suggests that he sacrificed himself to commit suicide. Which make sense considering that the 13th is a never ending cycle of death and rebirth and fiends like Cognazzo, and especially Golbez, want to end their suffering. It's a very heavy theme.
The only problem with Golbez's plan is that he wants all the fiends of the 13th to "rejoin" per se the Source, and as we all know those fiends will not go down without a fight. It's sort of like an actual rejoining, but not completely. The end result is that the souls of the fiends will rejoin the Great Flow or the Aetherial Sea of the Source.
I just had a thought… what if Golbez is a shard of Zodiark? The Zodiark we fought was incomplete, so in theory the other shards of Zodiark still exists.
