  1. I tried FFXII on PS2 and then Tried FFX/X-2 on PS Vita and didn't like the single-player turn-based gameplay. Didn't think I would like FFXIV due to it being an "Eastern-style" MMO and I had quit BDO and Tera early on because it didn't have "real-life" references like WoW's obvert ones (an example being Booty Bay modeled after Rio de Janeiro). Now having 10days in-game played and in patch 4.2 story I quit my WoW sub and swapped fully to FFXIV, and love the subtle "real-life" references over WoW's obvert ones (an example being "coer" meaning "heart" in French and Elezen are French-based race). I love watching all the streamers try out FFXIV but "there's more game after lvl 50 endgame guys"

  2. My viewership on twitch has been a bit weird. BUT I will never stop streaming FFXIV. It's my go-to game.. and my go-to stream game, and always will be (unless they ruin the game somehow… but I don't see that as likely.)

  3. Honestly, part of what makes me like the dev team so much is the dedication to not crunching. Yoshi P has talked a few times about requiring breaks and refusing to let his employees crunch for the sake of their health and motivation even when some of the devs asked for permission to crunch themselves to get something done on time. And while I am well aware of how ARR was built through crunch, YoshiP talked about how unsustainable that was for the devs and changed how things were done, so I earnestly believe that he cares about the long term health of the game.

There are so many games that I have played, and even games that I've loved, where in the back of my mind I am aware that it was probably built through crunch, especially for japanese games. And in today's world it's not uncommon to learn that someone you looked up to behaves in a horrible way. So, knowing that something isn't made through crunch is a weight off my mind and only improves the experience.

And if it was the case that the FFXIV devs were under a lot of crunch without anything being done about it I think that a lot of the fan-dev communication with fanfest, etc. would ring hollow for me. Because if the people in charge of the game can't care for the wellbeing of people around them making the game beyond their pure ability to produce content quickly why would I believe that they care for the people thousands of miles away playing the game as anything other than a source of money.

  4. I think their streamer experience in ff14 is due to the relaxed nature of the game. People are not rushing to max out. The players use that free time to have fun with the streamers.

  5. There's plenty of streamers when patches drop, but this is the first time I've ever heard of annie fuchisia. I think new streamers though get high attention because everyone loves to see a persons first time reactions. Raiding takes over every so often when new stuff drops but then it peters out.
