  1. Could be super fun, And it being super fast will make it a bearable, as long it feels nice playing whatever job(s) in the matches it'll hopefully be exciting. And will be another avenue for having weird and hilarious glamours around too, Frog Team vs Elephant Team vs Namazu Team vs Piglet Team vs Kweh Team etc.

  2. I think it has a lot of promise from what little I've seen.

Feast always felt like a win-trading mess at best and opening myself to death threats and harassment at worst. (Yes, I have gotten death threats from Feast in FFXIV. Just for queueing as the wrong role by accident.), and I think a lot of that is due to Auto-Chat instead of regular chat. Like… I entirely understand wanting to cull toxic dialogue, but if players really want to harass, they can just find you and send you a tell saying all the awful things after a match. And I feel like pre-game planning in party chat is way more of a boon than not.

From a gameplay perspective, Feast can be a bit too long and it can feel lopsided when even a single person decides to give up and just sit at base, especially if they're a healer or a DPS. So I think eliminating role reliance in Crystalline Conflict will be way way better for the health of PVP. Also ensuring the matches cap at 5 minutes each is important so you're not stuck in a prolonged match. That's great! I like that a lot!

Also, the rewards structure has always felt rough for me. Wolf Collars specifically. Like… you can only earn Wolf Collars from tier promotions as well as for being in the Top 100 at the end of a season, but you see no Wolf Collars at all until the season is over. Then you see 1x Wolf Collar per Tier you climbed that season, so if you are only able to stomach Feast enough to get to Bronze or Silver, you'd get 2 Wolf Collars, when a single one of the Wolf Collar weapons cost 10.

As someone who is not into PVP and feels like it has had an EXTREMELY shaky and, frankly, terrible presence in FFXIV since its inception, all of these changes give me hope for the future of PVP in FFXIV. The reduced reliance on specific roles, the shorter match times, the improved rewards system and a battle pass that encourages play even if you don't win? Very big changes that make me VERY interested!

The only thing I would add–if it's not being added already–is a Practice Mode with NPC Party Members and Opponents. Rewarding absolutely nothing on completion, lets you quit at any time without penalty, but allows you to get a feel for the game mode and your PVP abilities with as little stress as possible, so you can go into a proper match having a general idea of what you're doing.

  3. As someone who enjoyed pvp and feast i am kinda interested in it and the "battlepass" makes me hope that pvp matches will be que able outside primetime. Still kinda sad feast gets axed ๐Ÿ™

  4. Whether or not it is successful, if the goal is to increase the player engagement with PvP, this is definitely a step in the right direction.

Hopefully the maps will be on full rotation, and not weekly.

  5. I am quite excited to check this out, would love to get into pvp in FFXIV. I do disagree about the rank gating though because it heavily nerfs the ability to win as a solo-queue. Players who should be playing with similar performers at a lower rank end up getting carried into higher brackets they can't leave, so as a solo-player you can never make it out of the "elo hell" at the lower ends of each rank. Ideally, ranking should be a completely sliding scale.

  6. i think people will play it for the rewards,
the thing which make ffxiv pvp not that great is because of the battle system which is hard to remove, unless they make something clever, like each class have 30 skills and u only use 10 skills, u will see a lot of diversity in builds and combo, even if someone playing the same class as you, u will have 2 completely different builds which cane make the battle more intense because u don't know what skill he might use, so you study them

  7. I enjoy Frontlines a lot, and Rival Wings when tomestone events come around (otherwise it almost never pops). I wanted to learn some Feast PVP but they said it was going away (but may come back). A quick smaller group sized PVP sounds really fun. Easy to pop in a few games on nights I don't have a lot of time to play games. I think it looks fun, and hope it takes off and gets more interest in PvP. I'm probably gonna try to get active in the PvP Revival community and hopefully find a night where I can get a static-like PVP team to grind out ranks. I do like how you can't go down in ranks, like you said you can get anxiety when you're close to demoting. I remember when I played Hearthstone a lot before they implemented their version (you lose ranks, but you get credit for the highest achieved rank), with a few days left in the month and 1 loss would drop me a rank, I just stopped playing ranked. I do wanna grind out and get to Crystal tier. Probably gonna take me a bit to get skilled enough for that.
