  1. I understand them not wanting/being able to go back and fix every single head gear. As far as viera, it still just makes no sense why they can just give everything ear holes/covers like the miqote have. And the fact they just keep making more and more artifact job armor and cash shop items that aren't compatible with viera/hroth is just criminal.

  2. I find it very concerning that that is what Yoshi-P and the other developers think about killing beloved characters.

Of course, you can't kill characters left and right willy-nilly but, shock value aside, nobody ever dying kills the stakes for me.

We always come out on top of the conflict of the expansion, the Scions always survive, etc..

I want to speak only for myself here because I don't want to assume what everyone else may think BUT I think that A LOT of players were ready to see some of the Scions die for good during Endwalker.
The trailer with the Scions at the end, each saying a sentence, felt like they were all at risk of death…yet, the game was "NOPE" and resurrected all of them from unexistence 20 mins later (with a really nice scene, btw, our group bidding farewell to the Ascians we met and came to care about).

It's not like that is bad but it's becoming more and more expected. To the point that unless we see someone get decapitated or shot in the head, we will always assume that they survive a fall, an explosion or if they're eyes are white after a slice, we will assume that they're just heavily wounded and that we will find them later on either healing or completely at full health.

I hope, going forward, that the devs understand that they don't have to cater to everyone and that it's fine to let some key characters go for good, either by having them die or having them simply retire (like, not only the Arenvald way, but also just getting married or exploring other ventures that take them far far away from us and our adventuring).

  3. Im surprised that nobody is talking about the possibility of dlusing the artifact to make what happened in Yasulani/Heritage Found happen between the First and Thirteenth to balance out Light and Dark between them.

  4. All the vanilla and au ra faces are pretty similar, with au ra horns just clipping through all the helmets and headgear. Viera and hrothgar heads are different, with viera ears and hrothgar overall heads being much different than any of the other races. To fit all the gear they essentially need to make a while new piece for hrothgar, and viera they should basically do au ra and just clip the ears through. I doubt they would do what they did with drg with the custom ear armor. Pc players just mod it but console is stuck. I hope it's fixed but the last report showed these two races as an extremely small portion of the playerbase, so it might not be a priority.

  5. Ok, but as a Hrothgar player, I would like to highlight a very particular case in the current expansion. The light-heavyweight and Dark Horse Champion Fending/Maiming head gear looks goofy IMO, but on Hrothgar (and I assume by extension Viera) you don’t get the hat, but you keep the shades and that looks swag af! I’m glad it’s actually BiS so I can keep my sick shades on all my GNB glams.

  6. Would it be so Umbral Calamitous if someone just upfront told Yoshi-P that modders have been able to give Vieras and Hroths hairstyles and headgear and how their multi-million dollar dev team still can't do ot over 5 years later?

  7. I can understand about the glamour plates. Dawntrail day 1, my glamour plate glitched out and only half of it loaded up. It was easy to reapply it but i imagine that’s what they were trying to avoid.

  9. Glamour plates will apply anywhere inside a sanctuary – which includes villages and such in the open zones (i.e. Aleport, Forgotten Springs, Mor Dhona) – anywhere with a (working) Aetheryte.

I'm not a programmer, so I do acknowledge that these things are easier said than done. – But what if rather than having the glam-plates stored in the dresser – each gearset had its own built-in glam-plate. This way – rather than the system having to search for and apply the gear glam codes – the gearsets have a built in / preset glam code. The glamdresser would then be the interface to allow us to change/update our glam-plate.

  10. Mostly all the scions (besides Alphinaud, I think?) had at least two "fake deaths" in the series (and Y'shtola having about three no?). It'd be repetitive anyway if they killed one off, which was helping me cope with DT's story for the longest because that was the one thing giving me anxiety before the game's release…

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, they're not killing the scions. If anything, they'll kill the WoL off before they kill them.

  11. The interviewer was asking the real questions. I'm hopeful for another monster hunter crossover.

I seriously hope they think about adding more aetherytes that can server hop. I like having ishgard as my main homepoint so that'd be great.

  12. I have NEVER understood the big deal around Haurchefaunt – he was a questgiver who I never felt like I got to know well. He was nice enough, for a mere acquaintance….but why am I supposed to be so moved by his death, as opposed to anyone else who has died in these wars? I was more sad about Zenos' death! I had more of a rapport with HIM than the quest-giver from late ARR, early HW.

The entire glamour system needs to be torn out at the roots, and re-made. I can transmog anywhere I want, in WoW. It is also instant. All I need is the right NPC to allow me to do so! If WoW can update their 20 year old game to handle this…why can't FFXIV? It's barely half as old as WoW! And WoW devs have gutted old systems! They tore out old character creation, and put a whole new version in, so now eye colors aren't tied to the face you pick anymore ( like Au Ra horns with faces STILL are). They've added new hair, new eye colors, new tattoos…why can't XIV?? At ten years old, half of WoW's age! They still make excuses saying the system is old, it can't do that – when other MMOs have proven that that is untrue. You CAN take old systems out, and add NEW systems in their place. It's time to do away with a set number of glamour plates and a glamour dresses and only changing glamour in rest areas. Their team may be smaller than WoW's, and maybe they have a hard time getting funding for the most requested feature ever…but I doubt it. If they dedicated a group of people to studying other games like WoW and GW2 and how they do their transmog/glamour systems? They could learn, and iterate, and put in a whole new system that isn't 10 years out of date. GW2 is about the same age as XIV, and has updated more than they have, and have had a better glamour system since the beginning – and their dye system is a thousand times better!

  13. A new comment to say: the difficulty level did NOT drop. The dungeons are rough, and push healers to pay attention and stop DPSing and actually heal. The raids are unique and fresh and exciting! As a healer, I rather enjoyed them. They're not the hardest thing in the world, but they're also not the easiest. (And the first raid of any new xpac in any MMO is usually easier, since balance is still being ironed out.)

  14. No main characters or scions will ever be killed and I realized why. They have tied all of these characters to optional content and storylines. Class quests (dragoon) has Ein. And all of the Scions are connected to Raid storylines. The devs have put themselves in an odd place. If you do older content after a chatacter dies would break immersion.

  15. I don't know if i could go on if Alphinauld died T-T he's just the sweetest and there's no way i can go to RP cafes and hang out with a smile on my face in a universe where Alphi's gone. I'll quit the game if Alisae dies.

  16. My biggest problem with the dawntrail story isn't that no characteers died, its that they didn't give us a chance to have a new cast take center stage. Like 2/3 of our 'team' at the end if not more were characters we brought with us. I was really hoping we'd get some time AWAY from the scions, as much as I like a lot of them, and build some new characters… and it just felt like more of the same. Bring one or two or three new characters to our new adventure, but keep the rest back for an expansion or two… give them time to grow off-screen. Notably I would've loved to have the twins stay in Garlemald.

As a healer main and a mentor who queues as a healer… the monster hunter collab is miserable for me. I get matched into that in mentor roulette as a healer… and its the worst experience. Definitely my least favourite thing to get in mentor…

  17. Woah woah woah. Depends on the kind of story it is. It would be weird if all stories killed off characters that were no longer needed. (Romance stories with love triangles would definitely be different if this was a thing). They could just not write about them until they are >actually< needed or have us be in an area that is unavailable to be reached (ex. shard or past or really anything). Let's not jump to deaths.

Also why bring up anime? This is something specific to mostly shonen/shoujo stories which are aimed at >kids to teens.< Not all anime are death free, just like not all stories have characters dying. It's not specific to anime so let's not go there.
