Let's Play Final Fantasy XIV (Part 29) [Final Fantathon]

The most anticipated and requested game of Final Fantathon, Final Fantasy XIV has finally arrived. Beloved by so many, FFXIV has become a world wide phenomenon and has transcended its own namesake in many ways. Final Fantasy XI was a well made MMO, but it didn’t capture the hearts of so many fans in the same way, so I hope to gather through my playthrough what makes this game so special in the hearts of its dedicated fans.

  1. Materia is a far easier system to work with when you can do it yourself on the fly, and you've gathered a nice pile of it. Early game, with a single class played, you're probably going to be waiting a while til you collect a bunch unless you buy it off the market board. When you have 30 various pieces and can meld them yourself, it's pretty noteworthy what a jump it is to add them in. Materia is to be treated more like a gem system like in other MMOs or maybe Diablo, an enhancement rather than a primary feature. Something you'll appreciate more once you get into crafting/gathering I'm sure.
