Excellent video. Makes me feel like I can actually learn to tank lol.
Nice Guide! You break things down so well. Thank you
What an amazing video! I have watched a lot of FFXIV begginer tutorials on youtube, but this is the first that I've actually manage to understand the basic + rotations of GNB since your way of explaining is so easy to follow. And for that you just got another subscriber! Please, keep it up my dude!
Best Gunbreaker guide out there mate great job. I will recommend this to all that wish to learn. 🙂
Very clear. I think skipping over the stuff about 'this is the rotation you need to be nailing every time in this exact order' type stuff was a good decision.
When you're just starting out you don't need to be stressed out about not optimising your rotation, you just need to be getting used to the common combos and understanding when to use the more situational abilities. Optimisation and finesse can come later once you have the basics under your hands. Heck, even the DoTs and mitigation stuff is stuff that needs some time to bed in when you're starting out. In basic content, having your stance on, doing the combos and occasionally popping mitigation stuff is enough, almost all the time. Once you're used to that it's much easier to start getting fancier.
I'm leveling GNB and what I'm finding is that the more comfortable I am with the basic combos, the more room I have to start thinking about weaving in the other abilities, and remembering to fire off abilities that are on a longer cooldown. A lot of guides try to teach you to run before you can walk. So what I'm trying to say in a lot of words is: thanks for doing a guide that focuses on the basics, explains how things work in a general way, without getting too proscriptive about exactly what I need to do to be optimal.
Nice Guide. Was a bit overwhelmed with the fact the GB starts with so much skills. Now i got a beter understanding of the class and looking forward to play it. Thank your very much. Keep it up 🙂
Wowza! it's crazy how much of a difference a few months can make! Was re-watching this as I was adding in the chapters and realized just how many little editing errors i've made in this video haha! Thank you all so much for your support on this one! Despite some of the novice errors I made I am so thrilled to know this video has been able to help you all on your Gunbreaker journeys! This channel would not be here were it not for all of you!
Update 8/8/21 I was able to edit out some of the bad cuts so those should no longer be present! ^_^
You should do more of these guides. The way you explain and show how to do rotation makes it easy to understand.
im confused at 3:01 you tried to show us an ability and it never popped up :S not looking good for the thumbs up :S
now when you say start of your combo…. here is the issue i find with your explanation already… its not really the start of your combo if you are ment to do Rough divide and then lightning shot first…, i'm guessing the actual start of the combo is RD, LS then keen edge right? please clear this up for me
i got a gunbreaker instantly to level 60 so i have both burst strike and gnashing fang… im guessing gnashing fang is more important coz of the combo right?
2:29 you shouldn’t pull bosses with gap closers. Probably an honest mistake there.
Thanks for the awesome guide, really appreciated the clear and concise explanation! Subbed!
thank you! helped a ton 🙂
Oh LAWD, this was good to come back to after a multi-month hiatus. The first three tutorials I tried seemed hell-bent on impressing me with how quickly they could rattle off the combos, but you take the right amount of time – slow and steady wins the race (and lets me take notes effectively ^_^ ). A pleasure to listen to – thank you for making this!
A lot of finger pointing in this one, good video tho
THANK U I JUS UNLOCKED THIS JOB AND THE HOTBAR IS SCARY
Hey man I’m a new player and I purchased the complete edition with endwalker. I’m a lvl 50 paladin at the moment and want to swap to gunbreaker. How do I do that and when can I swap?
My only complaint is that I really expected some segment like showing "imaginary" scenarios on the dummy and you doing what a Gunbraker should/would do.
Thanks for the guide, it clarify many things that are not explained the best way ingame. Just stoped being a free trial yesterday and as the stereotype "FFVIII is my favourite FF and my childhood" i'ts basicly me, so I HAD to go Gunbreaker, and holy crap it is overwhelming once you get the job.
Anyway, thanks for all. IMO that segment of "real action" y expected was the only thing I missed in the video.
PD: Fuck Seifer, he cheated using pyro in a training duel, the magic equivalent of throwing sand at the rivals eyes. #Neverforget.
Thank you for your videos, I've watched a few today. At 7:30 why do you rough divide first? From my understanding, this should be reserved for weaving into your no fury buff unless you require it for movement which would otherwise result in missing a GCD hit. Genuine question, and just looking to be the best I can be, so really trying to understand all there is about this job.
Thank you so much this is exactly what I needed a step by step break down of job rotations. Every other YT just talks as if people already know what they are talking about
wtf i wish more people did slow paced things like this, a lot of people just go "ok press this this this this and then you're gonna press this but if this press this then this.." and i'm like "mhm mhm go on" lmao this def helped a crap ton since i just started playing and this class seemed pretty cool
Really simple and easy to get into the class. This helped a lot thanks
This is an awesome guide. Thank you , kind sir!!! I just unlocked GB and will be learning from your guide. vs just going straight into a dungeon looking like an idiot who obviously knows nothing about the class and wiping the party as a result- because, you know, I've never done that. I mean, really WHO does that?!?!?!!
Really great video and I love how you didn't bombard with in-game terms and assume we know what they all mean. I do have a question about the Brutal Shell that you mentioned we should try to keep up as much as possible. Does this include when dealing with mobs? For example applying Nebula, brutal shell combo, and then into AoE, until brutal shell is no longer active? Or is it strictly for single targets?
This is so helpful! I've never tanked before but I really believe I can do it now — and with GB too! Really appreciate you putting this out here. I watched other videos and they flew right over my head. You are a natural at teaching! Very gifted with that, and the other comments seem to prove it as well. Thanks again!
Trying out gunbreaker now! Thanks for the awesome guide. 🙂
For sure the best guide out there. Thanks a lot!, really.
Thnaks for the video. I started to play FFXIV because of this job. I'm a playstation player and its kind hard to figure out how those amount of skills will be placed on the controller specially whilye doing low lv dungeons. Btw, about character ttributes, is there a guide of which Materia I should melt on which piece of armor? All thanks should focus on the same attirbutes ? I'm asking this because I'm intenting to mainly play thanks and I want to minimize, if thats possible, the amount of armor sets that I'll carry. tyvm 🙂
OwO)/ my Healer buddy is often get Heart attack when i use Superbolide
I really like your videos. You are slow paced “explaining each skill in detail” which is a good thing. Thank you! I just picked up GNB and i was lost. “Going from ranged dps to tank”.
Best ff14 video I've seen
I’m fairly new to the game and taking a liking to the tank role. I’m trying to learn the basics because the game’s too overwhelming in my opinion. Would you be planning to have a drk guide also? I like the way how you explain things and I appreciate it.
This is awesome. I watch a lot of guides but this type fo walkthrough is exactly what I needed. Thank you.
This was super helpful, thank you!
