I will never forgive Yoshi-P for taking my Confiteor DoT. It's what seperated PLD from other thanks aside from being a rotating Magic/Phys user.
I think the Materia system being reworked would help in expression too as it mainly comes to Direct Hit/Crit at the end of the day. I hardly see any Piety and… Tenacity being used which is a shame since those are specific to the roles of Healers and Tanks. Granted I haven't done High-End duty with healers, It seems everyone will meld the reds only and let the other Materia fall into obscurity like the elemental/attribute Materias.
I think Piety would be great to make heal checks easier by increasing the healing done though not required as well as Tenacity giving buff to defense mitigation. Though I can see those builds being only good for Prog and will be replaced by the standard for clear parties.

I just hope Healers get more stuff to deal dmg with, dots or not, since our oGCD Heals or Healkits in general seem pretty well lined up by now
BLU being the cursed child it is got DoTs instead of being taken away.
I think shb summoner had a good example of interesting but simple enough dot interaction with trying to optimize your dot uptime without having to use the gcds to refresh them, and gaining dmg for fester if you used it with both dots active. If scholar could get something like this at the very minimum, it'd be a lot more fun that what we currently have
applying dots with a 2.5 GCD feels so bad in ff14 compared to other games

Honestly the idea of going back to a "complex kit, slightly less demanding fight" is actually an interesting one. While I know that's not what this video argues for, there is something to be said about mechanical overload that to some extent almost necessitates dumbed down job design. Personally I'm more of a fan of the Stormblood design, where mechanical execution was forgiving and slow paced enough to allow for the weirder windows, synergies and abilities.
healers are the ones suffering the most tbh. having more dots management and having glare/broil/dosis/malefic 2.5 cast time would be great solution for making them more interesting.
not a single fuck given for the cross class stuff. Glad its gone. Ive always been an advocate for the Healer jobs to get more DPS buttons, not so much DOTS for actual DPS class. Sustaining your buff through combos is more fun for me. I dont want DOTS to go away or anything, but when you showed 6 DPS dot potential thats nutty. maybe just 3 is good? weak = instant cast, STRONG =cast and AoE version = weak, instant + last longer. But ultimate look, the game is changing over the years and thats okay. I hope it keeps doing stuff like this to pique others interests.
