It still tickels my pickel when I top the charts as a RDM or MCH in roulettes
Xenos spends the entire EW raid tier crying about double down and how they should change it to one cartridge cost and change the name. Now its a "niche group of players that barely exist and how could Square make such a dumb change!". Its so weird as a normal person looking in to these debates.
The game's industry makes games for darksydephil now. So blame him.
No. Machinist didn't get anything decent… AGAIN. The minuscule buff to some abilities and for some reason (FLAMETHROWER?! WHY?! JUST REWORK IT DAMNIT, SAME WITH BIOBLASTER) really does nothing to the class. Machinist continues to be the forgotten class that gets breadcrumbs while being completely behind.
The issues are the players. If a job is simple more players will play the job, if that job has good dmg then thats even better. Jobs that are to complex will get booted out for the similar and simple job. This has happen many times. Heck many BLM players moves over to PCT for that reason as its just better BLM. Complex only works if the payout is worth it. But if its too much the these jobs become mandatory. Having a job be hard to play is not always a god thing and often leads to the job being alienation. An if a job is played by like 6% of the player base then its going to get rework. Few players played old Smn and Mnk. I was a old SMN main amd even I know that job had really high bpm. New SMN may be more streamline but it has many more players. Mnk wasn't worth to play as your rotation demanded perfect play, many buff management, and slowed down during down time. Every melee could do what mnk did with less effort. People think having complex jobs will be better both with my time playing this from the start it has never played out that way. These jobs will simply get marked as players to not play with in ex and above content.
I like the change to esuna, not only related to Alexander where you have enough time to esuna everyone, but mainly for cleanses like in p12s where you needed to time your esuna pretty well as the tanks kept getting stacks and i wanted it to apply at a certain moment (just when the stacks capped out)
Good
In also saying about a reworked flamethrower, I was talking with a friend and they mentioned, which I agree they should work flamethrower into the blazing shot combo as a finisher removing the channel or even bioblaster or both while increasing the potency on both (still keeping the aoe aspect, but having the first target take maybe 60-70% of the damage). Besides this, obviously need something more than being the bad apple of the dps… something that will make a dramatic change in range's usefulness, because realistically we need something
8.0 is doomed imo. They'll lean more and more into the simplification of jobs. Can't have friction. Yoship can spit whatever PR he wants at comventions, the patches speak louder and right now every job autoplays itself on cooldown.
Hopefully FRU is amazing.
Another huge step towards making every single class of a role completely identical.
As a dragoon main, this patch honestly really killed a lot of the enjoyment for me.
The busy 2 minute burst was a huge part of what made the class fun, so removing the busyness really makes it a lot more bland. On top of that, the 1 minute burst also suffers a lot from this change.
Really feels like we got the Dark Knight treatment of just dumbing things down just to appeal to people who barely even play the game. It's honestly infuriating.
I likely will be putting down the spear and picking up Monk instead. While it lost a lot of its complexity, at least I don't feel the void that I feel when I play Dragoon when I play it. So dull…
I’m actually a fan of simpler job design as long as the difficulty is shifted to encounter design, and as long as the job is well designed. WAR is my normal example of this.
Maybe there is no hope for a decent job desgin then. I see this game is going no where with job desgin they just keep making things simpler and simpler, its like the only thing they do. Its actually very boring atm to play any job, they all feel like a reskin of the other.
I wanna say oh 8.0 will surely bring the change we need but i somehow doubt it bc its ffxiv and you should expect nothing untill u see it with your own eyes.
That being said my last piece of hope is just hanging on 8.0. I dont even care if its complex job desgin i just want a fun job desgin and what we have rn is no where near fun its very boring and dry and way too safe when it comes to changes made on jobs for an entire expansion like dude most jobs got 1 new button(u press once every 2 min) and a reskins of old abilities(that u press once every 60secs) as an expansion change that should be illegal.
It would be interesting if we had a discussion video taking a whole range of views on board. I always see discussions from the perspective of Ultimate Raiders, the top percentile, when they make up a tiny portion of the userbase, and their opinion is very important, but I feel it isn't the whole story.
I have physical disabilities and I think they should have a couple jobs that are easier then all the other jobs at different levels of difficulty so people can work on them and try to master them. Right now in the game I am limited to what I can play but it is fine with me. I do not need to play every class. This means I am a healer with 13 years in WOW as healer and 5 here in FF14. Healer jobs are always boring and that will never change. If people stop playing healing then maybe Square will give every job their own heals that would open it up for other jobs for dps which most of the player base enjoys to play.
As a one trick ninja, will my average damage go up from having free access to TCJ? Yes. Am I happy? No, because finding the spot in the fight where I can afford to stand still for a few seconds, and getting it in my burst window was a fun little challenge every new fight brought.
I can't get over the fact that Yoshi-P is quoted saying he wants to bring some more stress to the game, make the jobs more unique and overall make it so they are not afraid of failure on the player's side… yet everything keeps getting easier.
I don't play much jobs but I do play all tank roles. They are way too similar.
Gunbreaker's double down changing to 1 cart feels really bad. The suggestion of having dedicated phys vs magic mits for different jobs is a really nice idea that give each tank job a more distinct advantage in different scenario.
I am honestly getting tired of so many things becoming instant casts.
Esuna, SMN fully, PCT for a large part and even BLM.
Personally for me it takes the "caster" out of the jobs and makes them glorified ranged (and even those are so frontloaded with effects they are at times even more flashy).
Yes it makes thing more easy but as an old BLM player since HW whzo always prefered slower cast speed to use that time to look at my surroundings it honestly feels bad.
More speed, more hectic but less and less class fantasy.
Edit:
Unpopular opinion but I really think they overdo it with the ease of access in job design (like you said in the video).
It's fine for an MMO to be clunky in some aspects and for me what made the charm of HW and Stb times in part.
A DRG should be allowed to be busy at times, a BLM should be the job where you have to think were to stand and a Tank should be allowed to think what mitigation they use instead of just rotating them.
The jobs have become so extremely edgeless that the only fun is the battle mechanics themself and 1: you learn them anyway and 2: old content is now completely stale and boring.
As a Dragoon main, I hate the removal of the Nastronds. It's just more of the devs gutting a job that has been stagnating since Stormblood.
I am convinced that the PvE & PvP design teams are not allowed contact with each other lol
The sheer amount of long requested improvements DRK got is insane. I was fully convinced we would have to wait till 7.3 at the earliest for anything CLOSE to this caliber.
Now, with that being said, I'm greedy so I'm hoping for a second/OGCD combo or smth to make DRK a bit less stale and which also gives us a bit of our MP back
Jobs feel robotic to play, there's no element you can muck up anymore. The one single error a NIN-player was able to make was tcj, and now even that is foolproof. Same inputs in every pull for ten minutes on end, no thinking required.
I actually don't like the superbolide change. I was doing a dungeon last night as scholar, and prior to the patch, if I saw the gunbreaker go down to 1 hp, I KNOW they used super. Now, unless I can see the superbolide icon on their buff bar, I will think you're just taking a truck load of damage and over compensate.
if jobs keep getting simpler you could try playing with your group in the previous video as those guys made FFXIV even harder
What's the point of having 21 different jobs when you're streamlining them to be roles more than classes.
Every expansion makes low level gameplay even worse, why would anyone want to pick up the game if it's boring to play and the story they're supposed to be invested in turn to shit at the end?
a lot of people are hoping for the "8.0 job reworks" that will fix what people are upset about, but i believe with the even more pruning jobs have gotten then that shows how 8.0 will go, i dont think theyre going to suddenly revert everything to something similar to the HW/SB era. I am cautiously excited, but still cautious.
After their announcement of a mobile version of the game even though it’s separate from PC simplified job making sounds like the general direction they would want to go in
So is no one gonna mention that ease of access allows for a smaller entry level for super casual gamers? Like my wife couldn’t handle summoner rotation, she’s bad at games. How would Square Enix get her $$ if she can’t handle the game? There’s tons of “gamers” that suck but they have money that could go into SE’s pocket. It’s a trend in lots of games that the skill floor is lowered immensely to appeal to a broader audience.
No, Rinon: black mage – a dps with no buffs/utility – should never become interchangeable with a support dps (pictomancer). It should have been leaps ahead in damage output since 7.0. The only reason PCT was overturned was to sell the expansion, and this is becoming increasingly obvious with the lack of content, bad scheduling of releases, the worst most undertuned tier we've had since Alexander part 3, and a story for kids.
I hope AStrodyne comes back.
how is changing ten-chi-jin "pruning" it? its the only 2 min skill in the game that you can completely lose if your finger touches the wrong button accidentally. It was designed poorly, they fixed it.
The fact people are require to use a spreadsheet of rotations and video studies of encounters just to “qualify” to do savages and ultimates will always do more harm to the game than good.
About a 2% damage buff for MCH is what I've been wanting… buuuuuut, lawd, I'm still waiting with fingers crossed for there to be a PRanged rework in 8.0 if they follow the pattern and introduce a new job for the role.
I know my opinions are not commonly held or supported, but I genuinely had a lot of fun with the second iteration of the Ast cards. I never got to play Noct ast but the concept was so interesting i was actually really frustrated i never got the chance to play it. It felt like Cleric stance in a way, but done well.
I literally swapped from maining SCH to play AST because of the complexity. I genuinely hate the new cards. I decided to instead play SGE and SCH again instead this expansion. I've never hated AST more than I do now, and this is already after my main class (SCH) losing it's identity completely.
Maybe i should just not heal at this point :/
My job got good changes. Now I just need summoner to also get the same change so I don't forget to summon carbuncle after every uwu wipe.
Na, I disagree about what you said about TCJ, people have been complaining for years about it being stationary. While it doesn’t bother me, I do get why it annoyed a lot of NIN players.
I feel like some people would actually take use of not seeing their starry muse. I've at least heard one person complain strongly whenever I used my burst during ion cannons in m4s. So since it's so big there might be at least one person who goes "fuck it we ball" to see the floor pattern.
