  1. If you wanted to trigger us then congratulations!

If they are going to drop the ps4 then playing the game at all in any kind of capacity at this point is a complete waste of time, We need assurances that this won't happen abd if it does Genshin Impact will turn into my main game and we all know how dry content in that game is right now… It would be a very scummy move on their part drop the ps4. Not all of us have the money for a ps5 or a high end pc good enough to run it… and i'm willing to bet a lot of the player base is on ps4 #ConsolePeasant4Life

  2. Lets be real pc really is what holds back… Yes some ppl hsve strong pcs but most people have meha/decent pcs.. So really maybe only 30% of ppl on pc have a pc better than ps4 lol

  3. Going to watch later, but the answer is: not really. Lower end PCs are holding back XIV just as much as old consoles do. Unlike consoles, it is hard for developers to know how good their user base's computers are. So they need to keep the game on current standard for both PS4 players, and for people who own an old computer.

  4. CONSOLES. Are holding literally ALL of gaming back. It's not hard to figure out…..kill the consoles you get better looking better playing faster games that dont need held back by the absolute barest of minimum hardware these consoles have and have always had

  5. The way I see it, they won't drop support for it until at least the next expansion, assuming there is one. That's at least another two years away. The other timeline will probably be late 2023. Why that date? That's the 10 year mark for the release of the PS4 and when many of their licenses expire. It's the same reason why they're dropping the Vita this year. They just don't want to renew the many 10 yr licenses that they have.

There's always a way around the hardware limitations. The issue is whether or not they're willing to put in the work. Since the rise of digital downloads, there has been just a lot of games that flat out ignore things like optimization, which is why a lot of games end up being bloated or performing so poorly. They expect the player side hardware to make up the difference when most can't.

  6. Well i just recently bought a gaming pc, I personally don’t think the ps4 is holding ffxiv back. The engine is holding ffxiv back and until the day comes they decide to do a massive overhaul that will continue. Now it could be that ps4 is preventing them from that massive engine overhaul, but until they indicate they actually wanna do one the point is still relevant. Also if you look at steams hardware statistics page you quickly realize not many people quickly adopt new hardware. The gtx 1060( an older, but fantastic card for its time) is still king.Rtx cards barely make a scratch (i realize part of that is low availability)

  7. ps4 is not a limitation on the game itself, its the game engine itself thats holding us back from getting a better game overall they just want you to believe and think its hardware/software thats keeping them behind which is not the case whatsoever some of the single player games on ps4 work and play a thousand times better than ffxiv and on max settings lol

and also something you guys didn't mention or factor in is that most japanese players do not own or play thru PC the majority of their videogame culture is either on mobile devices/portable or consoles at home so games like these are purposely designed and purposed to be played on console or handhelds/mobile.

  8. PS4 will only be dropped when the userbase drops to a level isn't work supporting like 32bit support now, it still may work but not a concern as most don't use it. They primarily only want to support 2 versions of the game. Nothing technical.

  9. the answer is no, it isn't. it's lower end pc's as it can be run on a potato.
if you look at any steam hardware survey roughly 10% of all steam users still use a gtx 1060
now obviously that doesn't include people who use the 14 client
but if ya want to talk about things that are holding back 14, it's low end pc's and the decade old engine.

  10. Unless they want to do stuff that is beyond PS4 specs, there is no reason to abandon it. The PS3 only had FFXIV for the last few years of its console lifespan, while PS4 had it since almost the beginning. The entire game is made on PS4 spec, even lower as mentioned in the video since PC players can go lower than even PS4 level of quality. They might raise PC spec without giving up PS4 spec. Even if they start doing stuff that can only work on PS5 spec, I don't see why they can't just lock those particular areas out of PS4 and still allow the PS4 players to access the servers just to idle in Limsa and houses and what have you.

  11. Even the sequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn coming out in 2022 or whenever is gonna be on PS4… PS4 will have a longer period of relevancy than even the PS3 had because of the short supply situation. Remember, there was a good while where all games coming out on PS4 were also coming out on PS3. Hell, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, one of the best looking and feeling games ever, released on Xbox 360 just fine in 2015!

  12. Ps5 is the future, ps4 will be dead soon anyways. There will be slightly more support for ps4 comparing to old gens bcs of pandemic issues with stocks. I hope I will own a ps5 when that time comes, but the truth is tech doesn't wait anyone.

  13. The problem with the PS4 going a few years into the future is the Jaguar CPU. It’s a very CPU limited even compared to mid tier PC CPUs from 2013. I could see it being dropped for the next expansion after Endwalker.
