  1. I'm pleasantly surprised that 7.05 didn't nerf Honey B. or the clown dungeon despite those topics. (Which also exist on JP.) It makes me look forward to the alliance raid if they're comfortable with those.

  2. I’m a new player (started post-EW) and I don’t have a group I play with to learn content comfortably. I have not found DT to be at all harder than anything that came before. This discussion has perplexed me since it started lol. I swear I’m not being like “oh I’m so much better than these people” – I don’t raid or anything. I’m not great at the game. I just haven’t noticed any spike in difficulty anywhere?

  3. If we didn't have duty support for both duties and trials, I probably would have quit the game due to the difficulty. But because we do, I was able to work my way through the duties. I managed to clear two of them with less than 15 minutes left on the timer, while the level 100 duty took 2 1/2 hours to clear. The trials, amazingly enough, were easy to go through with the NPCs.

Now I just need to clear the final trial. I took a look at a walkthrough and I'm going to have difficulty making it through. I figure I need to make the new 700 level gear, practice running the level 100 duty until I can clear it smoothly, and watch a walkthrough repeatedly. Hopefully I'll be ready in a couple of weeks.

  4. Casuals =! bad. I am confident that this kind of player, is only 1% of the casual population, maybe even less. It shouldn't be even considered as opinion of a sizable group of player.

  5. I am a very casual player.
I found the Raids harder than those in Endwalker, but it's not not something that makes me throw the keyboard out the window or smthg.
PS. I find the Honey Bee fight slightly obnoxious because you effectively get stunned if you get 3 hearts, and the server delay makes it difficult to predict where your character should move to avoid the floating hearts because the floating hearts are just slightly in front of where you actually see them on your screen.

  6. You can't really compare regular content to savage content. You don't really even have to work as a team. You may have an lp stack where you need to coordinate, but aside from that, you can practically do your own thing and finish the content without working with anyone else.

  7. Doing these things with groups of people that are very familiar with the fights makes you feel really really bad. It does not encourage me to do them multiple times. With age comes comes a lower and lower reflex time; you can't help it, it just is. I'm not saying all things should be made easier for me at 70, just have a bit of understanding. Don't say ignorant things like "age is a state of mind." That's like saying "just think away that diabetes!"
I've done all the MSQ content and some of the extra ones starting at ARR and working all the way through w/out buying skips. I started playing when Stormblood had been out a while. And it's been a slog with having seemingly everyone else in the game be completely familiar with it all. There's not been many situations with everyone in the group is learning it except when you're among the first to attempt them because it's new content. So I jumped on Endwalker and Dawntrail, preordering and being among the first. But get discouraged because Im playing with those that have much quicker reflexes and catch on faster than I do. It's a bit discouraging but not as much as when it's content that has been out for years.
Unlike every other MMO, FF storytelling is excellent. I started gaming in the 90s. I've played all the popular MMOs. I still go back to old ones sometimes like SWTOR and Warhammer Online. Even Dark Age of Camelot. But most no longer are as enjoyable because the devs in all of them have changed, the games are changed, and people's attitudes have too. "Classic" WoW is a train wreck masquerading as the original.

  8. I've played this game for years, I know how to play, but I had a stroke a few years ago and now I can't process things very well. Prior to this expansion I got through things. I tend to do dungeons with duty support because I don't want to slow people down, but I absolutely can't get through content that way in this expansion. I just want to play the story. I don't raid, I'm not doing upper level content, I just want to play the story. I haven't logged in in a couple of weeks because I can't get past this dungeon and I feel horrible going into groups and just having to be picked up off the floor constantly. Just leave me down there. It's extremely frustrating.

  9. more ping based stuff on a game with notoriously bad netcode. so many times i think i made it through a upcoming random thing to just have it snapshot hit me. They should test this stuff with mediocre pings.

  10. The person who wrote this post probably chooses easy mode in games. If you die 9 times in the Bee fight there is something seriously physically wrong with you I would assume. Like at one point stop your gcds to actually think, It's normal mode there is no point in rushing it. Maybe consider not using any skills for 5s when you get raised not to be instantly killed by raid wides. Idk. It's not really that hard.

  11. Yesterday I did a dungeon (level 97) as a gnb, had a whm as a healer and they only used Cure (Cure 1), didn't use a single attack during pulls and never used an ogcd skill/mana regen ability, maybe they have the same opinion about the game being too dificult because they don't even read their abilities to know how to use them

  12. I think it's unreasonable to ask that anything that isn't Extreme or higher content, which is a small percentage of the overall game, have to be so easy that it's impossible to die the very first time that you do it; making the game boring for a lot of people because you want a super easy victory without much effort most of the time isn't fair.

  13. I'm just happy that the DEV team is ignoring this feedback. They do not want to go back they want us to get better so they can keep us engaged in harder mechanics. It's time to learn and evolve. Don't let this game get nerfed into oblivion until the damage is unrepairable.

  14. A couple of things. If people are saying that something is too hard for them and they're not enjoying that aspect of the game, don't bag on them. My god Zep, watching you try to contain your laughter whilst reading this post was painful to watch. You eventually agreed with some of their points, but for me, someone who had the same feelings, your reaction disappointed me. You seem to have missed the point of the game: it's designed to have something for everyone! It should be a place where someone who doesn't want a challenge can still have fun, and certainly the converse is true.

The MSQ has always been a point of frustration for me—the huge amount of time spent soloing, running all over to talk with someone, only to be instructed to run back to the person who sent you. It all feels like a monumental waste of time—a form of prolonging/gating the content. And then interspersed with a dungeon and possibly a trial with real people. I watch guides and sometimes I pick up on the mechanics, but nothing really prepares you for the real thing. Sometimes everyone is cool in the group, and sometimes you have people who are not very kind. After many wipes, a person familiar with the dungeon might put a symbol over their head and instruct everyone to follow them because the mechanics are different and complicated. You may not think they are, but to many of us they are. And even with all that, the healer might miss the mechanic and die, again, and you do it again, but on the 7th try you finally complete it. For some, they come away feeling like they really accomplished something. For others, they feel, “How many more dungeons am I going to have to struggle through to complete this godforsaken MSQ?” That was a miserable experience. I don't understand why you can't run this content with your trust group if that's how you want to experience the content.

And another point: you may have only meant it in reference to raid content, but resurrection is easy and unlimited—until your healer(s) die. In the dungeon I referred to earlier, the healer was having trouble dodging mechanics and keeping herself along with the party up. I know this is going to sound hyperbolic, but with all the wipes, it honestly felt like they introduced some Elden Ring into the game. I tried playing Elden Ring, it's a beautiful game, but I couldn't get past any bosses. I'm not the kind of person that enjoys getting killed that often. That game is not for me, but I know it was hugely popular and people love that style of game. FFXIV shouldn't be that type of game within the MSQ, extremes and savage is there if you want them.

To people with comments about casuals being lazy and just wanting to be read to—the game is first and foremost the story. You have to complete the story to unlock the rest of the game. Don't disparage people for wanting a stress-free experience, minimize how they feel, or insult them personally.

    BE NICE.

  15. Unsurprisingly the responses to your video are full of the usual “the players complaining are lazy”.
We just finished an expac where the story is all about talking to others and learning to understand them.
It’s not about being “pissed off because you had to spend all that time” learning. It’s far more complicated and nuanced.
I tried Ex late in EW. I tried with a positive and supportive group of people. It wasn’t fun. The moment of a clear is great, but it doesn’t undo all the other problems.
It gets worse if you cannot execute mechanics and that leads to wipes for the whole party.
Not everyone wants a challenge from the game, not everyone has the physical ability to manage fast executions, not everyone has the ability to endure through the learning process for difficult content (for a lot of valid reasons).
I’m glad that hard content exists for people that want it. But making all content harder as an onramp to harder content that most players will not experience isn’t an enjoyable experience for a lot of players. Rejecting that with the “they’re lazy” nonsense is elitist bs and not needed.

  16. I don't understand how anyone can call normal content hard. I literally tried to sabotage every trial just to have a little fun but I was not able to, because it's so damn easy. There's nothing fun in it, just monotonous button pressing, there was a time when I fell asleep during a dungeon boss. I died, but we still won. This is the definition of hard? I think that those people who call this "too hard" are the reason why this game can't evolve in it's gameplay. The constant lamenting about the non existent difficulty is the reason why it's normal content is laughable and you cannot feel the weight of the huge and brilliantly written boss fights. Because they die like a breeze.

  17. I am full okay with it. But its so weird cause in endwalker some people complained about that alliance raids and some normal raid bosses are ''too easy''. And now some people complain about that the normal raids are ''too hard'' ?? I mean sure for the first time it was ''hard'' to me too. But time to time i getting better and understand more and more all 4 bosses. And i think Honey B is the easyer and Black Cat. Only ''Akuma at home'' and Wicked Thunder are who are harder but obviously not like savage hard or something. (Yoshi-P pls do NOT nerf the raid bosses.)

  18. One interesting thing i've encountered myself at the fourth raid boss: Some people are overwhelmed by "go left/right" mechanics. Have seen people die immediately every time they had to do this mechanic there. So the idea of introducing another way for struggling players to do this kind of content (without this level of stress) probably isn't too far fetched. I'd love to hear what Yoshi-P has to say about this

  19. I do kind of agree on there being more levels for content, much like how WOW has lfr, normal, heroic, and mythic. Because at the end of the day i want this game to be more accessable to people and have more people love the game that means so much to me.

But I hate the idea of lowering normal difficulty to the point of sleep walking. Welcome to MMO's, a genre of games where you need to take time and apply yourself.

  20. If they make an easier duty support version of normals, then it should only drop 1 single piece of gear currency, at random. There needs to be some incentive to put in the effort to do it the traditional way.

  21. The new normal raids are not even that hard… Why are people so afraid to have deaths and simply just learn the damn fights? These people expect to clear on the first try while sleep walking. We need less of those kind of players in the game.

  22. It's not too hard. Design philosophy is just taking a shitty direction. It's going from reflexes and thinking on your feet, to having to memorize the entire fight beforehand because there's no time to actually dodge anything. You have to just know where to stand in advance. It's less engaging and more stressful.

  23. Its really not hard…pay the F attention to whats going on and youll clear…These ppl complaning just wanna be brain dead and not have to think about anything just lali-ho through it

Also, dont get me started on on hard content, remember Aria Endsinger? THAT was a tough fight with the Reverse mechanics it had and such, but thats just ONE example. Yall are annoying with this…

  24. Reminder that you Can’t res your way through if you are the res and screwing up. And can’t always expect to be carried. Definitely was harder but if everyone is patient then it gets done! I got lucky to have a very patient healer who didn’t die.
