  1. Stormblood has its moments, but wait til you get to Shadowbringers. I didn't think they would be able to top Heavensward, but damn was I wrong.

Also, if you want another game that will trigger emotions in you, and get you to cry…a lot….then play Lost Odyssey.

  2. Thx for answering the question of 'what happens if you choose to stay?' Because I was like, there's no way the story could deviate but I had no idea how they would do it… and now I have to say, that was smooth… like really believable, no 'it matters not what you say, you do the same'

    very very good 😀

  3. Omega isn't from Allag. It's from a distant planet. The Allagan Empire, however, unearthed it and their Weapons (Ultima, for example) were inspired by Omega. You'll know more during Omegascape.

  4. Something that really hit me like a truck is how Papalymo has the exact same expression as Louisoix did as he also sacrificed himself in the same manner. It was such a cool callback.

  5. What’s so sad is that Stormblood by itself isn’t that bad, but up against Heavensward it’s just not as good. There are some incredible characters, like I LOVE HIEN and so many of the Doman characters, but Lyse is subpar and I just didn’t love her. I loved the characters but the story was just not very heartfelt. It was so so plot, but just didn’t emotionally grab you. A lot of great moments, but not enough to make it as good as HW.

  6. Baelsar's Wall is my favorite dungeon in the game, if only for the music. It's a remix of the Gridania music. I love it so much. Also the set up for Stormblood BLEW MY FREAKING MIND> just…..dont forget about those two haha

  7. "I made a video about how I didn't like Alphi at the start"
Let's be honest, no one did. He was pompous kid with a huge ego but that's character development for you. The scions grow on you exponentially as the story continues.

  8. Fun fact, when this scene with Papalymo first came out, the quest gave a super spoilery title that caused an uproar. "Papalymo's Final Witness" or something like that. It was a big thing and they ended up changing the title to something else.

  9. Btw a tip for being able to just enjoy voice acted cutscenes, you can press space to turn on autotext 🙂 You can then just sit back and watch the cutscene and when you encounter a cutscene without voice acting you just press space fast to disable it 🙂

  10. I remember yelling at the screen when we tossed Nidhogg's eyes into the abyss like, "SO YOU'RE JUST GONNA TOSS THEM AWAY SO ANYONE CAN FIND THEM HUNH YEAH OK GOOD PLAN"

  11. Yda/Lyse's tattoo disappears because it was a fake one created by Papalymo's magic to help in hiding her identity. So when the last of his aether faded from the world after the Shinryu fight, so too does her tattoo dissipate.

  12. When you realize what he meant by bidding farewell AGAIN to dear Yda. 😔

You really don’t notice the true meaning of the line unless you KNOW know and that is one of the most beautiful things about story telling I think.

  13. I think for me what makes ysayle's death hurt the most is how it's (in the game and also tbh in the community) a sacrifice that's much less acknowledged. Both haurchefant and ysayle died to protect the WoL/their own beliefs, but because haurchefant was a prominent ishgardian and a friend of a lot of the characters his death is talked about more. He gets a grave and a portrait and we even get his shield. I think because his death came first and was more of a shock, it's more talked about in the ffxiv community as well.

Meanwhile ysayle was known as an enemy or stranger to most NPCs. Unless I'm mistaken she doesn't get a grave or much fanfare at all (I'm sure there's some that I'm forgetting, but I can't imagine it's as much as haurchefant). All she gets is a quiet, out of the way and mostly unknown "memorial" in azys lla, honored by her few close friends. She died for people who didn't know who she was.

Not a complaint about the game's writing of course, a character mostly unknown to the majority of NPCs wouldn't get much fanfare. But it definitely makes it extra tragic.

  14. Haurchefaunt came back to haunt me so many times during this expansion, I feel like my WoL has suffered some PTSD from the experience. A few times after his passing my character recalls, "For those we have lost, for those we may yet save." and it brings tears to my eyes every time. Then seeing him and Y'sayle when we rescue Estinien. Unbearable.
