ABOUT THIS GAME

Final Fantasy 14 is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed and published by Square Enix. Directed and produced by Naoki Yoshida, it was released worldwide for Windows and PlayStation 3 in August 2013, as a replacement for the failed 2010 version of the game, with support for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and macOS releasing later. Final Fantasy XIV takes place in the fictional land of Eorzea, five years after the events of the original 2010 release. At the conclusion of the original game, the primal dragon Bahamut escapes from its lunar prison to initiate the Seventh Umbral Calamity, an apocalyptic event which destroys much of Eorzea. Through the gods’ blessing, the player character escapes the devastation by time traveling five years into the future. As Eorzea recovers and rebuilds, the player must deal with the impending threat of invasion by the Garlean Empire from the north.

The original Final Fantasy XIV, released in September 2010, was a commercial and critical failure. In response, then-Square Enix President Yoichi Wada announced that a new team, led by Yoshida, would take over and attempt to fix the issues with it. This team was responsible for generating content for the original version as well as developing a brand new game which would address all of the previous release’s criticisms. This new game, initially dubbed “Version 2.0”, features a new game engine, improved server infrastructure, and revamped gameplay, interface, and story. The original version shut down in November 2012 and was followed by an alpha test for Version 2.0.

The game released to largely positive reception; critics praised the game for its solid mechanics and progression, and they commended Yoshida for turning the project around. After a poor 2013 fiscal year, Square Enix executives attributed the company’s 2014 return to profitability in part to the game’s strong sales and subscriber base, reaching a total of over 24 million registered players by October 2021, also becoming the most profitable Final Fantasy game to date. The game has had a number of post-release updates produced for it, including four major expansion packs: Heavensward (2015), Stormblood (2017), Shadowbringers (2019), and Endwalker (2021).

  1. I would love to see more videos like this! Seeing new peeps come in an experience this beautiful world always brings a smile to my face. Though the story of ARR can be a bit of a drag at points, it can still be enjoyable if you pace yourself and enjoy the ride.

  2. Subbed! Hoping to see more of this 😀 I just started replaying from the beginning on an alt myself 🙂 ARR can be tedious sometimes, but hang in there it sets a lot up!

  3. This was fun to watch through your eyes, I played since 1.0, it wasn't that bad , defo not shite as you called it, nor all deleted , and you would've hired your retainer at level 1 for a start lol, now you are going to wait til around level 17 for a quest. As others said don't pick up all the sidequests, you' won't be able to pick up the important ones. Your priority is always main story and blue quests to unlock all content and areas. You should join Novice network, it's pretty ok on Spriggan and when you were dead you could've asked for a raise. You can also let people know your position with <pos> this is super useful as it's a clickable link to your location. Hello from Louisoix btw

  4. I know that I will never get to experience this game for the first time ever again, so the next best thing is watching someone else experience it for the first time. Quality video pal, will definitely be tuning into the next one 👍🏻

  5. Since you named yourself "Doomfist", Pugilist would be a good second class to take.
Also, I wouldn't keep doing a child voice for every single lalafell, that's gonna get stale because there are too many of them.

  6. So I agree with the other people saying stick with MSQ, and also want to add that the little text below the MSQ plate are quests you are advised to do, like job quests and chocobo related etc. Also for easy questing, if you click the yellow header text in your quest overview it will open the quest log, if you click the blue text where the objectives are listed, it will open the map exactly where you need to go, so its easy to find the nearest aetheryte 🙂 Have fun with Mr Desmond Doomfist!

  7. You tried ff14 in 2022… I’m sorry. I have no clue how this game can attract new players, and I say this as a player of 7 years.

With how many quests you have to do to get caught up it’s a daunting task. Good luck and try to enjoy the ride. Remember we did it all one patch at a time back in the day.

Don’t be afraid to take breaks and explore and just enjoy side content.

  8. welcome to the game! as a player I am obligated to recommend the hildibrand quests that start in ul'dah they have a blue quest marker for the first quest and it is a wild ride from there. So if it pops up when wondering the city TAKE IT it's called "the rise and fall of gentlemen" trust me when I say nobody regrets that questline.

Also you joined just in time for the next moogle tome event! it is an event in which you take part in normally MSQ related dungeons to earn tomes and exchange them for items that are normally not so easily acquired or are acquired much later in the game.

We always have events happening of some kind around the corner and I highly recommend taking part in the community made ones too like the eorzean aquarium you can find advertising their place on twitter or even going to one of the many clubs people have set up with actual DJ's streaming on twitch. There is always something to do if you don't feel like rushing the MSQ. Don't worry too much about getting the best gear or materia early on since its more endgame stuff that you might start thinking about it if you choose to go beyond the trial.

just remember to repair your gear when its durability goes down and keep up with your job quests and you are good to go 🙂
if you ask most people are happy to offer advice in game or in discords so always be sure to ask if you have questions about the game if it be advancing certain types of jobs such as crafting or how to unlock things like certain mounts

  9. To echo some of the other comments about leveling, yeah, the MSQ is the priority for a lot of people, and make sure you're doing your job quests as well, however, don't worry about speed leveling or charging through the content, play at your pace and enjoy the game. I think the only thing I'd change if I went back and started from scratch was I'd do the MSQ on one job and all the blue/yellow quests on a secondary job. Helps spread out the exp between two jobs you want to level via questing and makes sure you're catching the sidequests/flavor/lore alongside the MSQ. There's a lot to the story if you just give the game some patience to sort out where and who your character is meant to be in the world. Enjoy!
