  1. LV15 is the first dungeon, Sastasha. Spam dungeons, they give crazy good exp especially with food buffs 3% exp, can get from npc vendors for dirt cheap.

Tanking in dungeons, mention your new to tanking, no doubt some players will give tips.
But here are some of mine: use your ranged aggro attack "Tomahawk" on one enemy from afar in a mob, they'll all come to you and move to them then use your dmg aoe attack "Overpower" to get aggro on all of them, keep spamming it to keep aggro.

Enemy list in combat, to the left of each of their names is their own aggro gem. as a tank in dungeons you want all their aggro gems to be red orange color shows you have full aggro on them. if they're yellow, that means you're close to losing aggro to another player, if they're green then you have no aggro on them at all and most likely they're attacking another party member so hit that enemy to get it back.

If you are going to take on 2 or more groups of enemies, after you've gathered them together, use an defensive ability like "Rampart" to reduce damage taken so its easier for healer to heal. Don't pull too many enemies if don't have a defensive ability ready, stick to single group of enemies to be save.

when doing 8 player content with two tanks, its an unspoken law that which ever tank is in Tank Stance is the "main tank" the boss attacks, and the other is the "off-tank" who will grab adds. Even if "off-tank"you should try to keep your aggro number at #2 in the party list, so if the main tank dies, the boss automatically aggros to you. to do, this turn on your tank stance on about 10 seconds after fight starts so you dont accidentally steal aggro from the main tank.

This is a list of defensive tank actions, always best to plain accordingly when you're using each of them for next group of enemies in a dungeon. Don't stack defensive buffs, they have diminished returns, so try to use one after the other spreading them out.

    LV8 Rampart ability
    cooldown 90 seconds
Reduces damage taken by 20% for 20 seconds.

    LV15 Provoke ability
Puts your tank at the top of aggro list a single enemy target.
Cooldown 30 seconds. If you ever die as a tank during a boss fight, you lose all your aggro on the boss. So use Provoke after being rezzed to easily get that aggro back, or boss will keep hit other party members lol.

    LV18 Interject ability
cancels the casting of an enemy's spell. Cooldown 30 seconds.
Some enemies will do a long cast time with a pulsing orange bar, chances are it could be a powerful spell, so use Interject to stop the cast.

    LV22 Reprisal ability
Reduces damage of enemies around you by 10% for 10 seconds. 1 minute cooldown.
This ability is aoe debuff for enemies, also great on bosses that are gonna do room wide aoe damage to the party.

    LV32 Arm's Length ability
Lets you ignore knock-back and draw-in effects for 6 seconds. Additional effect, when you're attacked, it slows down enemy auto-attacks by 20% for 15 seconds. 2 minute cooldown.
This ability is crazy good, as you see are 2 uses, 1st effect let's you cheese past certain battle mechanics while 2nd effect has enemies attack you far less.

Finally, keep up to date on your tank equipment and class/job quests that will give you new actions from it.

Super long comment but there is loads to tanking in this game, this just beginner tips too. Good luck future Warrior, its literally the best tank in the game as It gets really good self heals LV56+ 😀

  2. 2 Quick tips to leveling the starter classes, when you already are further ahead with another:
    1. After the level 5 Class quest you should have unlocked the "hunting log" (Logs -> Hunting Log) which tasks you with defeating specific enemies and reward bonus exp for doing so.

    2. Since your Summoner is level 40, you should be able to use it to unlock the Deep Dungeon called "Palace of the Dead" which can be a fun way to level up extra classes. To unlock it, go to the Carline Canopy in Gridania, to speak to Nojiro Marujiro (X12.0 Y13.1) for the quest called “The House That Death Built”

Once you've done that quest, you should have access to the Deep Dungeon – not telling you what kind of dungeon it is on purpose, so you can find out things for yourself 🙂

Oh and dont forget to keep eating any kind of food for that "Well Fed" buff that gives you +3% exp, which might not sound like much, but is very helpful over time.

  3. I'd recommend unlocking Scholar as well. It won't cost you anything and it will level up alongside Summoner since they both use Arcanist for experience. The only downside is getting the gear and actually learning the job.

For xp, the best source for leveling a main job is the MSQ. For pre-dungeon xp, battle leves can provide some xp if you have the patience for its repetitive nature. As someone else mentioned hunting logs also give good xp as well. Don't forget to do your dailies either! If you haven't done the Hall of the Novice quests, I'd recommend knocking those out for some decent starting gear and a ring that boosts xp for content lvl 30 and under.

Also slso, I pronounce it Ma-raw-der, and don't forget to use your AOE attack (Overpower I think?) to hit all the enemies and keep aggro.

  4. I agree with the above, eat food for that 3% buff to exp, do the hunting log, do the challenge log too, and tribe quests if you have any unlocked in your level range. Once the levelling roulette unlocks, that gives a massive boost
