  1. But don't forget, DRK is "UnIqUe!" All of those detriments built into it's kit? Just some "jOb IdEnTiTy!"

    Seriously though, I hope they fix that shit, I miss my greatsword wielding edgy as fuck tank, I just can't be bothered to put up with it when all three of the others are so awesome. I mean I feel like DRK was the same in EW, and I was saying all of this exact same stuff back then too, but it's damage was actually good then so a lot of people just ignored the issues and growing problems, now look where it is, it loses fucking PLUNGE and some MP and suddenly it's just not functioning on par at all, and why is that? Cause it lost it's actual identity a long time ago, it's become "hit buttons in window" with barely any tact and the loss of literal button bloat is enough stripped away to show everyone willing to look what it's actually become.

    Not sure which of the other three will be my mains this time, EW was WAR cause I wasn't the biggest fans of PLD or GNB, but as all non-DRK tanks tend to get a lot of QoL and necessary adjustments they've both actually become quite enjoyable! The new animations on Atonement actually make a huge difference for me, add on all the new minor functionalities it got and I actually like it now, and GNB getting the Lionheart combo to fill in at the end of it's window makes such a massive difference, not only are the new skills super awesome but they actually fill in and nearly fix one of the most annoying parts of GNB from last expansion, with it's wonky cartridge storing for burst windows. WAR barely changed but there's a reason I stuck to it so adamantly as my main in EW lol Now here's to hoping DRK gets the same treatment of actually getting the fundamental help it's needed for years, cause I agree with all three others feeling so good that idk which one I'm actually gonna main yet, I've even been swapping during progs just cause I can lol

  2. Great video! I'm in agreement with a lot of the points you make. GNB is my favorite tank and I am really happy with it this expansion. Last expansion, PLD was my least favorite, but the new atonement combo and the optimization that comes with it really sold the job for me this expansion. GNB and PLD stand solidly above DRK as my top two tanks, while WAR ranks somewhere in the middle for me. I absolutely love your idea for PLD's Carian Phalanx and I wish that it was in the game so badly 😭

    I agree with you that the reason I think the devs wanted to keep the gapclosers doing damage is because they wanted PLD to have something else to manage in its somewhat simple rotation. I hope that next expansion, they add a little bit of mana management outside of the burst and replace the gapcloser damage mechanic with a mana management one instead (maybe even incorporate the new Carian Phalanx idea as the mana management ability). I loved hearing your thoughts, and I look forward to more videos!

  3. I see a lot of opinions here, but I'd like to offer some concrete facts.

    PLD: S-tier
    Other tanks: Who cares?

    Non-joking spicy hot take: DRK wasn't good in Endwalker either, but it somehow got worse.

  4. Working on pld now. Have gnb /war. But honestly pld seems quite op between the three. Just the advantages for constant uptime is quite interesting especially for all the current savages. There is like 3-5 times where uptime is slightly dopped because of range on all the different fights.

  5. Personally my rankings are:
    A+: GNB
    A: PLD
    C+: WAR
    F–: DRK

    PLD and GNB are both really well built and fun jobs to me. I like Gunbreaker just a little more because it’s not immortal like PLD. But I love PLDs aesthetic way more, but either way they’re great.

    WAR is well built job, and I would give it A for that.
    BUT, and that’s a huge But, I don’t like two things about it:
    How immortal it is.
    And the WAR playerbase.
    WAR is basically a Healer in a toolkit, and I do not like how just plain overkill that healing is. I genuinely believe it needs a nerf of some kind because it’s just not healthy to have this one tank that, at least in EW, had the best damage, best mitigation AND the best self sustain. It’s to damn much for a single job.
    And I find that a lot of WAR mains online, are really spoiled and act so full of it because of it. They can solo a boss from 90%, and will show off that they can, even it it means killing the rest of the party and taking away everyone’s fun to do it.

    DRK, is hard carried by its story. Gameplay wise it’s WAR, but with more oGCDs, and worse mitigation then GNB. It’s genuinely unfun, it works and functions, but it’s just not fun to play.

  6. They need to make Carve and Spit 30sec like GNB's Blasting Zone and give Bloodspiller MP regen like PLDs atonement. COMBINE oblation and TBN. I think this small small would make such a difference on the current DRK

  7. I was never a fan of the Shadowbringer rework for DRK, and it seems that finally, people are finally coming to their senses and realizing DRK's core gameplay is flawed. I used to main the job despite all the cons because I love its identity so much. But Dawntrail was just too much. It feels like Square Enix is directly asking me to stop playing DRK with Arcadion Savage (especially M3). I'm not picking up a greatsword again until the job is reworked.

  8. A weird thing that I noticed about DRK is that it seems to have some good synergy with shields and its mitigation toolkit. When I have a good Sage healing my DRK, my health barely drops below 60%. Maybe that’s something that the devs can work on without stepping on PLD ‘s role as the defensive utility tank?

    There’s no excuse for dark missionary being magic damage reduction only though, while only having 10% magic damage ONLY mitigation and the same duration as the other group mitigation tools that the rest of the tanks have.

  9. My tiering personally
    Dungeons: War > Pld > Gnb >>> drk
    Bossing: Pld > Drk > Gnb > War

    Drk dps wise feels like gnb during 2 mins but war during 1 min. Shadow vigil was the right direction but not enough in that direction for survivability.

    Pld dps wise is nice but i just kinda want more ogcds to replace our gap closer. Survivability feel like its the best ive felt.

    War perfect (only issue i hear are at time needing to be hit by a knockback but IR stops it.)

    Gnb would love if bloodfest was 1 min over 2 min for lionheart combo.

  10. just guessing… Dk, GB, war, pally… from worst to best in your opinion.
    guess i missed it abit.. 🙂 I just cant get into war. everytime i try leveling, i get 1/2 to a level, and quit him. still leveling pally, and GB. but I really like DK, maxed him out in Endwalker. and dont see where the hate comes from.
