  1. You went through the first half of ARR, now you have to do the post-release patches. And this is probably the strongest point on ARR, but it's also one on the most painful ones to get through as things get set up in front of your face and you don't notice them. Back then there were 100 quest where I just wanted to move onto Heavensward and then the couple last quests became my favourite part of ARR. Thankfully now they're, like, 80 quests, but still, you have to persevere to get to the good bits (Which is pretty much a thing during the entirety of ARR as you've seen)

  2. your talking about the old part of the game , the negative and positives have been highlighted many many times before . this volg is pointless and is only being looked at from a experts option as a dead cow milking ,

  3. "I'm not used to level up content resulting in my death, that's weird"
, that's kind of surprising to hear to me, I feel like I've died a ton more in enemy camps in WoW than I ever did in FF leveling, especially vanilla/TBC era. Though I haven't played WoW since WoD either, so maybe things have changed since then.

  4. I finished nearly the whole msq now and I have to say that I am not that positive. I love very much stuff in that game but for sure not the msq. It was way more boring and exhausting than leveling trough wow. I started with 6 friends and 4 of them quit already. They definitely should change something for new players.

The upside is that you have to do it once and than you’re finished with it for every class. But man it’s way to slow paced and way too boring gameplaywise

  5. this may seem a weird thing to say, but the best thing to happen to 14 is the failure of 1.0 as its set that community culture to be clear and honest about the various flaws of the game, and the devs culture of listening and learning

  6. I think once Bell finally gets to Shadowbringers, maybe a year from now considering his pace to finish 2.0 – hes going to lose his mind at how developed the characters are, their growth, their trials and tribulations, their goals. It's some of the best world building, and character development in any MMO.

  7. Things still to enjoy (for Bellular): MSQ for the xp's ofc. But also the stories for all the jobs AND the non-combat classes. I got hooked on doing ALL classes just to see what the heck was going to happen with all those npc's – as an example the Weaver (clothcraft) the arr storyline is about a rough character smitten with an upperclass maiden, trying to win her heart with sartorial splendour while having NO fashion sense. Your character and the Weaver guild leader have to give him advice and encouragement.
And in later xpac's the voice acting gets better and more common. Less slog – ARR was terrible, I just wanted to get to Ishgard and play Dark Knight & Machinist! Fun fact Samurai can be started sooner in than DRK/MCH cuz they aint gated behind Ishgard access.

  8. Except that it really is thrown out, heavenward is basically all ishguard, and all expansions Ayer that, they are only side thought to push the plot. Same garage as in WoW, just not as in your face

  9. I think most players would say ARR is the /weak/ bit, not the bad bit. It's not bad, it's just long in the tooth at times and pales in comparison to how much better Heavensward and Shadowbringers are.

  10. The thing that makes the 2.x patch quests less annoying: look at the things under the surface of just what's going on in the plot. Watching the dominos getting arranged, knowing "Something's going to knock this over," it makes you really feel the buildup. A lot less of it feels like "I'm wasting my time"

  11. I couldn't get through the campaign. It's like i want to skip it but I also don't so I just quit. If they had an option to level through a campaign about 1/4 the length of the current one I may return

  12. Now you're in for the really awkward bit between 2.0 and 3.0. The ARR post launch continent is really inconsistent. There are some really high highs but also a lot of padding. The pace is just a mess at that point.

  13. One of the WoW character problems is that what you feel for them is "wow i actually get to see plot character x again" instead of "oh there's character x again, we're catching up". Of course, the ymake it really hard for themselves when they sell a lot of character moments as written DLC.

  14. WoW does a really good job at making you hate the leaders of the opposing faction, but FF14 does a better job at making you feel for your allies. Not that it does a bad job at making you hate your enemies, but I think I still despise Tyrande & Genn quite a bit more than I did Livia Sans Junius.
