  1. While most dungeon gear from arr is either ugly or a recolor of another set a few are in fact unique and very cool looking, namely Brayflox's longstop (lvl 32) with its very cool looking armor, stone vigil (lvl 41) with its weapons that I believe look cool even while comparing to today's dungeon weapons, Dzemael darkhold (lvl 44) with its really good glam (and I'm not just talking about the closest thing to a bikini armor you'll find in game) and I'll admit really liking the look of Aurum vale's armor of casting (lvl 47).
And while they are redesigns, I find the physical dps armour and the caster's beret from Haukke manor (lvl 28) to be really nice to look at.
And let's not forget potd's weapons who are available very early, even if they're a massive grind at that point.
In conclusion, while it is true that arr dungeon gears tends to looks bad or boring, it still has some excellent looking equipment that, while they get completely outmatched in coolness by later gears, shouldn't be forgotten by sprouts looking for a cool glam :3

  2. Great video! My glam game was (and is!) lacking. Great tips. I agree with the poster above re:AV casting gear. It’s lovely! My tip would be to always do the treasure trove and other special events. A sprout can get some cool things, plus solid practice of job skills.

  3. Pro tip, even if your glam sucks, if you make a cool or funny transformation macro to switch gear sets, people will love it. All you need is a few emotes and skills that work without a target.

  4. Brayflox Longstop will absolutely carry you with the Infantry and Battlemage sets that become crafted items around level 50 and some of which might be late ARR quest rewards.

Qarn DoW is the first instance of a very good jacket design that will eventually be available as a regular item around level 54 (Hilda uses this so you know it's cool)

Aurum Vale casting set has booty shorts that you can also eventually acquire as a regular item around level 62.
ARR Ninja Artifact gear gives you see thru leggings honestly one of the best items until you can get Yorha gear.
Pince Nez from Darkhold are great.
Level 35 Crafting – Survival Set, made entirely with material available normally, usable even up to EW in plenty of glams.
Hempen sets – Available from a merchant next to the Limsa Aetheryte, looks like underwear, you can start ERPing from level 5.
Scarves – Instant Rogue Bandanna over mouth look. Low level.

And if you're jealous of tanks running around in their Bozja/Eden/Yorha/Gunbreaker pimpcoats and have a friend who can unsync Turn 9 for you the High Allagan Coat of Fending is really good.

  5. As far as RL friends…I don't actually know anyone other than my son who plays MMOs, not just FFXIV. So that's really not a particular problem. Some people love 1st person shooters. I'm not 12, so I spare myself the agony of dealing with the 12 year olds that dominate the genre, for example.

  6. never forget that your racial starter gear is dyeable and many of them look very good as part of other glams. Some of the early craftable lv glam pieces from weaver and leatherworker also look very good (hempen camise and culottes anyone?), and leveling any crafter to lv 30 is easy and fast (even if you don't have a lot of money). These together with the Hall of the Novice sets were my cornerstone glams for when I made my alt
