  1. Oh yes, that familiar stress of first time healer. I learned how to heal the worse way. As a Blue Mage in a Blue Mage only raid. Apparently, Blue Mage heal is 200% more panick lol.

  2. That was fun to watch. I main healer & when I began doing so I used macros so that I could keep the tank targeted 100% of the time. There was much anxiety. That's not great, I don't recommend using macros, but that's how I eased into it. As for stories, I don't even know where to begin so here are a couple of old videos that I have unlisted, if you're interested:

Video 1: Tissue tanks: When the tank has incredibly weak gear and / or does not use their defensive cool downs. This leads to the infamous "tank" that's made of wet tissues. At least this individual was an actual sprout so they had a legitimate reason to not know what they're doing: watch?v=Ye5wblAqXzM

Video 2: I oops and take a step onto the stairs, having forgotten that this triggers the adds below. Apparently the tank was in a mood that day so goes all-in on WE'RE DOING IT LIVE. At the time, this was one of the more difficult pulls to survive: watch?v=KDF8og-5AFY (note: the audio in this video has been completely replaced with copyright-free music. Apologies but you know how it is.).

I think at this point I've experienced it all. Probably. From making that single mistake that deletes the group, to saving an alliance raid and being cheered in /a chat, to doing the most damage in a 24 man raid (yes, it's okay to cry reading that), to spacing off and forgetting that I was healing while watching a stream on the other monitor, to… well. A lot. I've seen a lot.

  3. My 1st time healing pro-tips:
    1. Tanks health must always stay full. If they take 1 damage I must heal them immediatly.
    2. Everybody else must always be at 100% hp too. Hit them with the most mana intensive spell you have even if they're only down to 98%
    3. Let macros do the job for you.
    4. If you don't feel like healing then that's okay. Most groups would rather you just dps the whole dungeon anyway.
    5. If the tanks too freaking slow then always race ahead of them and just pull the mobs yourself. Who needs a tank anyway?

All joking aside, don't do any of those things and you should be okay. I'm a pretty terrible healer and don't do much healing in group content for a reason but everyone learns the hard way at some point. Thankfully there's a lot of grea t people out there who have played healers that are usually willing to give you good advice as you go. 🙂
