Just watch out for Red Alphinaud. They like to hog the limit break.
Macros: Immensely helpful if used correctly. Do not macro a rotation. Use it for chat things (such as a reminder for a mechanic if it resolves later, can use echo chat if it's just for you) or to maybe shirk your off tank. Or to place ground AoEs such as Liturgy of the Bell. Which is harder to do fast on console.
NPCs: Alright to learn, good for some extra dialogue if you care about the story, especially if you bring the Scions, and good if queue times are too long/queue won't pop. I wouldn't let NPCs tank and heal, though. I don't trust them to do w2w pulls if they have to do both. Gotta say, though, NPCs are more competent in Dawntrail. At least it feels that way.
Except Blue Alisaie, that guy still likes to point mechanics at other party members in the level 95 dungeon, first boss. Good thing is you can hit him with an AoE tankbuster later and get revenge. Fun fact: If trust NPCs die, they get a huge defense buff. When Alphinaud tragically dies to the TB the first time, he takes about 100k damage. When he gets hit by it again, he only takes like 60k damage and lives.
Y'shtola is really good when you want someone to follow for mechanics. She'll do most of them correctly right from the start whereas some other trust NPCs take some time to learn those and might only do them correctly the second or third time the mechanic comes up. Or just not do them at all.
And tank NPCs are arguably easier to heal than some "very good tanks" I've met out in the wild. At least they know what a mitigation is and you can do the funny with Thancred. I. e. use Benediction, then Than uses Superbolide. Sadly doesn't reduce HP to 1 any longer. I'd recommend doing story dungeons with duty support the first time for additional story.
Loved this video, and lived a good bit of it too. Finding a good community can help with anxiety about playing with others as well.
This is some good advice, and a good reminder even for old players to slow down and enjoy themselves <3
to whom it may concern, you arent good enough.
Macros are great when crafting as well. Especially when you're doing collectable turn ins for something lower level, and you can turn a 3 button combo into one macro and do a bunch while watching netflix/youtube, and collect those scrips everyone loves 🙂
All you have to do is be semi-competent.
Man I wish I was getting judged ff is so boring these days
