another thing is the brand new ring from the lil tutorial areas help a small bit when you're first starting off and eating food for an extra 3% also logging out in resting areas like cities to get rested xp will help in the long run of leveling c:
You're one of the few people I've seen mention Squadrons. They're one of the best ways to level to 50 that's always overlooked.
My favorite leveling methods are:
Lv 20-50: Squads. Super fast to run if your squad is fully leveled (and they all have 60% damage buff). At 20, you easily get 3 to 4 levels just from the first one. Then about two levels per run slowing down to a bit over a level towards 50.
50-80. Daily roulettes – MSQ (Great xp if you get the Praetorium. Castrum isn't as much but faster) and Alliance Raid (this one gets kinda meh as you get higher. Pretty good from 50-70 though. I also do beast tribes and hunts while I'm waiting on queues. They're not the best XP but xp is xp and it beats just standing there waiting.
Guild buff In the Heat of Battle I or II helps.
Food for 3% buff and Items:
very good advice, MSQ is SO good

Heh, total disagree on the Squad: they are stupid. Like really, really stupid. They dont move away from any sort of aoe, you have manually stop them from doing dmg otherwise they wont move, and their reaction time is medeocre at best (how many times did I die because that healer… just didnt do anything, like literally just standing there…). That being said, yes, they are useful if you dont want to wait for dps-queues 🙂 Though I have to say, I prefer the duty-finder and any beginner player in the world over the squad – even if I have to wait a little (I'm from WoW, so waiting as dps for a group… lets just say, waiting 30min in duty finder is nothing compared to 2-3 hours in WoW). A new player can learn and even after a wipe you can explain how something works and usually they listen – the Squad… long story short: I'm not a fan 😀 The Trust may not use aoe spells but at least they have a "brain" … a very good one at that 🙂
For the rest, yeah, this is a pretty good summary.
And I have an addition: Beast Tribes! Their xp, especially the Pixies in Shadowbringers, is insane! The other beast tribes may not yield as much but at least you are treated with a fun story, cosmetics and emotes – not to mention venture coins, glamour prisms, gysal greens for your chocobo, and a lot of other useful stuff. And their xp is still three times or more than any normal quest.
How did I do my jobs… Rouletts mostly. Especially the lvl50 MSQ rouletts, Meridianum and Pretorium. Yes, they take a while and you cant skip the cinematics and after a 100 speeches of Nero and Gaius and Cid explaining for the 200th time how to proceed… yes, it gets tiresome… but that oh so sweet xp is worth it ^.^ And I almost never missed a day from… about June to December 🙂
Beast tribes are also good for crafters. And tomestones, many many tomestones 🙂
Worth pointing out to people that dungeons on a level cap (50/60/70/80) don't grant great (if any) experience. So when levelling through one of those levels, use the level X9 dungeon until you can do the level X1 dungeon if the next expansion.
Extremely helpful video.
Is that Breath of Fire III music in the intro? 🙂
ah yes, main scenario quest quests
Cool content, keep up and look forward to more guides!
"Doody Rolette"
I hate the frontlines so much, i can't stand going in there :/
what would you do to level up reaper when it comes out cuz doing dungeons is going to be terrible
well, i have two level 50 classes and i just got back into the game, and i would like to level a dragoon. How should I do it? Do i just buy a lance and go to level 1 maps?
How you unlock all these rouletes? I have like only 4…
I just started playing again after a year. Decided to lvl whm for a change of pace. I was surprised, with fc buff, food and lvl1-70 exp earing, I leveled up to 60 in three days. I was shocked how fast you can lvl now. Its not bad at all. I just did dailies and a few dungeons with my class quests of course.
Trying to level alternate jobs between 61-70 is a real pain, you are at the mercy of the HOH/dungeon queues on DPS, its the only level range where there is no NPC based leveling system(squadron/trust system)FATE and side quests are a joke, seriously, anyone that talks about sidequests and FATE's as leveling appropriate content has not looked at the numbers compared to HoH and dungeons. SE need to boost the XP numbers for sidequests and or extend the squadron/trust system to the 61-70 range. I end up unsubscribing because of this issue every time, waiting in dungeon queues in order to progress in a game I pay to play is very unsatisfying and leaves me angry and resentful. Sitting in a dungeon Q while trying to get a FATE done before the dungeon Q pops, leaving you with 0 xp from the FATE is a joke, recommending FATE's while you wait in Q's is crap, many people recommend to do this and it is not viable. Summarily, challenge Logs and Roulettes are limited to daily/weekly XP gains, they can be completed in a matter of a couple of hours or so at most, then you are left with weak XP gain options, especially on DPS jobs where you cannot get the standard dungeon Q to pop regularly. Last I calculated it would take you like 60 runs or so of HOH to level a job from 61-70, now multiply that by all the altetrnate jobs you have to level it came to about 1,000 runs of HoH for 9 levels each = massive burnout
This works! love the video
Squadron dungeon tip: you can hit disengage and move way to the side if your squad is just standing on an aoe or something and dying. In my experience, they can kinda just take it, but my guys were a bit overleveled for the dungeon. Disengaging will cause them to move towards you, off of the aoe, and then just hit engage again and they'll start hitting the boss again. Idk if it's necessary ever, but if your guys die to a boss, try that.
Just started my first char. Should I be skipping all the side quests and just doing story/class quests?

Liked video but saying MSQ quests is the same thing as saying SMH head.
You can boost a character (job) to 70 , which unlocks flying , 100% xp gain and you get Gil and still level from 1to max level with other job but have those perks. Still do all the story and see the whole game .
Love the BoF 3 music
This game has the worst leveling up system out of all the mmos I've played. It is such a slog and so unintuitive.
Helpful video! As a returning player a lot of new stuff has been added to level your alt classes, that's good to know! Thanks again 🙂
its why frontlines is locked for me, how can i open it please ?
