  1. Giving gear to someone = only give them one nice piece, they'll attach to that piece being strong, but every other slot will still be upgradable, so they'll be happy for both. Just don't buy them an ENTIRE set, that's what takes the experience away.

  2. Greetings Zepla
I love the game now since the pre Beta ARR.. Since this i invited 6 Friends to play with me but no one played longer than ~10 Days / lvl 20. I Totally give up to try that one of my Friends ever play FFXIV. I think one of the main probs is, that many ppl come from other games like WoW or somthing like that, and nobody will leave there "Comfort Zone" and the imagine from the "i can only play this because its the best"
    have a good one 🙂

  3. I've been trying for years to get my friends to play this game, I feel like a Jehovah's witness going to people's door (via discord message) and asking them if they know about the wonders of FF XIV xD

  4. The thing about not unsynching them through dungeons is *real*. You know how one of the biggest problems with ARR content, besides the story being less interesting than later XPacs, is that there's a lot of running around and talking to people and not a lot of gameplay? Well if you unsynch people through content, you're leaving them with even less gameplay. It just isn't a good idea.

  5. I've recently introduced my friend to the game. I have him stream in Discord and I follow him around in-game and hold his hand. If I didn't do this I'm positive he would have quit already from feeling overwhelmed. This way I can see and hear everything he does and experience the game together. Seemingly small things like getting a new weapon as a quest reward means a lot to him so I don't try to downplay that and rush him along, I make sure anything that feels meaningful to him is meaningful to me. It's his first MMO as well. Experience the game together, don't leave your newbie friends to fend for themselves in a confusing world. Obviously this depends on the person but I think it's generally true. In other games where I've convinced friends to try it I've either tried to rush them along or mostly let them fend for themselves even if I've answered questions and such and I don't think it's ever worked out. My friend was blown away by his first dungeon, first trial, first encounter with a beast tribe. I feel like a parent saying "See the world through a child's eyes" but it's a rather fitting analogy, though I'm not saying you should patronize your friends. Asking your friend to stream helps so much if you have two monitors so you can troubleshoot things for them immediately and make sure they never get stuck and frustrated. Thanks for the video, Zepla.

  6. My friends got me to start playing ff14, i even bought the Collector's edition of Shadowbringers for both PS4 and PC but the story lost me when it went FULL anime midway through Stormblood, too many fake deaths(i still don't believe papalino is dead),flashbacks and villain redemption arcs, i liked ARR and HW but SB(i didn't even bother with Shadowbringers) is your average textbook anime adventure.
Excellent gameplay, a very welcoming community but the story that everyone cheers for stopped making sense after a point…… for example, how the hell did Gosuke survive getting shot in the back like 5 TIMES while holding the roof of a CASTLE which crumbled UNDERWATER alongside with whats-her-name who survived as well?

  7. Ive tried to get to get my friends to install the game but they uninstalled talking about how boring being pre lvl 15 is 🙁 I told them it gets better because of how slow it felt and then they said it was to boring to get to that point. :((

  8. Hated this game the first time i tried it years ago. Came back last week and now i can't stop. Once you hit 50-60 it's so different and fun.

  9. I'm old. I've played more video games than most people and have been gaming for a hell of a lot longer than most people. My standards are just too high. FF14 is a pretty generic MMO experience to me. There is nothing unique or interesting about it. My friends have no hope of getting me to stick around, try as they might. Not everyone is convertible. Sometimes you just gotta accept that.

  10. "The game gets better later" is the worst selling point you could ever use. FFXIV game design sucks. The beginning is utterly boring. The world design is plain and uninteresting. The quests meh. The NPC's completely nondescript. The story is hardly even there.

This game is only ok for people that are willing to suffer through the first 40 hours of boredom.

  11. As a new player that got knocked off the side by titan a couple of days ago I couldn’t help but smile at that part. I do feel the game progressively exposes players to mechanics in a way that feels rewarding and interesting, even if the fights themselves aren’t the hardest. I’m glad I didn’t buy a skip, since I definitely need the experience of learning to play the game.

  12. Idk how people even want to start playing, when everyone says to boost immediately seems like the last thing I would want to do if the whole grind isn't fun? Like that is why Classic/TBC classic is fun because the whole game is good.

  13. well, i just leveled to fifty and i skipped EVERYTHING that had to do with lore, i just dont want to know it at all, i dont want to invest my time into it, i just want to dungeon grind like theres no tomorrow and do the SOCIAL ASPECT of the game, yeah

story, in pretty much every game (except metal gear games) is totally irrevelant to me and ONLY pure gameplay and social aspect is what matters

  14. It simple: My best friend will play the day they make PvP a big deal
Until then she's sticking with Archeage
I came to terms with the fact that we would never enjoy FFXIV together

  15. I really wish I could get into ff14 but as someone that doesn't really want to sit through non voices cut scenes due to bad dyslexia I find it so hard to have a connection to my character and world I wish the game would add like text to speach for the non voiced parts as I've got 450 days on my account and only just hit lvl 72 lol :'(

  16. Currently playing alongside my girlfriend I had to convince to play the game she’s not usually a gamer so don’t really think she’ll be interested in the endgame stuff but last night we played through the praetorium she complete 2.0 and I asked if she enjoyed it, she said that she only started to play it to make me happy but now she loves the game for herself.
