📚Quest Start
The quest starts with Grendolt in the Crystarium, just outside the Crystalline Mean. You’ll do a short story quest, then upon completing it, start the quest to begin gathering components for the Splendorous Tool. You’ll be tasked to return with 170 inspirational fishing components, which come from Deepwood Shadow and Ronkan Bullion, both caught in Mjrl’s Tears.
📝General Notes
You MUST use the Brilliant Fishing Rod AND Select Bait Ball to catch Deepwood Shadow and Ronkan Bullion (and Goldings) – they will not bite otherwise.
You can keep Patience II uptime near 100% with hi-cordial and Thaliak’s Favor.
You are able to identify the fish needed based on bite type or time; explained below.
Before starting, use Collect and Patience II, and again, make sure the Brilliant Fishing Rod is equipped, and you are using Select Bait Balls.
🎣Catching Deepwood Shadow
Deepwood Shadow will be the main source of your components. It is the only !! bite before 10s from casting out. Once you get a !! bite, use Powerful Hookset to reel it in. When you start your fishing session, you shouldn’t use Identical Cast on Deepwood Shadow, but as you gain Angler’s Art stacks, you’ll be able to Identical Cast Deepwood Shadow and not impact Patience II uptime.
Deepwood Shadow can also be caught off a Golding Mooch, explained below.
🎣Catching Ronkan Bullion
Ronkan Bullion is the ‘bonus’ source of components for this step. It’s caught off a Golding mooch, and is a quicker (usually no later than 10s) !! bite. To get a Golding, reel in any ! bites at ~5s. If your macro timer says 6s before a ! bite, it’s not Golding. Use Precision Hookset to reel in these quick ! bites.
Once you get a Golding, mooch it. Ronkan Bullion is a quicker !! bite, if it goes past ~9s on the mooch, it’ll be Deepwood Shadow, which you should still reel in. Both Ronkan Bullion and Deepwood Shadow require Powerful Hookset to be caught.
You will only reel in ! bites at 5s, or any !! bite before 10s. If you don’t have either fish bite by 10s, use Hook to reel in and cast out again. Repeat these steps until you get enough fish caught for 170 inspirational fishing rod components. Inspirational fishing rod components come from aetherially reducing the Deepwood Shadow and Ronkan Bullion. You can also turn them in with Quinnana in the Crystarium, but I recommend Aetherial Reduction for the bonus chance you get for any Tier-2 collectable fish (which should be any you catch with Patience II).
Once you have the components, return to Chora-Zoi in the Crystarium. Talk to her (with the Brilliant Rod in your inventory) to receive the Vrandtic Visionary Fishing Rod.
Good luck and happy fishing!

Thanks! This was incredibly useful. I hope you cover the next step soon
Is it required to use the brilliant fishing rod? I have the crystalline fishing rod and the game even tells me to use it but I get zero bites almost like I'm not using the correct rod.
Thank you for the fishing guide! Also I saw you, from NA Malboro too 😀
Thanks a lot ! Very useful and clear, as always 😉
It took me two Patience II windows before figuring out I was facing the wrong way and fishing in the wrong hole x.x
Thank you for the guide
isnt this the Mora Mora person on Twitter?
How do I get that timer in your chat box? Is it a setting somewhere?
