  1. Lack of Warring Triad and Weapons on this wall is sad. Especially when Four Lords are there. Are you planning to add them on before ending Endwalker? Would love to know what you judge them compared to the rest.

  2. When the game requires an LB3 it lets you know, look at 29:09 "Transcend your limits and weather the gathering storm", yes it doesn't literally say "Tank, use LB3 here", but the game does imply heavily that you must "break your limits". Also the LB3 in the last fight in Alexander was actually required as well.

I know you try to separate narrative from gameplay in these reviews, but it really can't be ignored here that in this moment Elidibus is pretty desperate and is one of the few enemies you've ever faced that themselves uses limit breaks, and an LB4 at that. That is to show just how hard Elidibus is trying here, showcasing just how desperately he's trying to beat you, how much of himself he's putting into it.

  3. Re: Seat of Sacrifice music:
    1. I love that it remixes existing themes. It's one of the coolest tricks that Soken employs.
    2. That intro guitar riff is siiiiiiiiick.
    3. I don't think there can really be a crescendo to the music because there's no way for them to know when you'll defeat him. If there was an enrage timer (or a faster one; I've never seen enrage on non-EX) then maybe they could do it? They kinda save the big crescendo for the scene where you bind Elidibus, which I think is fitting.

  4. I absolutely love these rare Tank LB3 mechanics in story fights but I would love them to remove the timing element, especially the "hitting it too early" part.

The way I would implement it is that as soon as you get a "you need to break your limits" message, the party gets a buff which converts into an extended but non-stacking LB3 mit when you receive the LB3 buff status, so that you're guaranteed to be covered as long as the LB isn't hit too late to actually go off.

  5. While it takes a bit of a grind to get back to it because of where it is the MSQ, I would highly recommend going back with the New Game Plus feature and trying out the solo duties of Cape Westwind and Lahabrea. While they arent going to blow you away, and I feel like they shouldn't really be on this wall, I definitely have a new appreciation for them when I recently re-did the ARR MSQ.

  6. I'm with Kyle that I absolutely love Susanoo and any time I get it in my trial roulettes I'm super excited because the track is awesome, the voiced lines are hilarious, and the giant sword bit in the middle is so much fun for tanks imo than the LB3 necessary mechs like in Seat of Sacrifice.

I personally never felt like something was 'missing' from the song for Seat of Sacrifice, but honestly that would be thematically appropriate for Elidibus!

  7. Seat of Sacrifice is everything for me.

My favorite character, taking the form of one of my favorite designs, with a gorgeous holy, blue/gold aesthetic, amazing story significance, and my favorite pieces of music in the game.

My only criticism is the QTE is annoying in normal, so I much prefer the EX for that simple reason.

  8. I agree that SoS normal has issues with two specific pass/fail mechanics that feel shitty to fail.

The Extreme just has the tank LB. No QTE. Also its a lot cleaner fight imo to the point its in a similar boat as Shinryu where the two kinda exist in different parts of my brain. But judging the normal trials, yeah I would agree.

Except the slander to To the Edge.

  9. UGHHHH WHY U BRING UP TLJ?!?!?! The movie that forever broke SW. I've only ever almost walked out of a movie theater twice and both times it was a SW movie. I love how Rian Johnson's "Artistic Choices" had to be explained on a piece of paper prior to entering the theater….fantastic.

  10. While I will admit music preference is highly subjective. I personally think Insanity is a great track but I am also a sucker for piano virtuosity which if you give that track a listen I think that piano is amazing

  11. I personally put To The Edge on par with Shadowbringers as the best music in XIV. After falling in love with Full Fathom Five/Neath Dark Waters/Mortal Instants as a window into Emet’s soul, it was an emotionally devastating experience to hear lyrics come in with To The Edge. And emotional devastation is what Shadowbringers is all about. To The Edge is very much a personification of Emet as much as it is about Elidibus and the Warrior of Darkness, and for that reason I hold those lyrics in the highest regard. Truly Soken’s masterpiece. I also would have thought you liked the 80’s hair band scream a bit more, as a purveyor of lengthy hair.

  12. The game definitely teaches you to LB3 as tank before to survive certain mechanics. The first time they do this is in Heavensward actually. The only issue is that it's not explicit, but they have a n emphasis of solving puzzles, so they often don't give hints

  13. I'm not sure what they snorted before this video, and I know it's a "you can't be wrong with an opinion", you are objectively wrong about the Insanity theme. I'm not sure what internal scale you guys personally use to gauge music but it's broken and on fire. Please fix.

I like the video otherwise lol

  14. The tank LB3 isn't that small a window, the buff lasts a full 8 seconds. It's just that the charging-up animation of the attack lasts deceptively long, so the key is merely being patient until the proper moment. You can even wait until he starts doing his sword slash spamming movements and then cast it and it's still in place in plenty of time, at which point it's less about "push the button at THIS instant, no later and no sooner" and more "once you've passed this point, you're all clear, go for it".

  15. Welcome to the biggest problem the final fantasy community has ever had

Which is our favorite and why

People fight for 7,claw for 6, assault for 4, berate for 9, and

utterly decimate for 8! (Yes I will for 8)

But thats also why we love 14 so much it gives us each a place to present our favorites on a pedestal for everyone else to admire

  16. Yeah I miss emet so much, I think thats why for me on my original run through of 5.3 it fell flat to me Elidibus didn't hold a candle to Emet for me. After watchiing so many others go through it, i have more appreciation for Elidibus but I'm just glad they let Emets voice actor do a small bit of narration as you guys have heard in EW just so we can hear his voice again.
