2 expansions of nerfing Drk sustain when it already had the least of the tanks in every expansion…
Sages main gimmick is literally that it has Hw/Sb Dark Arts. They took a tank mechanic, and rebranded it as a healer mechanic, while the tank mechanic is now do you want to spend 3000 mana on TBN or Edge of Shadows. As fun as Drk still is, it didn't need to be simplified to what it is now.
Abyssal was better as a gcd. Sole Survivor was a fun skill. Dark Passenger already existed. Mana was almost infinite with Blood Price… the good ol days.
Actually just as vengeance gives damage when the warrior is being attacked. If they added Blood Price to Oblation, it would be a great skill.
blood weapon use to drain hp with each strike, it was wonderful, it also reduced wepon skill cooldowns, making you hit faster. why they changed it to draining mana, ill never understand.
These are lazy upgrades
In the 90 dungeons DRK is a beast, it was a bit harsh through the leveling ones though. If you have problem with DRK survivabilty in big pulls you need to use your CDs better, or have a personal healer that knows how to play the job. Sure its mitigation is not as good as the other tanks, but I have died once in a big pull and that was in the first EW dungeon on day one.
They play their own game more than the WoW devs do at least
Real shit? Are we reposting these on the forums. Yoshi-P has used Xeems ideas. He (Yoshi) needs to use these. They should just hire Xeno as a quality tester. He wouldn’t yes-man all the stupid, worthless ideas we end up with.
big true on DRK, it does feel like lazy. Maybe cause the team was sick of buffing it in Shadowbringers.
It'd be nice if tbn when it popped, gave a HoT to both the person it was on, and the Dark Knight themselves. Other than that, Dark mind probably should just be merged with Oblation and honestly? While under living dead, you should just get a nascent type of effect. Other than that, just remove the mp cost of tbh and make blood weapon a charge system.
If they want to keep TBN as it is that much, they should give trait relate to dark arts instead of meme unmend/shadow.
Basically make the "free" Flood/Edge from dark arts proc refund some mp and reduce TBN cd after hitting something. This would let DRK spam TBN in big pull and actually reward them for pop TBN.
I WAS hopeful for some good news and changes, and what i've got? CARVE AND SPIT SHARING CD WITH ABYSSAL DRAIN….i'm fucking out.

I agree with most of what you said, drk isnt exciting in this expansion, all it got is new boring skill animation, a bloat on our hotbar. Shadowbringers is so underwhelming to use and disappointing especially it is named after their best expansion. You dont get that hype feeling of using that lvl 90 skill, it’s just another one of those “oh i gotta press that button”. However, things I dont agree with is changing living dead and drk’s other mitigations. What you want to happen is make all of the tanks the same? One of the best thing about drk is tbn and it feels great when it breaks and proc, removing that is just you complaining because you want everything to be easier for you so you can easily get your 100 parses.
The funny thing is there are 100+ pages on the forums complaining about BW, TBN, LD and dark mind.
The JPN playerbase believes DRK is the best tank in the game and that TBN is brokenly overpowered. Yoshi only really listens to JPN feedback and will continue to balance the game around them.
I would go so far as to say that DRK needs a rework. They apparently have said Living Dead isn't changed because of lore? Throw that shit out the window. Make this class feel better to play. Every job in the game has moves that feel great to pull off. But I don't feel that DRK has that.
As a healer main my heart sinks whenever I see DRK in the EW dungeons because good lord they are so squishy compared to the other tanks. It makes me sad bc DRK was always my tank of choice as my tank role. I definitely agree with your opinions here, and the devs definitely haven't seriously bothered to play as DRK.

Gona be honest with u guys, after seeing all those other broken spam cooldowns from gnb,war,pld I thought they would give tbn an extra aswell, like a double press on tbn to pop it on its own, to heal the rest of the shield. Would also be a way to always get dark arts. Also I dont dislike shadowbringer or so, but I would have preferred a 90 action with ur shadow, like after his time runs out he reunites with u, and u would unlock, well whatever an enhanced Edge, like edge of void or so. All in all DRK is pretty good, still my favorite tank but they missed the cherry
I agree with everything except for the dungeons comment. I didn't have any major issues with DRK in dungeons. I think we wiped once on a roulette, but that was a Day 1 sage on Dohn Mheg.
absolutely love your honesty about drk and it's flaws. It makes me less hesitant to stop playing it because of the all jobs in this game this looked and fells as close to my DK from wow. But at least we don't have wow devs who see what is wrong and told what is wrong and still our like fuck you we are right.
Ya Drk got a raw deal compared to the other tanks. I'm not sure anyone is happy with it. Might be slightly niche in trials/raids but it's really sad.
I wish blood weapon could be back to its weaponskill speed up, or even giving life back on moves like bloodwhetting.
What is the purpose of the melee mastery trait? It looks like they changed the potencies of those skills with the start of the expansion. So if you already have the change before reaching 84 why is it a trait?

Pretty good points raised across the board for the job, tbh. Absolutely agree that the changes were just lazy.
Some changes that may help DRK would be adding 10% physical damage reduction to Dark Mind while keeping the 20% magic damage reduction.
Blood Weapon should have 5 stacks by now, maybe also reduce overall GCD by 20% like it used to in Heavensward.
TBN shouldn't be tied to MP anymore; probably make it a 30s cooldown with 2 charges and keep the current effect minus the free Edge/Flood if it breaks.
Salt and Darkness and Shadowbringer are just lazy skills. Don't really have any suggestions for those right now, though.
Oblation also feels extremely lazy. At least it should have gotten either a regen, a flat heal, or even shielding, especially when compared to the upgrades the other tanks got on their short CD defensives.

except when it's actually only 8% due to the way mitigation stacks in the game and everyone forgets about the innate 20% every tank has.
