FFXIV’s seasonal events aren’t extremely special, but we’ve been watching them unfold and they really do help breathe just a little bit of life into the game.
Thanks for watching! We hope you enjoy.

One of the big things that helps provide things to do when content draughts hit is player-made gameplay. FF gives some great tools to encourage players to make their own fun. Just look at all of the clubs that RPers create to get folks to check out that RP lifestyle. Hitting up clubs on a weekend night is almost a raid in itself.
I failed the horn heist ;-;
to be fair, when coil was first introduced, players found ways to cheese T2. unlike the later raid tiers that were added, coil didn't have a hard enrage, the bosses would just amp up the damage. but T2 was special. there is a count down timer that starts the moment you attack the first ADS. the strat was to let the timer run out prior to engaging the final ADS. this allowed players to avoid the allagan rot mechanic, all mechanics really, and just dps burn the boss before it's attacks began wiping the party
I remember the strat for T2 was to let the boss enrage and just heal through the aoe cause it was easier, the game devs were happy the players came up with a strat like that. SE =
blizzard = HOWDAORTAOERARADF NERFNOFUN
Player…engagement? What's that? Is that a 9 month subscription plan bonus?
BLU Farming was also the fastest way to farm Moogle tomestones in the previous event, that time it was running Aurum Vale.
even if blizzard robbed XIV blind, at this point, it's already so far in decline that nothing they can possibly do will bring it back to life.
The privilege is mine to have walked along the FFXIV community and developers for so long.
The best thing about the seasonal events is simply that they make the world feel a bit more alive, and provide some lighthearted side quests
can anyone find a way to contact square enix about the ff xiv 60 day time card issue? the reason being best buy no longer sells this, amazon is about to run out, game stop has being sold out and square enix website still says on there these stores still sell them. I tried to contact square enix but they said this isn't an in game isssue but this should be a huge issue. I mean where can you get a time card if all the big stores have run out and amazon has only a few left for beyond windows vista. if endwalker comes out; well where can i get time card beyond steam? i don't wish to use steam due to issues and i wish to play this game beyond level 60 and i am low tech. this is a serious problem and i tried to let asmongold know as well. but could anyone find a way to let square enix know of this severe issue. i mean endwalker is coming out next month and more players are going to play this game. so could someone fix this please?
Now we need a Video: How World of Warcraft lacks FUN with BRANDNEW Content!
Blue mage is really fun and suffering at the same time, just got my Morbol mount from achievement, it was a lot of suffering, but it is really worthy.
I got lost chocobo racing for like a month. Completely ignored leveling and just raced chickens lol
I am leveling all my jobs to 80. 4 more to go! Let's see if I make it before EW!
We all know BLU is lvl up specifically for these events…the Devs pretty sure set up this that way
the Blue mage thing is a thing since forever for many things. Also fate griding for relics etc. And there is no nerf in sight. Thanks god
As much as we can owe to WoW for ff14 it's just incomparable imo. WoW's in game events are infinitely less important to them and infinitely less fun. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the wow team is only capable of maintaining the game. In other words, they're not capable of actually making new content
This myth that a content drought always results in sub loss wasn't even in existence prior to the Cataclysm Copium Meta. At worst, droughts brought about flatlines, but subs up through WotLK hovered between climbing slowly and climbing quickly. That's because the game had an actual journey to max level back then.
Classic really highlighted this for me. I took months to level up to sixty, and my wife even saw me playing and was enticed to join me despite not even touching an MMO in ten years. FFXIV still has this journey, and that's why it's drought resistant. Sub loss during droughts is only inevitable when players level cap in a week and find themselves with nothing to do outside of raiding and high end dungeoneering.
Bellular called out a bunch of non-raid content that FFXIV provides, but WotLK also had plenty of gear progression outside of raids via:
Weekly Heroic Dungeon quests
The Argent Tournament Dailies and Dungeons
The Lich King Heroic Dungeons (Pit of Saron, etc.)
And here's another crazy idea. Having bad players in your random groups is actually good for the game. It accomplishes several things:
1. It maintains player perspective so that difficulty expectations don't spiral out of control the way they have in WoW.
2. It makes mediocre players feel like good players so that want to keep playing and improving.
3. It adds a layer of difficulty that doesn't consume R&D resources
WoW's current M+ key system stratifies the player base and makes it so that mediocre players don't even want to stick with the game long enough to become good players. The good players get even better, and they inevitably get tired of grinding the same old crap out again and again, so they either clamor for more difficulty (which makes the even problem worse), or they simply get bored and leave.
With regard to BLU and the fun police, SE recognizes that if you've leveled BLU to the point where you can take advantage of this "broken" fast tomestone acquisition method, you've effectively done your grinding up front. The grind to level cap a blue mage and acquire all the spells isn't trivial. I'm sure that if they were to nerf the farm, it would just feel bad for all those players who took the time to level their mostly useless blue mage jobs only to have them become irrelevant once again during one of those rare occasions where they were actually good for something. The entire point of BLU is fun, not fairness. That's why they're not allowed in synced content or on the duty roulette.
FFXIV has more events than WoW but they are mostly also just incentives to play the game, actual new content per event each year is pretty minor. Not saying that WoW revamps their events any frequently but just saying that most XIV events can also be experienced in a day or two. But the events as incentives just to play the game definitely work, for example during the most recent Moogle Treasure Trove I noticed that I was missing only a couple of mounts from Stormblood's Extreme Trials and this incentivised me to finally take the leap into Party Finder and farm out the missing mounts. I did the trials for couple of weeks and I have the Kamuy of Nine Tails reward mount now!
The real content since May was all the new players who came from WoW.
"…so how does ff14 not have a single content patch but still be injected with energy?" It's easy, how it was written in one meme "9.1 is best ff14 patch". Really, it's just because of how bad wow state is. It was a mostly dead time before sb and shb release, ppl just logined for events and played other games.
It doesn't.
Its because the game offers great and amazing amounts of content even without story and raids
My first moonfire Faire, there was a jumping puzzle. I got a title for doing the quest and a neat outfit if I'm recalling correctly. The jump puzzle was back the next year – but it had been completely redone. They also altered it so you couldn't be mounted or fly while doing the jump event.
I think about the only Nerf that's been taken to Blue Mages is preventing them from committing suicide every 5 seconds. It was not only a viable battle strategy to cover yourself in toad oil and boost your damage to explode bosses, but it was also a viable way to cheat at jump puzzles since you would reload wherever the healer rezzed you. So, now they must wait 10 minutes before committing seppuku with either Final Sting or Self Destruction. They also trivialize some of the grind for relic weapons – Old and new. Honestly? I don't see it as a bad thing. A lot of the older weapons are simply glamour at this point. Even with new ones, it simply eases the grind for a step or two of its construction. I also don't know how many people actually play Blue Mage, but it is a fun side diversion.
I think they were only really annoying during the Yokai watch event, and even then they quickly dropped off and things were manageable again.
Why is this called Bellular Gaming when all you do is talk about ff14?
Do you have a link to the remix at the end of the video please?
FFXIV has a content field , where as most other games like WoW have a content Pyramid. The closer to get to max level or the endgame , the less shit to do that becomes meaningful. Literally anything in FFXIV is meaningful as the content peacefully co-exists and does not demand that you pay attention to one particular aspect of the game. Carrot on a stick vs having various fruits and vegetables to graze on at your pleasure.
I have one reason it stays fun, one word: CLUBS
Garbage click-bait channel.
I think my least favorite part of all these wow nerds coming over is now nobody will stop talking about wow. Fuck wow. I don't care about wow. Ff14 is a great game and i can't wait until we can go back to just discussing what a great game it is instead of just talking about how it compares to wow.
I feel so far behind… had a free account up until end of Heavensward then chose to sub, so created a new character to experience ARR after knowing the storyline; was cool to see all the foreshadowing!
Point is… everything still feels like new content to me! In some respects I am relieved by the delay, even knowing I won’t be able to catch up on time!
