Not all of the stories in FFXIV are mandatory, but these should be.

First
Fine, I'll do Eden this week.
I could not agree more, so much of the side content connects to the MSQ and if you haven't done it might leave to question why it comes up. Yes MSQ can be advanced and be good story without it but the side content does so much to answer questions people like me would have had I not done it. Furthermore most side content if you have done it actually opens up further dialogue options in MSQ.
Umm…. this might unpopular opinion But I like the coils raids should be mandatory since it explains what happened to the twins grandpa and other stuff but that is probably just but everything here on the list should be added as while.
I still haven't done Eden… or the sky pirates stuff… It's all a monument to proven procrastination. I really think they messed up bad by hiding the Unukalhai/Cylva quests behind a hard core only line. It feels like it should also be VERY relevant in 6.2. As in, Unukalhai very specifically told us what destroyed the warriors of light on the 13th, meaning the bleed from the auracyte. I know this, so why am I keeping two archfiends in my back pocket this close to Zero? Kind of makes me mad.
Great video though, keep them coming!
This is a great reminder of one of FF14's real strengths compared to other MMOs – damn near anything can become relevant to the main story. That's not to say that disconnected stories are bad – the events of GW2's raid, the Bastion of the Penitent, for example, are perfectly interesting and absolutely worth it, even though it doesn't directly connect to the existential crisis of the world – but FF14's ability to (and track record of) incorporating all these disparate stories into the prime narrative is breathtakingly impressive and immensely satisfying, once you get a handle on it all.
Personally, I'm in agreement with you on Omega, Warring Triad, and Eden. Omega contains some fairly critical information regarding certain details after Stormblood and as you said, folks will be confused about the state of Midgardsormr without it. Based on the direction the story is going after Endwalker, Triad and Eden will probably also serve as the critical basis for more msq plotpoints later on.
As someone who didn't come around to doing Alexander after finishing ShB, I would personally disagree with making it mandatory for the MSQ. I can only speak for myself on this but I don't feel the knowledge gap that would come with not doing Alexander early hinders my experience or understanding of later content. I see it more like the icing on the cake in terms of lore understanding rather than as the cake itself.
Dragoon is also a disagreeing point for me. It contains important info like you said and meeting Estinien. On the other, I can't imagine the idea of MSQ being locked behind the condition that you level a certain job, regardless of whether you already play that job or not, being very pleasant for a lot of people, myself included. I know I would feel very sour about the dragoon experience if I couldn't play it at my own pace. So I think it would be better to somehow better integrate this information and the first meeting into the MSQ itself.
8 man raids quests
Heavensward endgame trials quests
Dragoon's job quests
Wow. I had hoped to see some cool yellow quest but. These are almost all mandatory. Most of the player did those.
Idk dude it feels like clickbaiting to me
