  3. Very relatable. This game helped me deal with my depression and trauma better then any expensive therapy could. it gave me some breathing room from my every day life and a place where i could explore my interest and make new friends. Now I'm an fc lead for a wonderful community of friends who are now part of my family, love them and this game to pieces. I'm so glad to hear you are doing better now and that the game could help you in a similar way 🙂

  4. I've been a MMO player since the days of Ultima Online. I've since played WoW from vanilla up to Battle for Azaroth, Guild Wars 1 and 2, and many others. I was cautious at first when getting into Final Fantasy 14 and doing anything with other players other than random groups because I've been burnt too many times on other games. I've come to realize that the community is super welcoming and is like what I use to have way back in the day in other games before they became toxic. Making new friends and actually enjoying my time online like I haven't had in many years

  5. Thank you for sharing something so deeply personal and raw. I can't imagine how hard that time must have been for you. I will tell you that I struggle with my own mental illnesses, and FF14 was what I needed, and Endwalker's message specifically spoke to my deepest heart. I hope that you find peace, and more and more strength and courage and joy each day. Know that you are not alone. You are so very vital. Stay strong, Warrior of Light. May we meet under sunny skies someday in game.

  6. So glad you were able to find something to help you keep holding on. 🙂 I have my own story for FF14, and maybe I'll get to tell it one day. Nothing like yours, but it is my own experience with being a former WoW player, finding friends and support, as well as (surprisingly) being a source of support to others.

  9. As someone who is a full-time aid for an ailing parent: MMOs provide a connection to others not afforded by RL circumstances. During my break from FFXIV (long story): the nights were the worst. I often found my mind wandering to dark and spooky places. Since coming back to FFXIV: I now have something to look forward to during the evening and nights. Granted the "trauma" of my first play through is still in the back of my mind: so far the difference is like night and day. FFXIV does an excellent jop with bombarding one's emotions and mental productivity. For me: the community interactions thus far have been great eventhough I don't know all the ins and outs of RP. However, the advice a friend gave me was to "major" in the MSQ, "minor" in side quests, and go to "elementary school" when it comes to RP. She is a professor at a college: so i understand what she is trying to convey.

Never be afraid to reach out and seek help: both in and out of game.
