  1. I'll never understand why SE keeps making sets have a section of the outfit (cuffs, straps, collars, trims, etc). that doesnt change color when you dye the outfit. It makes matching things SOOOOOO hard and frustrating. Also they keep making these "undyeable" parts of the outfit the ugliest, hardest to match colours known to man. They should keep the parts that dont dye a more neutral color like white or black. An ugly yellow or cream colour clashes with 90 percent of colours.

  2. hahaha i got the first 4 frontier cloth on primal. also the people on your mb are idiots for selling frontier cloth for so cheap. there is no cross realm hopping right now so the mb on your server is the only 1 you have access to meaning that the supply and demand is very very high. shouldnt be selling for less than 4.9mil per cloth until cross realm is available again. i sold the first 2 frontier cloth on primal for 10m each.

  3. I personally don't mind genderlock. Not saying I 100% want it but maybe I'm just too oldschool. Seeing male characters in high heels and stockings and bunny outfits are definitely not my favourite thing but then again, those are not my character so it doesn't really affect me either way. I do like both sets though for this, I would definitely use the male version as MCH glam.

  4. I think i'm going to sleep on this set for a while, the dress was going for 20 mil on Famfrit yesterday. I'll wait for Halloween and pick it up to do a Wednesday Adams glam set.

  5. Thank U Meoni for this I really appreciate your hard work

I would love to put the dress in yellow looks like my kind of colour I think it's really good in yellow it matches the little patches on the dress too because they would annoy me if it was another colour maybe idk 😂😂😂😂

  6. Love you, Meoni, BUT, as a former game developer, I feel compelled to point something out about "gender-locking" and that is that there is a very practical and logical reason for it: it's far more time-consuming and expensive to make non-gender-locked gear than otherwise.

Like all graphics, gear, at the end of the day, is just an array of vertices (x,y and z coordinates) displayed as triangles on screen. Unlike real-life, you don't just make the outfit once and then anyone can wear it: all of the vertices have to be adjusted for all body shapes for all races in the game. While I'm sure they have tools and design parameters that speeds the process up, making the cost of making something could very well look something like this:

Original model: Midlander female > 100 hrs.
Additional model: Highlander female > 10 hrs.
Additional model: Miq'ote female Sun clan > 20 hrs.
Additional Model: Miq'ote female Moon clan > 10 hrs.
Additional Model: Elezen female Duskwhite clan >20 hrs.
Additional Model: Elezen female Wildwood clan > 10 hrs.
Additional Model: Roegadyn female Seawolf clan > 20 hrs.
Additional Model: Roegadyn female Hellsguard clan > 10 hrs.
Additional Model: Lalafell female Plainsfolk clan > 10 hrs.
Additional Model: Lalafell female Dunesfolk clan > 5 hrs.
Additional Model: AuRa female Raen clan > 20 hrs.
Additional Model: AuRa female Xaela clan > 10 hrs.
Additional Model: Viera female Rava clan > 20 hrs.
Additional Model: Viera female Veena clan > 10 hrs.

Total cost: 275 hrs… for a female only gear piece. Add at least another 200 hrs. for the male variants, and you'll almost double the time and money spent on the outfit. Note that I'm likely undershooting the time required to make the gear by quite a bit, because unlike mods they have to make sure it looks relatively well with battle animations and such, even if there is quite a bit of clipping. Yes, they do it for most gear, but that's because they *have to*, and also because they make sure most gear is easy to adapt to all races and male/female genders; and while making the male outfit non-gender locked might not imply a substantial increase in cost (if you consider and additional 80% unsubstantial), that dress… yeah, that's like doubling the cost of producing a piece that was likely far more expensive to produce than a regular piece of gear.

As far as we can tell, though, they are aware that there is demand for it, but it's rather limited; so they first produce gender locked gear and then "unlock it" (i.e., make the models for the other gender) gradually, as their production schedule opens up.

One more thing: when Yoshi-P says that adding a new race is a pain, this is what he's talking about. Adding a new race makes every last piece of gear more expensive and time-consuming to produce. That's why they gender-locked the Viera and Hrothgar: for the purposes of asset development, the two together are effectively a single race.

You can also tell where they cut corners: the Viera are based on the Midlander female body-type, and the Hrothgar are based on the Reogadyn male body type (don't remember which clan), which is why they share the same race-exclusive casual wear. It's also the reason Hrothgar are bulkier in this game than the Ronso in Final Fantasy X: the closest body-type they had were the Reogadyn. If they were to add the male Viera or female Hrothgar, for example, you can bet they'll be based on other races as well: maybe the Miqo'te male for the Viera, and the Reogadyn or Hyur Highlander female for the Hrothgar.

Sorry for the long post, but I thought a concrete example would help everyone understand that they devs are not "locking" the gear, as much as they are simply not making it because it would take too long.

They already went all out on the 2B gear: they can't do it for every piece of gear added to the game, at least not yet. 🙂

  7. Ah yes…
Yoshi P: We wish to start ungender locking stuff. Let's start with the stuff we already have like the dresses.
Also devs: Actually let's not let the girls wear the cool new suits and men? Nah, not allowed to wear dresses. Also all this new hair? We don't wanna give it to 2 EXTRA races so screw them too.

  8. The mens' outfit is very 1930's-inspired; the fashion world at that time was fixated on exotic Africa/Egypt. A lot of movies back then had similar themes in them with the fashion, too. The womens' outfit is very 1950's, but I feel like the bow/headband is somewhat 40's. Nice vintage looks, we need more vintage fashion. Mens' hats are usually awkward to wear, but this one has a good shape to it and a slightly wide brim. Hopefully all the new gear pieces and glamour items (from in-game and Mog Station) don't have pixelation, this is a good start.
