Heavensward Trailer Reaction
This heavensward trailer is absolutely incredible, from the high quality retelling of the FFXIV ARR ending. The incredible music and then the introduction to Heavensward and Ishgard. As soon as I finished ARR people in chat asked me do a live Heavensward trailer reaction so I wanted share on here too. Pleas excuse how tired I look, it was around 2am by the time we finished ARR.
As a big fan of medieval games, I love the knight and dragon theme so I’m super excited for heavensward. Absolutely loving FFXIV so far and heavensward looks like it’s going to grip me even more! Plus I’m going into Heavensward as a dragoon for full immersion!

Tbf I did watch this before playing any of ff14 altho at the time i didn't have any context for who they were or what was going on so it didn't ruin it for me when I actually got to that part. It just kind of made everything click. Back then I was just blown away by the music and the visuals. These trailers are what made me play the game as I kept going back to watch them for years before I actually made the jump to playing. Cuz I love final fantasy I just didn't used to be into mmos.

Interesting thing: The start of Heavensward was likely especially thrilling for people who played 1.0, because Coerthas existed there, too (minus the snow), but nobody could enter Ishgard. All they could do is go to the gate you see in the beginning and watch at the castle city and the long bridge from afar, hoping for the day X where they might be finally able to enter. And then the game went up in flames and any hopes to get there moved even further away. I can barely imagine the joy someone form 1.0 would feel when they see these gates and hear that they can finally go to this mysterious hidden place that was "taunting" them by existing out of reach for years. 😀

3:27 this part with the arm piece locking into place was a gif on twitter, and it was the one gif that got me to finally play FFXIV. Yes it was armor thirst that got me to play this game I have no regrets.
I actually watched this without meaning to before finishing ARR when I got to lv50 because I wanted to keep earning xp so I bought HW so… yeah, spoilers! 😄 I love this song, though. Every time I have to do something I don't really want to, I listen to this trailer to hype me up ^^
Sad title screens are temporary. Would set mine to hw permanently. Loved that one.
Dragoon is absolutely the best class to be in HW! You get so much context and even some extra dialogue! Looking forward to your jounrey!

I honestly miss that HW title screen a bit. The ShB is gorgeous but…
I remember long before the title screen nerf, when ShB released at 3 am and suddenly, from my apartment…"HOOOOOOME, riding HOOOOOOOOOME!!!!"
I only watch the trailers AFTER I'm finished with that expansion. They just feel too spoilery to me, though I can understand if others say it's fine for them.

One minor caveat about this trailer:
The dragon model you see in this trailer is not one you actually fight in-game, and the scenes featuring it never occur the way they're shown here. Basically, when they got working on the trailer, the trailer-design group said, "Hey, you guys got any dragon models?" and Yoshi-P was all "Here's the first one we've finished"….but didn't realize that that was going to be what they based the trailer on. So they made it red for the trailer (even though no red dragon of that shape appears in-game) and…it basically got quietly swept under the rug as a "trailers always lie" kind of situation.
A dragon with this model appears, and dragons DO attack Ishgard. It just won't play out quite the way it appears to do so here.

Yeah, it definitely leaves one hell of a inpression, not to mention the amount of ppl who switch to Dragoon after watching the trailer.
Welcome to what FF14 is at its core. This is when the game gets absolutely amazing and even if you're a putterer like me…you're going to be hooked on the story. Even when levelling RP alts I STILL watch most of the HW cutscenes.
Now go back to episode one of his journey and watch the last episode. You come a long way.
