  1. I so wish you could move while casting, even if it lowers your movespeed to a slow crawl. Way too frustrating getting your cast canceled last second cuz I move at the end >.<

  2. Too scared to do healer, I worry about wiping the raid if I mess up. I have immense respect for people who are willing to take on the challenge. Thank you to all you healer mains for keeping us alive.

  3. honestly, one of the reasons I took a break from the game the last couple of months was because I got tired of people telling me how to do my job. It's one thing if I ask, or if things are going poorly, but I got detailed rotation "advice," unasked for, multiple times

  4. I've played healer in WoW and having the pressure to heal+dps has been an ajustment. I play AST, which is a busy job, and I don't want a more complex rotation, as I have to focus on so many other things already. I've heard the discussion a lot, but like think if you wanna DPS, go play a DPS. I think this is really not needed for a healer.

  5. Healing's my favorite role, it's pretty low stress. I play tank more often though since tanks are in higher demand.

I prefer it this way. The more complicated healing is, the fewer healers there will be, and that makes higher queue times for all of us. I like when difficulty comes from the encounters, and not the class abilities.

  6. I swapped to healer for the 6.2 raid tier and honestly thought it was the most boring thing ever and I got massively burnt out on it before we even killed the last boss lol

  7. Healer main here since 2.0. My issue with the current iteration of healer kits is twofold: first, all WHM, AST, and SCH all had more significant DPS kits in the past. It feels like we lost some unique and useful skills for absolutely no reason. Second, combat in FF14 is DPS-oriented; healing should only be done when necessary, which outside of Savage and Ultimate fights is infrequent. Meanwhile, damaging enemies is how you clear content, ergo, DPS > HPS. They've built the flaw into the system. The devs tried to "fix" this by implementing tougher heal checks…..in Savage. That's great unless you're primarily casual, even hardcore casual (which is how I'd classify myself and I'd say the majority of players). The fix? Give healers more interesting DPS rotations that interact with he overall kits better. Players who are new and/or uncomfortable with DPS – don't press those buttons until you are. Then the rest of us can get back to enjoying the jobs we've dedicated so much of our play time to.

  8. I won't touch Healer until Astro gets its rework & I might not touch it after that too! I have to see what happens with it! I have my White Mage at lv 90 but not geared for current content! It is an OK healer! Scholar got nerfed with the Fairies, there is no point to having two of the same type but different colors! Sage seems awesome but I am scared to try it! I'm no longer Tanking either for all the same reasons! I will stick with my Ranged & Melee DPS!

  9. If parties were a bit nicer to their healers and encourage them to dps, I would be healing more often. Lately I've been trying to get my healers to 90 and I've had to carry on my back tanks and dps that refuse to do mechanics and refuse to just pay attention to what's going on around them. No, they're oftentimes just staring at their 1-2-3 combo to notice that death is under their feet. I've healed in this game for quite a while, and have had far too much patience for some people.

The last straw for me today was having a 83 gnb tank in Malikah's well that was semi-undergeared (why the hell did he have on 68/74/75 and 80 gear when he could've easily gotten the poetics together for a MUCH better set), and didn't bother with half of their mitigation, and would not move out of the bad. Their scolding me at the end saying that 'I need to be at 100% all the time, you need to relearn how to heal you stupid sch!'

Nitwit had decided that, after I rescued him once out of an aoe that would have killed him on the first boss, stood in everything he could to take damage.

Nitwit had also decided to literally MUNCH on 6 vuln stacks on Storge and not bother with ANY mitigation on that boss. Even when the boss was literally chonking off 1/5 of their hp per auto.

So now I'm doing fates in the overworld map JUST to avoid doing dungeons. Is it slower? Yes. Do I have to deal with mean assholes in my duties? Thankfully no, not until I get a friend that knows what they're doing and will happily tank for me. Unless I feel like torturing myself, I think I might end up avoiding the healer role after the sheer amount of sour grapes I've gotten since the start of EW.

  10. I have attempted to play healer before, my brain just, can't keep track of party health and enemy health at the same time very well. So the barrier healers like Sage and Scholar have been, relatively fine for me, but I can't Pure healer to save my life, so generally I just, stick to playing tank otherwise, since my og main Summoner, currently doesn't exist in the form that I enjoyed it in anymore.

  11. I just started playing FFXIV about a couple months ago and I can honestly say starting with WHM has worked really well for me as a newer player. It was very easy for me to pick up since the damage rotation is extremely simple and having the responsibility of healing has really taught me to pay particularly close attention to incoming attacks and boss mechanics generally, which I believe has helped me to understand the game better as a whole. 100% feels like the perfect starting job to me. With that being said I can understand why a newer player would be intimidated by having to take on the responsibility of keeping the party alive, but at least for me it hasn’t been too bad 🙂

  12. They can make more interesting mechanics that relate to the healer. Like certain things that reduce healing by 50%, or the boss puts a debuff on a person that absorbs healing and can only be removed if that person is healed for a certain amount, or undead things that take damage from healing, but cannot die from normal damaging abilities. I like JRPGs, because a lot of them have systems that make the healer more interesting to play in the party. FFXIV just went down the healer just spam route. Or they could just give healers more interesting rotation, I dunno

  13. If the job or role is to heal, why make us do dps? I'd play dps if I were interested in that job. I despise the fact that ffxiv makes us do any dps. Give me things to heal instead of making me a subpar dps player.

  14. I main healers because I like being useful and think of others. There's so much pleasure to fill up party HP or as you said cancel out a whole party wide aoe!! 🤩 but it's true that when nothing happens in the fight the hype isn't there … at least Astro can do buffs and Scholar preventive healing but WHM and Sage … become repetitive… I'd like the same dps button becoming a proc skill.

  15. I love healing white mage has been my main since ARR tanking is 💯 percent anxiety 😂 and dps is just fun! WM is my favorite cause I’m a space cadet and it has so many oh shit abilities to pull you through any thing!
