  1. I love your appreciation for Lyse! She has always been maligned by a lot of people in the community. She may not be the most amazing character, but I do believe she grew as a character.

  2. great adventure, zenos was a great enemy and something like that makes a good story i feel.
the VA also did a great job, but jp for me still better. ( lol checked jp va resume and it sort of understandable now).
however the story contunues, we move on! 😀

  3. Man, loved your reaction to this. Zenos, while not the best villain in this game, is underappreciated. Lots of people say they love and hate him, and it's because he's your character, only if they had chose another path. He too is strong enough to take on any comers and win without much effort, but for him it left him empty rather than fulfilled. But he's similar in a lot of ways to a player character, after all, he's out there collecting powerful weapons for the simple joy of having them, he's getting into fights just for the rush of it. You were his extreme trial.

As for the Echo/resonant (artificial echo), the markers in the game like the orange circles and stack markers are meant to represent the echo's guidance, showing you glimpses of the future. That's part of why your character can survive all these crazy battles, and why Fordola and Zenos got so strong with the resonant, they could see glimpses of the future just like you can. 🙂

  4. Only mentioning this here bc chat seemed to misunderstand why the eyes were thrown off the bridge in HW in the first place.
There is the obvious reason: holding the eyes is always dangerous.
The second requires some knowledge of the lore and geography of Eorzea. The area below the bridge, below Ishgard, is also considered part of the Sea of Clouds, where tempestuous wind aether rages. It's been a while so I may have some details wrong, but it's said that if anybody were to try descending into it, the aether would tear you apart; throwing them off the bridge was like hiding the eyes behind whirling saw blades, lol. The only reason they were retrieved in the first place was because it was the Warriors of Darkness who retrieved them for Elidibus, and they were already dead, so there would be nothing to kill.

  5. As someone that played the entire game in the Japanese dub: How do people enjoy this game in English? I always try to believe them when they tell me "The English voice actors are way better post ARR". Just that "better than ARR" doesn't say much. Every scene I've seen in English has felt watered down. Nothing hits.

  6. I love Zenos
He isnt as complex as the other villains and not even half as nuanced.
He is just a mad dog that wants to feel the rush of battle, a cutscene skipping player character that just wants to do extremes, savages and ultimates.
"The moment when life and death hang in the balance, where a single stroke can decide fate" such a cool line

  7. I better get going or you're gonna catch up with me, and I've been playing for a while lol (damn I've been lagging) I'm at the end of 5.0 last quest before the patches. Looking forward to seeing your reactions to the SHB content.

  8. If you notice the lyrics of 'Anthem' you'll see the difference between the Empire version and Ala Mhigo version
    .
In the ending,Ala Mhigo finally claim their rightfully Anthem which has been stolen by the empire for nearly two decades.
    .
They reclaim the true anthem, their pride, their honor and above all…. their freedom at last.
    .
And I think it's really a great message reflects in Stormblood ending though.

  9. Note: At the time of writing this I have just finished the main story of Stormblood. I have not yet done the post quests or gotten to Shadowbringers.

I personally LOVED how Zenos played a role in Stormblood.

    Spoilers ahead

After being beaten by Zenos for the first time, I honestly felt like my character had new life put into them. It felt like my character WANTED to fight. Some of the dialog options could be chosen to imply your character was looking forward to the next encounter and wanted to sharpen their skills.

An actual challenge. You'd taken on gods, ascians and elder dragons, canonically by yourself. Hell the Thordan trial was canonically solo you fought 13 primals single handedly. Most of the time it didn't seem like my character had much investment in the battle besides it being your job to kill primals. But then Zenos comes along and beats your character. All of a sudden, battles have a new thrill to them. My character WANTED to fight Susanoo, they WANTED to fight the war for Doma and for Ala Miigo. Because they'd gotten a taste for a challenge and were excited by it.

At Zenos' death, it felt like your character just stood there silently contemplating the death of perhaps the first person they'd ever met that was like them. He did awful, and terrible things to your friends and allies. Had single handedly ruined two nations. There was no possible means for redemption or for it to have ended in any other way than the destruction of one another.

But on the flip side, you saw yourself in him. He was the other side of the coin. A warrior without peer, but unlike you, could not find fulfillment in fighting for the benefit of others, so he fought for himself

  10. 1) Pipin and Raubahn tell you that you can take any prisoner you want- but not Zenos. Lyse missed the memo.
    2) Zenos was committed to a fight to the death- the weaker “man” dies.
    3) In the JP version, Zenos voice is rasping (choking). We were crushing his chest during the fight. So, he was pretty much dead anyways.

  11. I just finally understood what he said at 25:57

He's right. You ARE the one who caused all this inadvertently. The true architect of its design. It is you who fought the very soul of vengeance (Nidhogg), and watched him fall into ilberd's hands, causing him to create this dragon born of a desperate man's burning hatred for the Empire. It's you and your friends who let slip the Allagan hound (Omega) to drive this eikon right into the hands of Zenos.

It's all been a domino effect leading to that moment in particular.

  12. Varis: "It fills you even now, doesn't it? The hunger. To bite down on my jugular, to feel the warmth fill your mouth and run over even as you drink deep. Good, good! This is the beast I have longed to face!"
Hrothgar WoL: "Seven hells dude, get help…"

  13. What made me feel sad for Zenos when he took his life was that he did not out of cowardice but because that was to him, the Apex of living. He found a kindred spirit in your character being another of great strengths and leadership. Being raised as a weapon of destruction and conquering had steam rolled thru everything like we had up until this point. While doing so his own family attempts to kill him on end, and finally he meets you the only one with the potential to be his equal and YOU ARE- YOU EVEN SURPASS HIM. That made this moment his greatest joy and memory at the time. He was content finally being bested by an equal. Being bested by his literal counterpart, someone he could consider a friend/rival and enemy at the same time. No wonder he took his life then and there. At that point he saw no way of being able to enjoy such a moment again against you knowing he would be dead either way. So he did it himself while knowing what it meant to have an equal and friend. Really damn twisted but gah I love the writing behind this game.

  14. please answer. why keep the name over head? i have very little UI elements, probably as little as you can imagine, but the one thing that neeeds to be removed is overhead names especially your OWN. im truly just asking tho it doesnt affect gameplay, just immersion IMO.
