As a gw2 player since day 1 I have to say, anet's marketing is fucking embarrasing. There is no hype around the expansion.
This is hilarious lmao and a painful roast but well deserved. I quit GW2 after the horrendeous EoD reveal last year. Participated in betas, watched their streams and all of that made my decision easier. They really butchered their own game in such a short time, it's amazing.

Arenanet once knew how market an MMORPG big time. The "Arenanet MMO Manifesto" is still the most hype trailer for an MMORPG I have ever seen (seriously, look it up!) and just watching it makes me want to play the game. They're the ones who should have been giving Square-Enix marketing lessons. I don't understand how their marketing touch collapsed this much, so quickly. All I know is that the first GW2 expansion in 5 years is going to release in the general indifference of MMO players.
Arenanet sucks at marketing but thats ok because they are making really good games.
I've played the original guild wars and GW2 for a long time, and I don't even really consider EOD an expansion, as there isn't much being added that's expansion worthy content, but it's my only escapism from reality so any more playable content is always good to have. At this point, I'm not surprised they haven't given an exact date yet, I think they'll either 1) surprise us via some livestream and say it's available now, 2) give a date in Feb, or 3) delay it. It's really only one of three options at this point, but I figure if I expect it to be on the last day of feb at the last second before march, or worse, expect it to be delayed into oblivion, then I won't be disappointed. It has become a laughing stock though now, as a result of their lack of communication. With so many players supporting GW2 via the gemstore and paying for the expansion, you'd think the least they'd give is an exact date by now, considering it's literally 1 month and a few days before March, and it's supposed to be released in February sometime, yet no date has been given. Not good.
Late February is the release window and they have released expansions on Fridays in the past. They will probably announce the date during their livestream that is on the 28th of January. The most likely release date is 2022-02-22. That date is on a Tuesday and they does all their normal patches and releases on Tuesdays. And that date has a nice ring to it 😛
But it could also be on 2022-02-25 that is on a Friday. If they want to keep the Friday releases as a thing.
